In our fridge, there’s a full-width drawer under the two “veggie or fruit” drawers. It’s name is “Cheese Drawer” and with the exception of the 3 kinds of tortillas, that’s all it holds. We do NOT consider it a problem!

I remember when “Laughing Cow” was still written in French (“La Vache Qui Rit”). I liked it then, and now — and in between of course. Our cat is also fond of that particular cheese. But don’t try her on any of the other cheeses found in the Pickle fridge.

Sounds like my wife. She’ll buy things speculating she may want to eat them someday, and believes nothing can go bad in the refrigerator. I clean it out periodically… and discourage her from coming with me to the grocery store.

The open refrigerator door reminds me of this. I had to take my daughter to the hospital She spent so much time in front of the refrigerator trying to make up her mind what to eat that she got frost bite.

Pshrink to Opal: what is your problem?

    Opal: I like cheese.

Pshrink: there’s nothing wrong with that. I myself like cheese.

Opal: Well, come to my house! I have thousands of them!

Hubby’s father and stepmother were not well off, so every year we’d send them a gift box from Figi’s. One summer I was digging in the fridge looking for something to nibble on, and found a block of Figi’s sharp cheddar, which I put up on the counter. When I stood up, it was gone. Stepmother had dropped it into the trash. “We never eat that stuff, and I don’t know where it comes from.” I told her I’d eat it – it was still in the wrapper – but we never sent them any more.

Leftover cheese sauce can be used to make macaroni & cheese.

Ooo, it’s time to make mac and cheese! It’s best with whatever random bits and bobs of cheeses are left over—except feta, that doesn’t tend to melt. Best mac and cheese I ever made was a blend of four cheeses, one of which was fontina.

It’s only a problem if you’re lactose-intolerant, which I’m not. Earl, cheese sandwiches are good, but don’t forget the salami or turkey breast. (and spicy brown mustard!)

Remember when cheese was reasonably priced? Then they discovered they could triple (or more) the price by adding the word “gourmet” to the same cheese.
