Ah, I suspected Iggy has a trace of Mr. Literal, to say nothing of an anxious Puck watching the broadcast. Do not worry Puck, there is no lava and no dragons, at least not in the Big Pink House.
The native Hawaiians have two names for hardened lava that have been adopted as geological terms: “pahoehoe” is the stuff that has a ropy surface texture and is easy to walk on; the shattered, sharp surface texture type is “aa.” You don’t walk on the latter with bare feet.
Ora in the last panel reminds me of Lupin in the Aug 10, 2015 strip There’s a button under the desk….on www.breakingcatnews.com (sorry I’m not good with posting links.)
The anniversary of the beginning of BCN was just 4 days ago. I just now saw that Georgia posted about it four days ago. “9 years ago today Lupin knocked everything off a shelf and I scribbled out a quick little funny comic about it for friends on Facebook. Within days I’d check to see if the domain “breakingcatnews” was available, letting that make my decision for me. Thank goodness it was. Soon the comic would be catching on—momentarily stuck with the quick, thrown together artwork at first. (My art degree still winces. ) Webcomic, newspapers, and the seventh book out in October—it’s been an amazing (and fast!!) nine years.Next year will mark TEN YEARS of ‘Breaking Cat News’! I can’t believe it! Thank you so much for reading and enjoying my stories and jokes. It feels like a miracle that I get to make this wonderful comic and somehow people love to read it. Thank you!!”
Poor Iggy, being led astray by both Lupin and Ora Z. PUCK! It’s time to done your “Lost in the Big Pink House” explorer suit and go get Ora Z. Past her noonsies nap time.
I remember playing “The Floor is Lava” in my Nana’s living room one afternoon when she was watching me while my parents were shopping. They came back just in time to take me to get stitches under my right eyebrow (I missed the couch and banged my head on the arm of a chair).

Ora Z appears to have finally gone from 100 to 0. While Iggy tries to figure out how to navigate the lava floor.

Iggy, stay with the sane one. Lupin, you keep an eye on the nut.

Iggy and Goldie are going to be consumed by the lava. They’re doomed.

Dust, cobwebs, and maybe dragons, and now Lava?! Puck don’t listen to the small cat, she’s just being her silly self.

I gotta say, kitties in hazmat suits are just too cute.

Brave New Worlds, same old Lupin and Ora. Poor Iggy.

There’s Ora in the last panel being super-dramatic with one paw to the forehead and one thrown out to the side.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Artisans’ Studio
Iggy Shipwright: Hi, everyone! You know my friend, Ora Zed. She’s interested in learning creative things.
Maat-Tilda: Hello, Iggy and Ora. Yes, we’ve heard about some of your interests. I think we can help.
Ora: Iggy said I have to wait to use woodworking tools until I’m older.
Sophititi: Yes, that would be wise. But I think we have some things you could do now that you’d enjoy.
Tillie: I’m making some climbing curtains that need to be tested for durability. Interested?
Ora: Yes! The floor is quicksand! Gotta stay above t!
Tillie: That’s the idea.
Sometime Later
Sophititi: Ora, can you help me with my kintsugi project?
Ora: Sure. What do you need?
Soph: Well, kintsugi involves repairing broken pottery beautifully with gold. These pieces don’t break themselves!

How does “higher ceilings” work? The picture on Sunday, March 12th, 2023, doesn’t seem to agree.
Maybe the ceiling looks higher – somehow – or… the carpet isn’t so thick?
