It doesn’t get better when you grow up.

Imagine if we actually had to put up with all of this on a Sunday!

And thus our hero, Calvin, learned the true meaning of Groundhog Day.

As I’ve always believed, when you get out of bed, things just get worse.

Where is Hobbes? He is the only comfort in Calvin’s miserable existence.

Reality rears its ugly head, again!!!

I feel really sorry for the poor kid, being treated like dirt by characters that are so useless most of them don’t even have names. I hate when STARS are treated like dirts by extras. Another reason Calvin will not miss any of these guys when they are dead. When his parents die he might rent a wood chipper and say that’s how they wanted to leave.

What that boy needs is a pet tiger.

It’s very sweet to see the love his Mom shows Calvin in the 2nd to last panel.

I feel you Calvin when it comes to school, school was a total horror.

In training for normal adult working life.

It’s enough to make you go off grid when you grow up. I know I felt like that as a kid…….

If they just let him do what he wanted every day, Calvin would turn into a pathetic, loser adult who wouldn’t be able to take care of himself.

Calvin’s face in the last panel is a look of terror of going through it all over again the next day. I remember going through days like that in elementary school.

In T. H. White’s “The Once And Future King”, the young Arthur (known as Wart by his bullying foster brother) seems to be having a bad life. Things get better when Merlin becomes his tutor and he starts talking to animals and being turned into an animal. Things get worse when he pulls a sword from a stone and becomes King Arthur as he hates having so much responsibility and especially having to lead armies into war. It gets even worse when Merlin is magically imprisoned under the ground leaving Arthur without his guidance. Like most adults, King Arthur comes to look back at his childhood as the happiest time of his life.

Cal, imagine if you grew up in the tech era. The photo of Moe pounding you would be a meme. The Noodle Incident might be on Facebook and YouTube with 100,000,000 views

I felt sad after reading today’s comments.

Good analogy for tyranny.

When Calvin and Susie have their kids, Calvin will be thanking and emulating his parents.

I’m with ya, Calvin.

If only she knows… More importantly, how can you not know basic math?!

Live long enough to retire and then it’s too late to enjoy life.

Don’t wait for tomorrow my friends, mix some happy in with the drudgery.

Panel four is what is wrong with way too much teaching in schools. Ms Wormwood is teaching Calvin to be helpless. Instead she should walk him through the process. Counting on fingers is better than despair.

This is a great reminder that we never really know what is going on in someone’s life. Including our children. Listen before we correct.

These reruns are jumping all over the place

We’ve all been there

This is a repeat comic. But it still has flavor.

It gets easier once you learn to roll with the necessities and pick your battles.

We’re woke! Shouldn’t a Sunday comic be about a Sunday.

I guess I was lucky, I never had issues with bullies all through school and I didn’t like homework I learned to get it done as quick a possible because then I had time to play and watch TV. Now if only I could have been a straight A student like my sister.

I’m familiar with his day.

Yep. Certainly a repeating page in my book of life within my chapters of childhood.

Wow. So many children wish they had such a privileged childhood…

Another typical Calvin day.

Well, that was a long day indeed, getting lectured on what is to be done. The good night kiss by mom was the only bright side. Grow ups do not have better days than this either.

This was truly heartbreaking, reading it for the first time.

Things to look forward to.

Well, Calvin…if you stop stalling and do what you’re supposed to do when you’re supposed to do it, there would be more time for fun. There’s no real freedom without responsibility. The bully part is different, of course; that’s certainly not Calvin’s fault. But I’m not too quick to fault the teacher’s attitude knowing how aggravating Calvin can be in class, and knowing how much he procrastinates with his homework even when he gets extra time to do it. If he paid better attention in class and didn’t neglect his studying, maybe he would know the answer. And let’s not forget – most of the strips show Calvin having plenty of time to play and explore and have fun and use his very fertile imagination. All in all, I’d say Calvin has a pretty good life.

Isn’t this the kind of day that builds character?

I didn’t have homework till 7th grade. Regular public schools in the ’50s.

This. This has been stuck in my brain since it first ran. 30 years. As true now as it was then.

There are many people on here commenting today that I think got up on the wrong side of the bed, calm down and relax. And to the commentor that suggested that Calvin kill his parents with a wood chipper you should be ashamed of yourself and you got flagged for that comment, and the ones that liked that comment should also be ashamed.
