It’s kind of like the old Mitch Hedberg joke except extended over months: “I like rice! It’s great when you’re hungry and you want two thousand of the same thing.”

People don’t eat balanced, healthy diets; why should dogs?? ;-)

My mom had a dog with cancer. She fed him nothing but cooked hamburger and rice and he lived another 18 months. Human food is always better than chemically processed crap.

I found my Wife’s Great Pyrenees supplementing her diet with fresh squirrel yesterday. I guess that is part of keeping a balanced diet.

Hasn’t John seen the Beggin’ Strips commercial where the dog says “I can’t read”? So how can John expect Edgar to do the same as well?

A balanced healthy diet. Makes me wonder what’s the difference between an unbalanced healthy diet?

I imagine the price would be cheaper since the company doesn’t have to buy a balancing scale to measure the balance. Saves on company expenses.

We discovered our pet won’t eat the same thing for more than 2 weeks and will stop eating and drinking to point where it’s a trip to the vet. The vet said change out the flavors or brands and that resolved the problem – picky – picky – picky… Geez you would think she was royalty or something. I guess that’s why she’s called the princess (◔_◔)

Just leave the food for the rest of the day and Edgar will (maybe) eat it. Don’t force a pet to eat if they just don’t want to eat it NOW (when you want them to).

Edgar thinks to himself – “You guys eat different things for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so why shouldn’t I have a variety? I mean, who want to eat burnt brown birdy things every day”

I learned during the pandemic/supply chain mess that varying a pet’s diet is necessary. If that one flavor or brand that’s the only thing they’ll eat becomes unavailable, it can be nearly impossible to find something to replace it.

One time while dogsitting our granddog I made him a cheese omelet. I was later informed he only gets his certain, special food. Now every time he’s here we give him food, he comes over to me and stares for several minutes. Waiting for his cheese omelet. For 5 years now.

there you go…you got to switch them…i had my cat Mischief for 22 years, fed her twice a day, and she never ate the same thing twice, and she wouldn’t eat her dinner until i sat down to eat too, and then one day she began insisting to eat on the table with me, so our plates were together

After months of using FluentPet buttons, I started asking my two dogs what they’d like to supplement their kibble each meal — they’re really into broccoli and carrots, and we also have dehydrated pumpkin, broccoli, kale, and spinich powders I can make into gravies. Plus, wet dog food as an option. After using the yes/no buttons for a couple of weeks, they’ve gotten to where they just tap my palms for yes and no, and can order exactly what they want. It’s adorable to have that conversation with them twice a day (breakfast order is always the same, so no point to that), and to see what they’re in the mood for. Vet is, of course, thrilled they get so much veg.

My cat is doing that right now. He eats a combination of dry food and canned food, predominantly canned. Lately he prefers dry to canned.

Yep, a lot of pet foods say that, where the first ingredient is ‘milled corn.’ Really bad for our furry family members and the makers of these foods should be ashamed of themselves.
