Ah. I see “Sheena, Queen of the Jungle,” is home. Good. And none the worse for wear. And judging by her appearance, she’s ready for a 20 something Pigpen from the Charlie Brown Strip.
Never do anything for your kids that they can do for themselves. So, don’t touch Luann’s stuff. Wait for her to get back to it herself. If she doesn’t, then you may touch it. Put it on the front porch. If that doesn’t work, put it on the walkway and so forth until it is on the curb. Then put a “FREE” sign on it.
I see Luann’s habit of congratulating herself for every teensy step out of her comfort zone remains alive and well. Waiting out a rainstorm in a vehicle becomes “I braved the elements and won” as if she sat outside the whole time.
HOORAY! LUANN WON!. She looks so brave, happy strong and Beautiful! Her parents can stop being worried about her safety and start again to worrying about other things. I just hope the Squirrel lives with Bernice now.
It always makes me laugh at the judgmental comments when a silly kind of hilarity ensues Luann arc is featured. I mean I laugh at the comic too, that is part of it’s appeal to me. Having raised kids who had a relaxed shall we say idea of chores being home (not that we insisted on as much as we could) I understand this arc totally. The main thing is whether the child is a good person. I bet Luann would be a neat as a pin in her own place. Of course going to community college and not Mooney we never get to see a dorm room.
If this was my home, the first response would be: that stuff goes in the garage until you clean it, and if it’s not clean by trash day, it’s going on the curb.
My mom would have thrown a fit if I brought dirt like that into the house. All things fabric go right into the laundry – strip down in the garage if you are covered in mud then wrap up in a towel to get to the shower – everything else gets hosed off in the back yard.On one occasion I was hosed off in the backyard before I was de-mucked enough to come into the house at all.
Hang on… the camping trip was only one day? And… how exactly did Luann’s grubby camping crap get inside the house BEFORE she made her grand entrance? Does the DeGroot family have matter transporters so she could send her crap home first before she appears triumphantly at the doorstep? Why did she spend the night in cold, wet, muddy clothing when she had FOUR suitcases of (presumably) clothing? Why is she so dirty? oh yeah… packing that one gallon of iced tea instead of 5 gallons of water. Yup!
Missing from the strip because we spent 5 days of boring parental agonizing… The girls spent the night in the car in their cold, wet, muddy clothing. Squirrel hid in the car and they weren’t about to try and hunt for it or grab it with their bare hands at night in such close quarters. After a restless night in the car, the sun came up and they immediately left the campground and drove to the nearest gas station. They were in heaven, using real bathrooms with genuine plumbing and running water! Take that, Mother Nature! Their starvation was assuaged by gas station breakfast burritos and coffee. Immediate needs now taken care of, they sat at a table and talked about how wonderful the whole experience was. And they all made plans on their next camping trip at the gas station, or at a Central Valley Rest Stop, where they can commune with wild animals (squirrels), see the sunset and any potential meteor showers, but bathrooms and running water are right there.
Dez drops Bernice off first. The squirrel follows her, and takes up residence in a tree in Bernice’s back yard!!! Now she will have a forever friend to remind her of the trip!
Wow, Luann’s hair looks kinda good that way. She should stick with the “unkempt mane” look. Maybe volunteer to make over Tiffany the same way (since that girl has literally had the exact same hairstyle since the third grade.)
clearly the stuff is in the hall. She brought it in and is now about to actually enter the house so she is making her pseudo-announcement, tongue in cheek.
Stop right there young Lady. We’re glad you had fun. Now, let’s get all this mess back outside. We will help you carry it. You can hose it all off and let it dry in the sun. After you grab a hot shower it should be dry and ready for you to put away. Don’t forget to check on it! And we can’t wait to hear about your adventures in the wild.
Luann braved the elements and won, like it it was some kind of battle, as if nature was her opponent. I imagine Dez didn’t see it that way. Dez viewed herself as being immersed in nature, trying to be one with nature. Nature is not a foe.
190 comments so far today for Luann looking like she hitch hiked home in the back of a garbage truck. 130 yesterday for Frank and Nancy getting undressed and going to bed. If that had been Tiffany and -———-, this arc would have run on for another week.
Luann should clean up her stuff first and then shower. That is of course the gag… but I hope Nancy and Frank do not clean it for her AND insist she do it when she gets out of the shower.

Methinks “Mother Nurture” will also take care of Luann’s laundry. (I wonder what it was like when Bernice and Dez got home.)

Frankly, Luann is way over stating the experience. But hey; if that’s the way GnK need to present it, who the heck am I to differ?

No, you SHOULD be saying: *"Luann, get your butt back her and clean this mess up — NOW!" BUT helicopter moms don’t do that, I guess.

More eventful, though.

They wouldn’t let Puddles in the house looking that bad. Luann, unfortunately, still has the mentality of a 10 year old.

Hot shower. Hot bod. Let’s check in on Tiffany and see if she’s opted for a nice long shower, too.
