Poor Elvis! Goldie has her claws in his back and bum. I hope there’s enough poofage under his clothes to protect him. Maybe Lupin will lose his bell in the scuffle! Puck is smart to protect his plate. I LOVE that middle panel! Do I spy Lupin toe beans in that last panel?
Check for bones? Me kitties used to eats whole fishies with no bones remaining. They also used to eats little bats and not even a little bone was left.
In panel two, Puck and Goldie are obviously already plotting their strategies of attack. Panel three shows that Puck’s worked. As they say in real estate, Goldie, “Location, location, location.”
When the Woman eyes the amount of fish she’s going to give the feline sharks, unless she thinks “I’m going to need bigger plates,” it’s not enough. Not nearly enough.
With our two one, cat will eat his portion quite daintily while the other gives a sniff and then walks away. So the second portion goes to the first cat or the dog depending in which is faster. But there must be a second portion or there will be a wounded look from second cat. Silly little critter.
Only one piece of fish is so perfect, so precious, the one that Good Boys (and Girls) deserve! I believe Pucky is deserving, but he will have to earn it.
That was like telling Black Friday shoppers to proceed into the store in a calm and orderly fashion with no pushing or shoving. It’s a waste of breath.
I have a dog that gets medicine in his breakfast. I have a cat that demands being fed before the dog. So she gets a small amount of wet food before I even make my coffee. If I do not feed her first. she will go to the bedroom door and meow loudly trying to get hubby up so she can tell him. And gets louder if he does not immediately get up and fix it.
My late loving wife and I never really gave any of our animals fish, however there was always what we called chicken from heaven whenever she made soups. When I/we deboned the boiled chicken all of the dogs and cats would be there waiting for some of it. The dogs also liked the carrots that had been boiled as well. I miss my loving wife and all of the animals that we lost in 2020 and 2021 and all of the rest too.
When Big Gray and his departed brother were little ones. Big Gray would always eat with his backside against the wall, so he could keep a look out for his brother trying to ambush him to eat his food.
I’ve told this story before but it is so on-topic for today.
When Colette was just a adolescent kitten, it was clear she was destined to be the top cat. One day, as a test, I prepared equal portions for her and the two adult cats, I placed the portions in identical saucers on the floor about two feet apart in an equilateral triangle.
Colette immediately jumped into the middle of the triangle and confronted the other cats, “Everybody be cool.” She proceeded to examine all three before deciding that one was marginally “better”.
The only possible way this could be more chaotic is to put the fish bits into a tiny fish-shaped pinata, and then let the BCN crew swat at it until it explodes into a shower of fish-confetti ….
This reminds me of a true story about Joe Meek, the mountain man. He was chosen to present the Oregon Territory’s application for statehood. He was quite the celebrity in Washington. One evening, he was taken to Delmonico’s for dinner. He ordered a steak. The waiter brought it to him. Joe looked at it, consumed it in three bites, and said: “That will do fine. I’d like about five pounds of that.” They brought it to him, and he ate it all in the time the other guests finished their own meals.
Come to think of it, “Joe Meek” would be a good name for some cats I have known.
re: bell episodes brought to mind a stray that became an indoor/outdoor cat. When he wanted OUT he would scratch the door. I tied a bell to a string & tied it onto the doorknob-after 2 days show & tell he would ring the bell, which I would hear & let him out, saving the door. Yes, cats be trained—if its in their own best interests!

Which is why, when we provide Toona for our cats, the Toona plates are at different ends of the kitchen. Less squabbling that way!

I have a fool proof salmon cooking technique. Requires a cast iron skillet and a 450 degree oven. But I’m guessing the kitties are okay with raw.

Abba: Gimme, Gimme, Gimme
Half past seven
And I’m grabbing a plateful of fish for my own
How I wish Lupin and Goldie would leave me alone!
Grabby paws
Reaching for my plate as I look around the room
And it makes me feel my plate may be doomed!
…….
There’s not a soul out there
Cat, please hear my prayer!
…….
Gimme, gimme, gimme a plate of fish right now
Woman, please come and chase the other cats away
Gimme, gimme, gimme a plate of fish right now
Who knows if there will be fish for another day?
…….
Hungry cats
Getting the plate from the Woman is a fortunate thing
But there are three other cats in the house I am living in
Hungry and waiting for their dinner as well
I look into the kitchen and see the fish, delight
But there’s my other cat friends all right there in sight
…….
There’s not a soul out there
Cat, please hear my prayer!
…….
Gimme, gimme, gimme a plate of fish right now
Woman, please come and chase the other cats away
Gimme, gimme, gimme a plate of fish right now
Who knows if there will be fish for another day?

She plates paradise
Puts it down still hot
At the big pink house, you freak
As Pucky grabs his spot
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you got
Till it’s gone
Puck’s in paradise
And puts up with an uncouth lot
He’s got the best fish
Now every cat wants to be him
They rudely crowd within
A swipe and a half just to see him
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till it’s gone
Handed paradise
We want what Pucky’s got
