Here is the thing about people who don’t vote – if you don’t, you have ZERO grounds to complain about the government. Doesn’t matter that your side didn’t win, it is the fact that you participated.

But if you don’t vote, you can’t complain as you were not part of the process, to begin with.

Once again Calvin and Hobs predicted the future. It is sad how many adult Calvins are in this word right now.

Given the number of people who think voting and an equal say in legislation processes should be restricted to only the ‘right kind’ of people, and who work to make it so through voter suppression and gerrymandering, it’s a lot of work to fight against a system that is increasingly rigged against a whole lot of people.

It doesn’t matter how you vote, politicians will always get in……

When I was a kid, I couldn’t understand why my dad read the whole paper, when the comics were the best part. Well, I’m proud to say I still read the comics, but I doom-read the Seattle Times for a year in 2020 at home for free from the local library.

Judging by the comments listed here in the first moments of a new day and week, voting, political involvement and reading of media materials doesn’t materially change the tribal nature of political views….

I tried that in the early 90’s but someone invented the “Achy Breaky Heart” and I had to start paying attention again, so I didn’t run into anything else unexpectedly.

His whole process is a good one. Not everybody is cut out to guide governments. He probably would even vote for an anti-smooches candidate.

We very definitely vote but, in one sense, I’m with Calvin. In fall of 2020 my wife and I became so depressed at the content and circus atmosphere of tv news channels, we just stopped watching anything but local weather reports. Within a couple of weeks we were feeling much better emotionally and physically.

We get most news plus lots of other features from national and international online sources. We find it much easier to read and think about without all the carnival ballyhoo that seems to have become the norm for the networks. We also avoid having to put up with the cult of news readers who have changed from reporting to advocating their personal philosophies.

But, again, that’s just our way. We don’t worry about how others handle their news.

Way too many people took that seriously

These days it seems it’s also more fun to whine about issues than to fix them.

I’m afraid way too many folks who read this in 1992 didn’t catch it was satire.

I certainly did not take Calvin’s advice. I’ve been voting every year and following complex issues since 1980. Cynics are never happy.

You could build an entire political party on that philosophy.

Calvin might feel depressed if he had an issue, and saw that no one could solve it because there was no leadership.

Easier, perhaps, more fun?

There are many such thinkers, Calvin. We expect you to take up the challenge and try to do something good for the society. You have proven your leadership qualities with your wit to all of us for so long.

It’s always someone else’s fault.

He certainly has Trumplicans and Trumpanzee’s pegged long before they were a thought or a figment of anyone’s imagination.

Just the other day, I read where a school bond issue in a nearby town, passed by one vote. I’m going to remember that if I ever start thinking that my one vote won’t make a difference.

Prescient? Fortunately there was no one really like that back in 1992. If there had been, by now we’d be in a mess for sure.

Then the pandemic hit, and the Dems took over.We are in worse shape now that the Dems are in control than at any other time.Give us Intelligent human beings a break and stop the bullsh—. If you want to sit in your fantasy world and believe that EVERYTHING IS SO FREAKING GOOD then have at it, But don’t try and tell us that these are the best of times, when anyone that has a brain can see that it is the worst of times.

The problem now is people don’t follow the issues, just sound bites and vote with their emotions.
