I have a pair of flameless candle Christmas gumdrop tree that look a lot like the one in the middle over the bottom speech bubble in the first panel. I put them at the side edges of the shelf over my kitchen table. They are on timers and take rechargeable batteries.
The trees look like they’re made of bits of everything: pompoms, felt, cushions, doilies, and maybe something nubby, like shag carpeting, or perhaps terry cloth. Very festive little holiday forest!
I want them all — which is odd because I love real trees. I’ve never had an artificial tree, except for the tiny ones I used to put on my desk at work.
We have a nice 7’ artificial tree with pre-installed lights. Just snap the three parts together and plug it in, then plug in the star we added. No, it’s not up yet.
And while the lower orders gawk at their primitive “entertainment”, we in the Grumbling room will today discuss Kripke’s notion of rigid designators, which refer to the same thing in all possible worlds.
Yes, I agree! The trees are as beautiful (or more so ?) as Georgia’s rugs and throws. Lovely patterns, shapes and color pallet. They would make a lovely background in a kitty Christmas card, hint hint. Thanks Georgia for the beautiful artwork and cute storyline, as always !
Kit-‘And, I know a horse who can give free sleigh rides!’ Father O’ Kittery- ‘That sounds wonderful!’ Kit-‘Miss Cowlady, promised to give me warm milk, for the kittens!’ Father ‘O Kittery-’Amazing!’ Kit-‘I also got..’ Father O’ Kittery(putting up a paw to stop him) ‘Ok lad, stop! Your going to make this old cat have a hairball!’
Good morning. Foxy just woke me up jumping up to the bathroom counter. (For newcomers to the Orb, Foxy is a twelve-year-old Maine with arthritis. I haven’t known her to do anything like that in a long time, even with Cosequin and Tiki Mobility.) I can only attribute it to the change in atmospheric conditions between Southern California and South Central Indiana. Anyway, she seems to understand that the cat in the mirror isn’t an enemy, so I’m going back to bed.
My grandfather was an orphan, he would regale us kids about how he was given an Orange for xmas one year. Nobody was given toys, instead the orphanage would rent them out as “cheap labor” to neighboring farms.
Say what do he sell in other festeeval seasons? Artificial pumpkins? Artificial turkey? Artificial new years firecrackers? And then what else? Artificial intelligence? Oh waitsaminute. OH NOES!
“….In my heart is an artificial Christmas tree farm….where the kitties would play….and bat ornaments into the night….wearing their natural fur coats….the catnip would flow….and Kit’s gonna make it alright….” (apologies to Taylor Swift fans)
OT: Georgia inspires my creativity. I want to make these trees. I want to make Lil’ Starfish Squeaker, and I would love to make all the BCN crew. For 15 years I made a living off of soft sculpture, this comic makes me want to start up again. If only I could dump all my clients to spend my days creating. Some day…
I put up my table top 32" fibre optic tree this morning. Thor was the only cat in the living room at the time, and he is mightily confused by it. He has retired to the top of Buddha’s tank to consider the situation.
i have a new pup. Her name is Fawn. She is a whippet and terrier mix. Seriously cute.
I have posted photos of her at CleoAndCompany, which is a dot net.
Her and Buddy are getting along, that is to say she is mostly ignoring him. She has only snapped at him twice. He wants her to play but she is still in shock from being left here.
Kiki is not a happy kitty. She has set up shop in the closet. I’ve seen tis before. She as food water and a box. I’ll give er all the time it takes.
Fawn is experienced with cats so she knows to give the thing with all the pointy bits its space.
Loving how even some of the snowflakes are especially unique and artistic! So festive! And pairs well with the uniqueness of all the trees. I usually avoid artificial, but I’d buy the Pom Pom one!

Do you think the Artificial Christmas Tree Farm will have Tommybaum trees, too?

Pretty sure the trees ARE the cat toys. (And maybe the boxes they came in.)

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Happy Healthy Hospital Pyramid
Puckmosis: You ladies have done a beautiful job creating these decorative trees.
Sophititi: Thank you, Puck. It was a labor of love.
Maat-Tilda: I just love it when sculpture and fiber arts come together.
Puck: And thank you, Arachna, for your beautiful web tinsel. I looks like it came from the Land of Ice.
Arachna: This is my favorite project. I just came back from a sustainable locust plague, and now Thomios is making some Nommy Nom Spider Treats.
Adobe Style: I just can’t wait until the fundraiser begins. Is Lupinium going to do a program with the Getting Better Kittens?
Lupinium: I sure am!
Puck: Were you hiding in the tinsel of that white tree?
Lupinium: Where else?

So Father O’Kittery is a ginger/creamsicle…thank Ceiling Cat for Snowbelle’s “Dominant White” gene; it covered nicely for her indiscretion!
