Georgia please do not let her stay lost too long. She needs her meds. The couple that took pity on her don’t realize that they did not help in the right way. They should have called the local humane society and vets for any reports of lost cats.
I hope we see Sophie next week. It would be helpful to know that she is doing her Sophie thing and hiding under a very heavy piece of furniture. Hopefully, her lack of eye meds won’t hinder her attempts to escape.
Wow, the rescue party does look down. They remind me of Commander Shelby, Worf, Data and Dr Crusher returning from the Borg ship without rescuing Captain Picard at the end of Part 1 of Star Trek TNG “The Best of Both Worlds”, one of the best episodes ever, not just in the Star Trek universe (right up the with TOS “City on the Edge of Forever.”) but also for best all time TV cliffhangers ever.
Meanwhile in a secret hideout in the woods, Alf aliens is busy preparing for dinner. And guess what be on menu. It a SophiestiCated gourmet dish. Does anyone hears if a tree is falls in the woods? Or if a cat is meows helplessly in the woods? Can anyone is saves the catsel in distress? Or is cat doomed to be delicate cat delicacy in Alf dinner? Not forgets to sees the next amewsing episode of….BCN! Same cat time. Same cat channel.
Oh My Cat. I’m sitting here with a cup of coffee and breakfast … and when I saw the “needs her eye meds” on the poster, had trouble swallowing. Then, the look on the search party’s faces … no longer feeling hungry!
If a certain raccoon is not going to physically rescue her by breaking the screen on the window in which she’s sitting, maybe that same certain raccoon will tear a Lost Cat poster off a telephone pole and deposit it at doorstep of the house of the captors.
I feel like Georgia is learning what my mom was told by her editor when she tried to put a scene with a child in peril in one of her romance novels. Children in peril make for great drama but many parents just won’t read such stories because it’s not fun for them, even as fiction. It doesn’t matter how good the story is if the reader stops reading. Seems like among the readers of BCN the same goes for cats in peril.
I have a high tolerance for catharsis and peril myself, but much sympathy to those who don’t.
I have been peeking in often the past couple of weeks, and I feel for everyone worrying for Sophie!! This was almost as rough to write as it is to read—except that in my head I could keep fast forwarding to the bits that will be good when I needed a break.
It’s my hope that this story will serve to really remind folks to get chips, check chips, and find out as best they can if creatures have a home.
No spoilers, but—Thimblefist said it best last year during the Mole Wars. “It will be ok because we will make it ok!”
None of you would give up on Sophie, and no one in the BCN world will either! (…including Sophie herself). Hang in there!
Help is on the way, I promise! We’re not the only ones glued to this broadcast. ;)
I had a small (very small) taste of lost cat this morning. The tortie princess was nowhere to be seen, and was not coming when called! I quickly went absolutely frantic, sobbing, hollering her name, opening cabinets all over the place (she likes to look for Narnia). I even looked outside.
The first place I looked for her was the black futon; she blends in so well on it. After several hour-long minutes of search, I glanced at the futon again. And there she was, in loaf position, watching the entertainment of frantic human.
Cats! (And then I picked her up and just hugged her for about a minute. Such relief!)
what does Natasha (in the cool needle jacket) have in her hand? a magnifying glass looking for clues??? i’ve tried enlarging but still can’t make it out.

Why do I have the feeling this will not end soon? Or easily? The discouraged looks on those faces of the search party says it all.

Very nice missing poster. It looks like we will end the week and possibly start next week on a downer. Hopefully just a bump in the road.

Where are Tabitha and Sir Fig? Since they are on the top floor, they should have a better vantage point to be on the lookout.

Okay, I admit it. I called the phone number on the missing poster. 401 is a Rhode Island area code. Unfortunately, nobody answered.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile (Classic Edition)
Thomios: We’re on our way to the Cosmos Nursery. We should be back in time for dinner. My assistant Sue Chef will be making toppings.
Shisho-San: I would like to help as well. I brought some scrolls from the 641.8248 section in the No Longer Hidden Library.
Sue Chef: That would be lovely.
Shisho-San: Anyone know where Ambassador Katsu-San is?
Thomios: I believe he is in the Palace Library with Elvis-Anum. He did say he had some things he wanted to talk about with the Royal Scribe.
Shisho-San: Then it must be something very serious and important.
At the Palace Library
Katsu-San: Thank you for teaching me how to play Senat. Now how about I teach you Shogi?
Elvis-Anum: You’re on. Then it’s on to Hounds and Jackals.

John Denver: Looking for Space
On the road from the Big Pink House
We’re trying to find our lost friend
When we think we have found a clue
It seems we are at a standstill
But we keep trying and we always will!
…….
We’re looking for our friend
And to bring her back home
Our sweet, sweet friend
We know she must be somewhere
We need the help of our wild friends
We know that we must not despair!
…….
Not alone, Sophie please know that
We will not give up on you
You have all your friends now
And your friends in the wild
We won’t give up until you’re found!
…….
We’re looking for our friend
And to bring her back home
Our sweet, sweet friend
We know she must be somewhere
We need the help of our wild friends
We know that we must not despair!

Almost heaven, Big Pink House
All my friends there, even Baba mouse,
Life is fine there, fine as it can be
Tommy’s waiting, waiting there for me
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Big Pink House
Come friends, take me home Country roads
All my memories, gather round there
Good old Tommy, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
I miss my new window, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Big Pink House
Come friends, take me home Country roads
I hear their voices in the morning hour they calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Wandering down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Big Pink House
Come friends, take me home Country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
Big Pink House
Come friends, take me home Country roads
Take me home, down country roads
Take me home, down country roads
