Saturday night is the loneliest night of the week…..

I do not blame dad on that! Sleep is important!

Or “Caturday” as Hobbes would put it.

Dad could use some Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.

Dad could watch cartoons with his son and mom could sleep in

I enjoyed getting up early to watch Saturday cartoons. Never bothered my mom. Saturday cartoons have essentially vanished.

I remember sliding down the stairs on my bum, it was awesome.

Next the invention of the man cave.

My brother was exactly like that. Weekdays he had to be hauled out of bed by the leg. Saturdays he’d be up by 5,30. If we girls wanted to get a little extra sleep on Saturday, mom would have a list of chores as long as your arm. At 9 AM she’d be yelling, “The day’s half gone!” (The boy never did any chores.)

Ah yes, Saturday….. I personally can not say it’s great due to the fact that here we do not stay home on that faithful day

And leave Mom alone with Calvin? You’re just MEAN, Dad!

Today’s Saturday strip reminds me of the Saturday strip which brought the 3-week Baseball arc to a happy conclusion for Calvin. In the 3-week Baseball arc, Calvin had a very bad week at school because he was expected to play baseball with the other boys. On the last Saturday strip, Calvin was home for the weekend and enjoyed playing Calvinball with Hobbes.

Now this one I like. Cal’s exuberance and enthusiasm mirrors my own for one of my favorite childhood days. Panel 3 is especially well done and gets the point across in spades.

Dad could try morning drinking and see if it builds character……

Saturday mornings. I was more interested in breakfast……

What Calvin lacks in common sense, he makes up for enthusiasm when he’s happy :0)

Ugh… Every other day, you’d need heavy machinery to get Calvin out of the bed… But comes Saturday morning… He acts like he’s at Times Square!

Thank goodness for YouTube, I still love the Disney cartoons from the 30s and 40s. REAL talent to produce those animations, not like the digital junk today.

Same about vacation…..go back to work to get some rest!!!!!!

That’s about how I felt at 3:15 am when the dogs started up, except I’m retired and don’t have an office to escape to.

Pop could always get some ZZZs in the car. Grab a blankie and crank the seat back. Mmmm.

How Lucky are Who don’t have Kids.

Tragic how today’s children do not have the same role models as Our Be❤️ed Count: Snivley “Nya-ah-ah” Whiplash and Crabby “Rotten to the Core” Appleton.

It’s a great day! For some, anyway.

I remember Saturday morning. It was just about the only time cartoons were on and we did not have a channel totally devoted to them. Then there was the matter of whose turn it was to watch THE TV.

Those were the days!

You can make more money selling snake oil on Saturday morning TV. Rich kids get cartoons on-demand. Poor kids are saving up for snake oil.

I think my dad had me up relatively early on Saturdays. He always made breakfast on the weekends and then I’d watch cartoons.

Love the contrast between parents and kids living the same Saturday. The youngsters do enjoy the little things much more than the older ones. The happiness is contagious indeed. I guess it will fun if Parents can gel in the happiness and catch up on sleep on Sunday.

Coward.

But the whole point of Sat. morning cartoons, I thought, was to keep the kids busy so Mom and Dad could sleep in. They just have to tell Calvin to keep the noise down.

Well, when you come home you will be sleeping on the couch for a week.

Does anyone remember “Wonderama” on Sunday mornings with Sandy Fox? I’m dating myself!

Nonsense. I always had homework on weekends.

There is a new station called “MeTV Toons,” that apparently, has thousands of the OLD cartoons, to include almost every one mentioned in this comment section. You need to check your local cable company, to see what channel. It may involve programming your television, but, if you can get it, you’ll have them all.

As a younger adult, Sesame Street was my favorite TV program. Both my sons would sit quietly at the side of the couch while daddy got his nap.
