We had to do that when Shelly moved in. But not the chip thing as they weren’t a thing back then.

Ah-ha! Now I know why Georgia is running this story. It’s to help people know what to do when they find a lost pet.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile (Classic Edition)

    At the Great Pyramid

Beatrixia: Hello, everyone. What brings you to the No Longer Hidden Library?

Maat-Tilda: Actually, we’re here to get gold for repairing Thomios’ tray.

    Bea: Oh, my! What happened?

    Tillie: Lupinium.

    Bea: Gotcha.

Sophititi: Ohariko-San and Li-San have a way of fixing the tray and making it even more beautiful.

    Shisho-San: Do you mean kintsugi?

Li-San: Yes. Iron Glove has graciously agreed to prepare gold from the room in front of here so we can begin.

Iron Glove: I’ve made some of the gold into powder. Now you can add it to the lacquer to make the adhesive.

Li-San: Now Tillie-San, if you wouldn’t mind holding these pieces together for a few minutes.

    Tillie: Not at all.

    Bea: It’s so beautiful!

Li-San: Now its story can continue.

Shisto-San: And you can find scrolls about it under the number 738.18.

    Meanwhile, Back in Rhode Island

Sophie: Thank you for letting me use your tray to hold my art project, Thomas. How long has it been in your family?

Tommy: I don’t know. It seems like we’ve had it since forever.

We were discussing toasted cheese sandwiches yesterday. I mentioned that I like a few strips of bacon on mine. Uncle Snipe replied and said add a slice of tomato. At this point, we may as well just go for a BLT with cheese. I actually ordered that in a restaurant once and they said they couldn’t figure out how to put cheese on a BLT. I said it’s really not that hard. Then there’s the time I went over to the cafeteria of a local university located within a block of where I used to work. A big banner over the grill said the days’ special was a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. So I said to the kid behind the counter, “I’ll have the BLT”. He said, “What’s a BLT”. I said, “Look up”. How do you get to be in college and not know what a BLT is?

I remember when the woman checked with neighbors about Goldie before she took her in. And fed her outside for awhile to give her a chance to go home as I used to do before there were chips. I love having my kids chipped now.

Georgia, could you have waited a week or two for the PSA? The local PBS station is in the midst of one of their pleas for money campaigns. It would be nice to spread these kinds of things out over time.

There’s a very good book called Three Retrievers’ Guide to Finding Your Lost Cat. It’s less than 50 pages long, but it’s full of great advice.

Drinking coffee from my BCN mug (with the boys at the news desk) and opening the news to find a Pucky Chart – What a great start to the day!

I always start my daily news reading with BCN. It’s a healthy inoculation before heading on to news of fresh disasters covered by WAPO and NYT.

Shelters should start chipping pets before they leave, just like when they neuter them first. (sometimes, though, they neuter FAR too young imo)

So, this reminded me of something I read on The Oatmeal several years ago. He was suggesting an orange collar on your kitty, both because it’s more visible, especially at night, and that it’s a very clear sign that the kitty belongs in a home. That way, it will hopefully be much more likely that the kitty will be returned home. Just something that may help!

These are all good tips. When my cat disappeared, I tried them all. I was pretty sure a coyote got him. When my other cat, the same age, died between one step and the next in the back yard, it occurred to me the first one may have died the same way, out in a field somewhere.

Cats do not live as long as we do. It can be hard to accept. I try to keep two cats, so the survivor can comfort me until I feel up to raising another kitten

Check the local animal shelter! Sometimes Animal Control (La Migra) steals indoor/outdoor pets who are allowed to roam free.
