Arlo Guthrie has pointed out that the gap in the Nixon White House tapes is almost exactly the length of “Alice’s Restaurant.”

Luann would do well to distract Bernice with a song. Maybe that one if she has to fast forward that much.

Ah. Finally!!! we get Luann dumping on Bernice. Albeit via tape from 6 years before, and Luann is mortified, but the tape speaks truth to annoyers!

I don’t know why Luann decided to play that tape in front of Bernice. She has no memory of what she said on any of those tapes.

If yesterday was “no sense of humor day”, it carried over to today. This arc still isn’t amusing.

Please GnK, drop the emotional catastrophe and put the girls on a new venture they can both enjoy.

Embarrassing for Luann, but she didn’t say anything about Bernice that isn’t true.

There was a reason why vintage diaries had a locking tab.

So now Bernice will be mad at Luann for things said YEARS ago. Because, of course, things never change, right?

Time for Ann Eiffel to appear and liven things up.

Luann may have talked crap about Bernice in her private diary, but Bernice has talked crap about Luann to other people. But naturally Bernice doesn’t care about pointing out her own hypocrisy, only the hypocrisy of others.

Why are you playing it for her anyway? Diaries are private. I’d never share mine with anyone.

I’m sure that a couple of days ago Mr. Phelps warned us that if Luann played the tape, something or someone would self-destruct.

Well, that gives them the opportunity to talk about their BFF relationship. Unpack and share. Bernice, predictably, will say she put up a lot listening to her monologues and learned to snark because advice just went over her head. Luann will say she did not want advice, just a sympathetic listener which she was not – that is, sympathetic. Then Bernice will once again say Luann didn’t want advice so all Bernice could offer were words that might help her see herself more clearly which are often described as snarks by her fans (Luann’s) in here.

Meanwhile, 30 minutes of “zzzzzzzzzzzzzzt” later…

The comic strip we all knew was coming has finally arrived and I would have to breathe a collective sigh of relief that we are finally done waiting for that.

The problem here is that for all the manufactured drama, we know that Bernice and Luann won’t ever stop being friends (no matter how toxic their friendship is). The status quo will remain firmly in place, so what’s the point of today’s strip?

Luann seems to remember very well what she thought of Bernice at that age… That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see if Bernice is going to be very upset about something Luann said when she was 13 or she’ll be a mature person and just laugh. Actually, it’s pretty obvious that she won’t be able to be a mature person. So how ridiculously offended will she be? Will she stop talking to Luann? Will Nancy be “forced” to talk to Bernice to make her understand how unreasonable she is? More than friends or enemies, Luann and Bernice really seem to be sisters.

Haha. Busted…

If she took off the filters about Bernice, I wonder what she said about Tiffany lol and (gulp)……Delta?

Hey, Bernice, now tell her about the road trip you and Delta went on to DC where you talked about how great it was that Luann wasn’t there.

Never share your diary with anyone, especially someone you might secretly despise.

Whatever Luann said about Bernice was justified—that comment “Why would Aaron notice you?” was totally rude, hurtful and uncalled for.

“I think I’ll play my recorded diary for the most critical and judgmental person I know. What could go wrong?”

Seems that Bernice NEEDS to hear this. Someone should have told her a LONG time ago! She needs to get her head out of her butt and realize how judgmental she can be!

Past Luann, please tell us how you REALLY feel about Bernice. Let her speak, present Luann!

If one didn’t know better, one would think that G&K were writing/drawing this daily on the daily based on reader comments used for content.

So, Luann had better sense when she was younger. And by 13 she was a knockout.

Nothing new there. Best friends are annoying at times, but since they are always there for us when we need them, they remain our best friends.

Good thing Bernice is hearing this. Maybe she will finally start to get a clue. Even her best friend finds her annoying.

Perhaps the tape reveals that Luann had the hots for Bernice.

The truth finally comes out…!

yes, clearly (as some have pointed out) this is where this arc is going i.e. the unspoken (all this time), leading to an argument and the friendship possible going on the rocks for a short period; it won’t end but things will have to be sorted out.

yes, you don’t read your personal diary to others even if it is your bff. But Luann has been unable to confront Bern over her constant negative judging; this is the only way it can happen. Luann needs to learn to speak her mind a bit more. Lets see how it goes.

How I really felt (still feel) your sarcastic behavior, but as BFF’s do I love you anyway, so maybe this should not be heard. Bur I can predict a “moment” is sure to hilariously (I hope) arrive net panel set or two.

Why are they friends again?

Another example of these two being very different; Luann keeps too much of her thoughts bottled up while Bern could stand to keep it zipped now and then. But these two are the perpetual and yin and yang of friendship so I don’t think it will be the end for them.

Okay,I think everybody older than age 7 figured out THIS was going to happen…..

Luann only has one girlfriend now and that’s Berniece. We haven’t seen Tara in ages. If she loses Berniece she will have no one in her life as a friend except Jack.

Nobody likes everybody all of the time.

It’s past time for a talk with Bernice about how her sarcasm and snarky comments can be hurtful. It’s good to have a friend who sees through your B.S., but why can’t Bernice just tell Luann in plain language and kinder words when she thinks she’s going wrong? Nobody likes a smart-ass.

And why does Luann look so nervous and frightened in the 3rd and 4th panels? Why should someone be afraid of their best friend? Some things are not right in this relationship.

Why did Luann play her long forgotten innermost thoughts to Bern? It makes no sense. Who does this? This strip is so aggravating.

This was your idea, Luann. Deal with it! And maybe benefit Bernie with a Truth Bomb, too….

I think this is generally applicable and just uses “servant” as an outstanding or extreme example: Ecclesiastes 7:21  Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee: // — We all feel friction from other people and sometimes the heat causes us to boil over; if you happen to hear (or hear about) someone “badmouthing” you, don’t get mad at them, shrug your shoulders, shake it off, and maybe think about how maybe you really could improve in some ways, eh?
