Gunther FINALLY came through! ;)

So, the buildup to this, the payoff, the “Day-New-Monty” , eh?…-Or perhaps this is a “Telly-New-Vella” ?….– Will the kiss be so right, but then “a native gets restless” in his nose, and the moment he asks her, she says: “No, it’snot a good look for you?”… or… will things be coming up “all Rosas”?… "Will Rosa give this guy an A?… Will he now be teaching courses in L’Amour (with a ‘trilled r’, Peppe LePew-like) at Moony U?… Okay, that bridge may not have been built, yet, but it looks like these two should have a good weekend coming up!…

Les’ fists are clenched, but the hopeless romantic in me is pretending he just helped Gunther out on purpose. After all, he knew perfectly well Rosa was not going to say yes. And he knew perfectly well he brought out Gunther’s more, um, exciting, personality traits around Rosa before.

In all the years that I’ve been reading this strip, it’s the first time I ever wished I was Gunther.

Well, it finally happened! Gunther has broken the locks and chains of his inhibitions. And besides that, he did it on what is regarded as the most romantic day of the year…

While it’s a great milestone for Gunther today, I want to see things get back to the life of Luann. Prom Night and Graduation Day are coming with (hopefully) some significant developments.

Way to go Gunth! They finally dropped!!

Prom Night is a time when teenagers tend to lose their inhibitions, so there is much to look forward to regarding Quill & Luann. However, it might be more fascinating to see Bernice do something to liven up her dreary existence, like “breaking out of established patterns!”

Gunther, I certainly HOPE that Rosa doesn’t View Your Sudden, UNEXPECTED, Action as an “Unwanted Advance” and reaches for the Pepper Spray…..,

Shouldn’t think so. Especially since she’s been noodzhing him lo! these many days/weeks/months to get his act together along just those very lines.

So in less than a week Leslie Knox was able to provoke Gunther into taking action with Rosa that she had been unable to inspire on her own in over one year of courtship. (Unless, of course, that the hearts-and-flowers final panel is what Gunther merely wants to do, We shall see.)

And in tomorrow’s strip, we will have Les reporting to Crystal that he has done her bidding.

In Hindsight, Greg was certainly planning this. Milquetoast man Gunther suddenly gets cajones on Valentine’s day. So he drug things out sufficiently to make sure his manhood would arrive on the proper day, while simultaneously building is audience to the point where EVERYONE wanted Gunther to do exactly that. Pretty smart of him, really.

Now let’s see if it’s too late… maybe Rosa has moved on… girls can’t wait forever, you know.

Also, the episode of “Love, American Style” that the Happy Days pilot was appearing on was titled “Love and the Television Set”, later changed to “Love and the Happy Days” for syndication, thus the series’ title when green-lit for production for it’s own show….. – Also part of the sequence of events that led to what is now known as “the Chuck Cunningham Syndrome” (Also referred to as “Cunningham’s Disease”), wherein an original character gets written out and the show gets re-written as though they never were there, in the first place…. (Almost similar to “Hill’s Disease” [named after the person who “discovered” it, Aaron Hill])….
