Transcript:
Les: "You hit me on purpose, you little dingle!"
Gunther: "Why would I do that? I don't even know you"
Les: "Then get your twerpy butt outta here"
Gunther: "ON my way!"
In the last panel, Rosa is standing there grinning. Greaseball, ( I can say it ācause Iām Italian) had no right to grab Guntherās shirt in the first panel. His actions escalated the incident and Gunther complied with his request for him to leave. Too bad Gunther had another āoopsā moment on his departure! LOL
Geez, Gunth ā you read everything, you should know this: He grabs your shirt like that heās ASKING for a wrist-lock. Give it to him and enjoy the whimpers and the pleading. Then make him apologize to Rosa, and kick him in the face. Problem solved.
Doesnāt matter what happens nextā¦Guntherā¦now āG-Manā¦" has gotten in TWO of his first. Real fighters know what I mean. I was a dweeby dork who eventually became a Green Beretā¦I didnāt always win in those, but I always went for it. I still have friends from itā¦and marks. And Orionā¦ about then was the first couple of times I got to use the wristlock. Man was I GLAD of it, too, because I didnāt have anything then back of itā¦thanks to the Rosas, Iāve got a pretty good repetoire of behaviors NOWā¦thanks for the memoriesā¦and I donāt care what happens nextā¦Gunther is always the āG-Manā to MEā¦he totally surprised meā¦
BTW, Greaseball (I can say that because it is only used for jerks and I cannot accept that it offends anyone nice ā and I am European) is the only other tall character apart from Quill.
This reminds me of George McFly and Biff in the first Back to the Future" movie. Lets hope Gunther finds his spine and take the jerk out. The guy grabbing guntherās shirt is enough to be called assault (Gunterās action was an unintentional act, uh huh) Find that spine Gunther! Then when he has Rosa Tiffany can come in and try to steal him away. The plot thickensā¦
Take 1: fwump! Take 2: bomp! If Leslie had any smarts, which for now seems doubtful, heād leave the ālittle dingleā¦twerpy buttā alone if he values his machismo! Rosa (panel 3) is certainly starting to appreciate the New Model Gunther!
Not only does Rosa know exactly what Gunther is doing. She is clearly enjoying it. His very next move should be to say āGoing my way, Rosa?ā That will take both him and Rosa out of the line of fire.
Gunth canāt run because that would leave Rosa alone & in danger. He (& she) are going to have to see it through. My guess is that Rosa is going to demonstrate some fighting skills too.
James Dean, Fonzie, etc., all played greaseball roles. .Also ā Knox looks so much taller because he is rearing up, while Gunther ( fakely? ) cringes. He is probably taller than G. tho.
Is Gunther in the 3rd grade? I donāt condone fighting, but this is the wimpiest, most passive aggressive and pathetic excuse for fight Iāve ever seen. What a dweeb. If this had any resemblance to reality or real life, Gunther would be getting trounced by that guy right about now.
I donāt understand all the comments that say that Gunther is going to run. Morever, the ones that say he is going to beat up all miss the point. He is finally committing himself to protect the girl he really cares about, probably loves. He might get beat up, might not. How many of those uninformed commenters remember the Brad and Toni arc, along with her dangerous boyfriend? Greg Evans may throw a loop in terms of what happens next, but what makes the strip continually enjoyable is the wisdom in human relations with young people dealing with eternal emotions he demonstrates with it. Gunther is using his ābrainā to confront this jerk. And he is doing it for Rosa, who probably can take c/o herself by the way. (Throwing for a loop alert). That is the basic point here.
Both you and Kirk are biting on trollbait. Froggy clyde-style trollbait. Of course itsā an idiotic remark, but thatās what the resident troll does. He has a few sockpuppets, so please remember the name of this one and donāt feed him.
I love how even a dorky little guy is presumably more capable of handling a bulley than a normal-sized woman. Really, where would womankind be without the help of men? Weāre like perpetual helpless victims, except apparently when weāre huge b*tches all managing a workplace all wrong and being unfair to employees.
This is similar to Bradās girl Toni and the bully. I ām not sure where the artist is going with this. As far as the school personnel blowing it off, I did that once. Some girls came up and said āJames is making nasty comments to usā and I didnāt do anything, just told them go sit down. Next thing I knew James was in one office, girls in another and me in another. This was back in the 70ās. Things might be different today, All I know is it was a bigger deal than I made it.

Didnāt Chuck Berry have a song called āMy Dingalingā? I suggest the todayās strip is offensive to, err, whatever. Rock and Roll maybe.

Kanukles, Gunter with his backpack is the hero in this story.
I hope his friends come to his aid if he needs them.Otherwise Gunther just might surprise all of us.
Looks like another enjoyable subplot from Greg.

Gunther does have his talents, magic, etc. .He may even be able to cope with Knox in a fight. Didnāt he once take some training?
sjsczurek about 13 years ago
No. The new kid ā the greasy one ā is going to eat some humble pie. And the kid hitting him with the backpack is no loser.

How do we know his name is Knox?
hamguy about 13 years ago
I wouldnāt bet on that. This is a comic strip, not downtown Detroit/Philly.
I was a 117 # weakling at one time. A group of guys egged a big strong guy into hitting me. I had never had a fight in my life.
The big guy crawled away bloody. Lost 3 teeth and broken nose.
I was 17. Last fight I had.
Walk away a winner.
serenasakitty about 13 years ago
What does he carry in that pack? The whole town library?
doverdan about 13 years ago
The back pack is full of his books on the martial arts.
