From Thimblefist’s tiniest salute, to the Robber Mice’s We came for the owl. This really will be all about the size of the fight in the furry creature, not the size of the furry creature.
If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you’re already dead! – Maximus Decimus Meridius
While reading through the archives earlier this week, I realized that Thimblefist’s BEEF armor is actually a cat food can! I’d never noticed that before. Check out May 28, 2022 for a glimpse of it!
Wonderful set up by Georgia but we know she’ll end with a gentle and peaceful solution. Remember the Christmas special with Puck vowing vengeance on the mice and that was the beginning of the great cat/mice friendship. We do have a few bloodthirsty commenters here who are going to be very disappointed.
Owl spotting in my yard last night! We have a barred owl couple I hear frequently, and presumably their children since I heard their mating song earlier this year (if you have never heard a barred owl mating song, it’s well worth looking up on YouTube – they sound like a coven of insane cackling witches), but I rarely spot them with my eyes. So, last night I stepped out to enjoy the beautiful night air and the company of raccoons. Was doing a few stretches and calisthenics when I glanced up, and directly over my head on a branch was the barred owl, barely out of arm’s reach! Almost completely invisible in the gray darkness. The moment I spotted him, he launched himself, in perfect eerie silence, and soared to the top of the oak tree nearest the house, where he proceeded to serenade the neighborhood with “WHOOO? WHOOO? WHOOO COOKS FOR YOUUU?” continually for the next half hour. The raccoons, large and small, shot across the yard and disappeared under the neighbor’s owl-proof deck. A barred owl would pose no threat to our 50+ lb monster male raccoon but he was taking no chances.
I imagine this was the owl expressing outrage at the dumb person who would not stop moving around and go inside like a sensible diurnal human!

On the subject of British comedies, my favorites are So Haunt Me, Mulberry, As Time Goes By, Waiting for God, and Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister. All were shown on my local PBS station at one time or another. Not many people are familiar with the first two here, but I really enjoyed them.

From Mary Poppins: Well Done, Sister Suffragette
We are a band of friends from the Wild
Protecting every animal and child
Though we all like moles individually
We believe that as a group they’re quite misguided!
…….
Cast off the tunnels of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our kits and pups will all adore us!
And they’ll sing in grateful chorus
Well done, Mags Army in the Wild!
…….
From the stone wall to the Big Pink House
One hears the restless cry!
From every corner of the field,
Animals arise!
Take back the field and share once more
Every hill and glen
Unite, we know that Wicket
Must be defeated again!
…….
No more hiding in the shadows, no cowering we!
We’re fighting for our field militantly!
Never You Fear!
…….
Cast off the tunnels of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our kits and pups will all adore us!
And they’ll sing in grateful chorus
Well done, Mags Army in the Wild!

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Artisans’ Studio
Maat-Tilda: I’m glad you’re here with us, Mo.
Monet Chagall from Away: I’m learning so much. And there are so many jewels I hardly know what to do with them all.
Sophititi: Why not make a mosaic depicting some facts you want to convey?
Mo: I could. Is there anyone who is good at making that kind of display?
Adobe Style: I know just the cat.
Enter Puckmosis
Tillie: Puck, this is Mo from afar.
Puck: Glad to meet you, Mo.
Mo: The pleasure is mine. Do you have a chart that is especially beautiful and informative.
Puck: Yes. I think I have just the thing. A chart depicting a legendary battle.
Mo: Great. But what makes it legendary?
Puck: The facts have been lost in futurity.

Mice are back with a brand new intention
Hoping to grab a hold of evil owl tightly
Get back at Wicket fast and unpolitely
Will they ever stop?
Yo, no one knows
It becomes night and away they’ll go
To the extreme they rock a sword like a vandal
Light up with rage with an owl to dismantle
Advance
Go rush the Wicket that looms
He’s so through spreadin’ heartache and gloom
Deadly, when they chop him like celery
Anything less than their best won’t stop villiany
Love him or leave him
He better fly away
They better make clear
The owl can’t stay
And if he is a problem
Yo, they’ll solve it
Check out her sword while Natasha revolves it
