When I was little, I didn’t like onion. When I was ten, I ate onions all the time, and at 65 now I still do.

Fresh mushrooms are so good! Canned/jarred mushrooms, not so much.

I like mushrooms now, but as a kid I picked the mushrooms out of the creamed-tuna-on-toast and lived to tell about it. But I remember what they tasted like, and wouldn’t willingly eat those little diced canned ones even now.

In the words of Calvin’s father, “Eat the mushrooms. They’ll build character.” ;)

I tried spinach a few times, and absolutely hated the taste.

The thing that bothers me the most about mushrooms is the mouth feel.

When I was a kid the only time I had mushrooms was when we had a pizza which was rare. I didn’t mind them then but later on I looked at one and thought what is this gross thing? It was a gakky brown color and slimy. After that I couldn’t eat them. Slimy fungus, not fit for human consumption.

I live in the woods and folks often stop by and pick the wild mushrooms!

Parsnips. My father grew them and my mother would put them in the soup. I hated parsnips! So I would pick them out of the soup, I even got good at telling them from potato chunks.

Meanwhile, Hammie looks to be more than willing to take on a life-warping experience with gusto.

There’s a fungus among us.

My husband chops up the mushrooms really fine before putting them in the sauce. I have a (adult) nephew who says that he won’t eat spaghetti with mushrooms, but eats my husband’s. Oh, and yes, he knows.

Had a sibling that picked every piece of onion and bell pepper out of everything that had them.

Ugh! Really? They’re just mushrooms!!

Good thing she didn’t see that the peas and spaghetti are touching.

I can’t stand mushrooms. Wish I did since they are served in so many dishes.

I’m with Zoe. I am not a fan mushrooms. When my Mama would make tuna noodle casserole and used Cream of Mushroom soup, I would pick out the mushroom pieces. I deplore them but the only mushroom I could or would eat where the sliced ones that were on the Wendy’s salad bar years ago. I buried them under copious amounts of ranch and blue cheese dressings.

Buy the time Zoe picks all the pieces of mushroom out of her spaghetti, it’ll be bed time an dthe drama will be over.

Enough of the histrionics! Go to you room and I will deal with you in about a week. And after you eat your spaghetti.

I LUV breaded fried mushrooms.

Mushrooms?? In spaghetti sauce?

No, no, no! Tomato, garlic, oregano, basil; ground beef if you’re doing Bolognese. Full stop.

It would seem neither Rick nor Jerry married an Italian girl……..

(I did, but Her family’s Napolitano, so meatballs, not meat sauce.)

Mmmmmm. Mushrooms.

When I was a young boy my mom said I would go to the kitchen and grab a tomato and eat it. Lately if they’re on sale I grab the Cherry tomatoes and pop ’em in my mouth like grapes for a snack.

Ok then, no dinner.

I learned, when our kids were small, that if you chop it fine, they will eat almost anything.

I don’t know why Zoe would have a problem with picking out the mushrooms since being picky is part of her nature.

I’m with Zoe. I don’t knowingly eat fungus. If I do so accidentally, I don’t fuss about it, on the scale of organisms I eat I don’t go below vegetables.

Bruh you will hardly even taste the mushrooms.

When my kids were little, if they said they didn’t like some food I told them it was because they were not old enough to like it yet. Then they were willing to try it again to see if they were old enough to like it yet….amazingly sometimes they were.
