It’s like six weeks worth of 9 Chickweed Lane in one Luann strip, but with less cello.

(which by the way, is my other favorite strip)

Bernice and Gunther are dancing….together. And they sat together during the ceremony. INNNTERESTING……

What’s “George Jetson” laughing about …?

This is a great panel of the reception and when I get up I will write more, but one thing I notice is that Bernice and Gunther are dancing together very nicely. Hmmmm, have they started to gravitate, FINALLY, to each other?

I wonder how many wedding cards with money in them Leslie has made off with.

I’ve not seen the dog—Snuggles? —in a long while. Nice to see he’s still part of the family, even if he would be 250-300 yrs. old by now in dog years.

I knew there would be lots of comments on Bernice and Gunther dancing. But I see something more subtle in that connection. Directly in front of them, in the foreground, Luann is dancing with Shannon. Luann is the only woman who is dancing, but not with a man. For about a year there has been a trend of showing that Bernice has an active interest in guys, while Luann has not, since her breakup with Quill. This may somehow say as much about Luann’s future character development as it might about Bernice’s and Gunther’s.

Luann is really good with children. Maybe she should be a mommy soon. On the other hand – Maybe there’s a rare talent emerging, and Luann should take the time to let it bloom.

Les actually seems to be, not only behaving himself, but, maybe even having a good time of it.

Hmmmm, WHERE is Jonah? Has he ducked out, as I have been expecting him to, since last month? Oh well, Nancy is a stay-at-home Mom, she can take care of Shannon, for a few days.

Look at that big smile on little Shannon, you can tell that she really loves her newly extended family! :)

Such interesting match-ups and dynamics in today’s strip. I particularly like the Les-and-Pru action, it’s worth a laugh in itself. And Leslie is still managing to ignore a guest that is tryng to get his attention as a waiter.

Bern & Gunther match-up: Good. Lu and Ox a possibility? He’d be sure to treat her right. Don’t know if she’d do the same for him…

It’s appropriate that Shannon is dancing with Luann, as she was really the first person that ever really reached out to her, when she was just a lonely little girl.

New observation: Bernice and Gunther no longer seem to be in an awkward place.

I like her better with Nil, but I suppose that would be too easy.

I really appreciate how characters from the past are brought back. Former neighbor, Mrs. Baird at the table. Very nice to honor her. Thanks for the info on ‘Puddles’. I didn’t know how they originally got him. I miss him not being featured regularly. I also think of the baby Luann often kept. Lindy, Linzy? or something like that (I guess she would be 11 or 12). I enjoy characters from years back being re-introduced.

Great to see ol’ Mrs Whatshername that Luann would bring Puddles to visit.A bit melancholy – feels too much like wrapup and ending the strip, bringing characters back to pop in. Should I worry if Delta appears?

All of you there are so many political sites to go flame at each other on ….. please go there and let the little corner of the web be a little fantasy world where we can forget about Trump, Obama, Clinton, Allepo, Iranian Nukes and worry about Bernice and Gunther….

Mrs. Baird, eh? I had been under the impression that Puddles was Mrs. Horner’s dog, originally. I didn’t realize Mrs. Baird was someone else. That had better not be a chicken leg Ox is giving Puddles. Bird bones are not something to feed a dog.

I’m not yet ready to read too much into Gunther and Bernice dancing together. He had a thing for her recently, but she hadn’t thought of him That Way before. They may just know one another better than they do any of the other guests.

I do think a Bernice / Piro / Gunther / Tiffany storyline is one of the more obvious next arcs, once we’re done with the wedding. Personally, I’m curious to see more developments with Les, Mr. Grey and Pru over Les’ private enterprise activities.

It does appear that Jonah has slipped off to an “audition” of some sort. Either that or he and his aunt are off chasing Pokemon.

I just read all the comments to make sure mine was not already voiced….. Am I the only one who notices how the guys in the center are not dressed up for a wedding? Maybe the one in uniform I can let slide. The old ladies in the front I give a pass to…being old, but I’ll bet in real life the old ladies would be very dressed up. What is this new phenomena of dressing in your every day clothes for a wedding? I saw that at my wedding in 1981…a handful of (young) guests came in pullover casual shirts…not even a “golf” shirt with a collar. No jackets. No ties. It was an extremely dressy wedding at a high end venue. I felt a bit hurt. And believe me, these folks had the money to dress properly. I hate how casual our society has become. If you can’t dress up for weddings and New Years Eve, then when?

Lots of innocent people are dying, whoever is telling the story. That was Jacks’ point. We can disagree on the politics and I agree that this is not the forum for that fight, but sometimes caring shows through. Luann is our focus here, and I think we all can agree that she and her saga are one piece of brightness in life on good and bad days. I have had horrible days when finding Luann in the Chicago Sun-Times, or on my computer was absolutely necessary, and other days when it was just fun, but all of them I appreciate, and I think, on this blog that should be the focus…. Hey what you think about the loud mouth firemen anyway huh? Personally I think he is one of the most enjoyable persons on the tableau in this arc. I am an African-American male who grew up in the projects on the South Side of Chicago, and you know some of the best people I knew as a kid, Black and White loud policemen and firefighters. Not having a father I guess I realized the true men these guys were, guys who would lay their lives down in an instance if duty calls. So if you want to be serious, let me just say, that loud-mouth is cool, on so many levels.

Amen, I think about the children personally. Killing anyone is a war crime, if they are innocent civilians, killing innocent children is monstrous whoever does it.

Standard wedding reception. Old folks table, stag table, somebody trying to be a matchmaker (probably Luann) with the couple in the background, Luann filling the unaccompanied Maiden Aunt roll and dancing with the small children, waiters ignoring the guests. Typical reception scene.

Getting back on topic (there are better forums for political diatribes, people!): Gunther and Bernice are dancing together! New romantic storyline now that B&T are hitched?

When Gunther came back from Peru, Bernice maybe regarded him as a changed person, a man now with new mysteries for her to discover. Soon it became evident that he’s still his same old whiny self, except now he was also surly towards his Mom. It’s no wonder Bernice lost interest in him. He should have stayed in Peru.

i am happy to know that other readers have remembered the tattoos. i kept looking to see if Toni’s would be shown. finally others and myself have gotten to see that the tattoo is still there.

I wonder what Les and Pru are talking about. Is he asking her for something? Is he trying to get out of his share of the work? She is carrying dishes and he doesn’t seem to be carrying any. I’m sure he is up to no good.

Wiley Millers strip Non Sequitur is, to me,one of the best political strip around, equal to Doonesbury. I can go back years and find his strip still relevant today.

Sad part of Jonah not being there is that he is not missed. Everyone seems to be having a great time without him.

Those of you who believe Tiffany should be at Toni and Brad’s wedding seem to have forgotten something basic: who is getting married. Toni and Brad are not friends with Tiffany, didn’t go to high school with her, don’t see her even occasionally. She’s not a relative of either of them.

I still don’t get why Bernice and Gunther are there, for the same reason. Tiffany, Bernice and Gunther are part of Luann’s group. Why should Toni or Brad invite total strangers to their wedding?

Shannon was NOT the daughter of Mrs Lewis, she was the niece… Lindy was the daughter, thus, even if she were the same Shannon, she would never have been Lewis… unless Her mother and Lindy’s married brothers, so saying she isn’t Shannon Lewis is obvious, and meaningless, as to whether it’s the same Shannon.

Geez, no one could have asked Tiffany as their plus one? She didn’t necessarily have to be directly invited. I think she is a major enough character that she should have been included in this panel. Just my humble opinion.

When Brad and Toni got engaged, there were lots and lots of comments posted herein about how Luann, Bernice, Tiffany, and Delta should be bridesmaids. Of course, there is no reason that Luann’s friends should even be invited at all, much less be a part of the ceremony. Apparently the people who posted those comments just wanted to see those long-time characters wearing bridesmaids’ gowns, whether it makes any sense in the story or not.

Consider what pops up on Google when I request the definition.

Notice “intrigue” is not inherently involved. It is possible to honestly tell what you think should be done even if you don’t do it yourself and it would still be part of politics.

For instance, if I vote Libertarian, it doesn’t mean I am trying to gain power to blow up the world, rather that I consider a somewhat ignorant pot-head preferable to the two main candidates. I exercise a degree of power as part of a group which could have changed the direction of the election had we chosen to vote for the one who lost or we could fortify the winner’s victory by being part of his “Mandate”

Notice, it is not just to gain power, but also the use of same and its retention.

Notice it doesn’t even have to deal with governance, the “social relations” part is important, though.

Debates would involve people trying to convince others to their way of thinking, not — of course — people shouting at each other or about each other.

I tend to think of it more as a means of determining direction of action or future goals, including the opposition to unwise directions or counterproductive goals.

But, for me, the most intriguing of these numerous pairings, for better or for worse, is the very tentative linkage between Les “Hard” Knox and Prudence. That could be a supernova!

Come to think of it, who else would Bernice and Gunther find there to dance with?

A friend made me notice that i should have pointed out that what is interesting is the quiz in the first link i sent today.

I hope that Bern and Gunther dancing together is not significant. There have been so many more interesting arcs involving Bernice and other guys that it would be boring and a let-down if she started going out with Gunther. I’m going to predict that she is doing this in order to patch her ‘friendship’ with Gunther. There was a lot misunderstanding between the two. Hopefully this is just her effort to put those problems to bed.

Oh, I love it, I Love it, I LOVE IT!!! :) What a Great Wedding Party!!! Almost everyone who crossed (and was crossed by) Brad and Toni’s paths is there (but, Where did Toni’s brother go?!…Guess Greg and his family went home, too!). Everyone is sooooo happy! That is what wedding parties should be about…puts me in a Great mood, too! I Love weddings…the promise of hope, love, and caring! Once the party is over, and the best that is to come comes true, the hard work begins as their separate lives merge into one. However, I think, as their love gets stronger and stronger, they will be able to successfully overcome the problems and the challenges of married life. Congratulations, Brad and Toni! Now, what did I do with my champagne glass…?!

Mikey, unless they were single mothers, or kept their maiden names and the children had those (which i have seen done in some families), or they married men w the same names as their maiden name, or Lindy’s mom used “sister” to refer to sister-in-law as well as sister (which i have also seen done in some families). More likely his inclusion of that name was just a designator to tell the two Shannons apart, though.
