If a real teacher did something like this is they’ be fired, and probably sued. Community colleges generally just hire adjuncts on contract without benefits. There’s no tenure. All I can figure is that this is some sort of dig at community colleges – like they hire people out of the psych ward to teach. The stereotype out of the 1950s is really strange as well. How old can this guy be? Can you even buy an ascot or a smoking jacket now days? You’d have to go to a costume rental place.

This is really poor. Greg Evans needs to wrap this up by the end of the week and move onto something else. Maybe going back to Luann and Tiffany working at their job with the little kids is more nearly in his comfort zone than this experiment at depicting an annoying professor in junior college. He could even return to the Peru story and tell us what really happened in the parts that Gunther didn’t explain yet. This week, though, has been something that needs to be dropped and abandoned. (Evans is good at doing that with ideas that didn’t pan out, like the food truck.)

Sometimes odd things happen, and I don’t see where she deserves any kind of huge settlement over a little water that messed up her hair and makeup. This is the kind of thing she’ll make friends over and talk about for years, and he would deny it was intentional anyway.

Yeah, she’ll probably move on, but this is a form of bullying, embarassment to the student, and not teaching anything related to ‘creativity’. Now if he was trying to get a real reaction from an actor to something unexpected, he should have said something along those lines and involved the whole class, not just one student.

RB2…. Community Colleges have their place…. I agree with you on that. They CAN be used to transfer to a 4-year school…. but in a larger than I would like percentage of cases, students end up not getting courses to transfer as completely as they envision because they often are a) not paying attention to what they SPECIFICALLY need to take, or b) they get bad advising. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I do not think Greg is portraying community college as a horrible place at all. Zebo may be a bit over-the-top, but he is simply one professor. Greg is playing up the comedic potential of an over-the-top Zebo… and there ARE professors like him at most every college and university. They are the exception rather than the rule, but they do exist. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Greg has never portrayed that college (community or university) is a waste of time. Neither is a waste of time. But the biggest thing you need to remember is that for anyone at any school to get any sort of benefit out of it, the effort and work needs to be from within the person. Whether a trade school, community college, or university… it is the effort the person puts into attaining an education that is the important thing. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I am not pleased about the dousing that Luann is getting. But, trying to look ahead…. I am going to assume it is a relatively minor amount of water that was released, and that he may provide a towel for Luann, and that there may be a meaningful point he is really trying to make. I will also wait and see how this pans out.

Apparently, the direction this comic is headed now is to celebrate bullying. Gunther becomes a bully who wants to control his mother and keep her from having any life other than taking care of him, while barking at her that he’ll only enunciate a command once (or else?) And now we get a bullying so-called professor who pretends that dumping water on Luann has anything to do with creativity, so she gets to spend the day in wet clothes or return home and have to explain what happened to parents who probably won’t believe her.-I’m not a fan of bullies. Guess I’ll go read a comic that doesn’t celebrate them.

Not one professor. We started off the week with a guy doing a lecture on the digital age who was complaining about people who took notes for their classes digitally. Zebo is bad professor #2 (unless you count the guy for the one class we saw Luann take last fall, in which case Zebo would be #3).

Actually, we’ve seen the 1st prof. before when classes began in Sept. He seems OK. I don’t think he was “complaining.” I think he was just genuinely shocked to discover that someone still takes hand written notes.

What I’m curious about, though, is what department offers that class??? Is it “General Studies” or the “math” dept, or business, or what? “Introduction to the digital age?” I could see that as an offering for senior citizens that didn’t grow up in it… but any college kid worth their salt would be able to put that prof. to shame…

True, but later, Klink was transferred to Buchenwald by General Burkhalter after Klink parked his staff car in front of The Berghof and it blew up. Burkhalter felt that they could keep a closer watch on him there rather than him screwing up their operations on the Eastern Front.

I have the DVDs for HH. What was interesting about the show was that all of the regular German officers were, in fact, Jewish in real life. Werner Klemperer (Klink), John Banner (Schultz), Howard Caine (Maj. Hochstadter) and, of course, Leon Askin (Burkhalter). All of them accepted the roles with the intent on playing them as buffoons and idiots.

Of all the regular cast members, I believe only Robert Clary (LeBeau), an actual Holocaust survivor, is still alive.

I sincerely believe that MOST folks commenting here try to put forth genuine ideas generated in them through their reading of “Luann”. Some of these ideas may be pretty damn far-fetched at times, I will agree. But…. I still find them interesting, and even when I disagree with a commenter, I gain insight by having heard their alternative perspective. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++So, I do appreciate everyone’s ideas…. just try to be a bit more kind to each other.

I’d have to say, this might actually be a good lesson in creativity. I think most people are more creative than they’d give themselves credit for, but they’re afraid to fail, afraid to look foolish.OK, well here the prof has demonstrated by analogy that, well yah, she has failed, she now looks foolish … but really, she’s no worse off than before! So maybe there was nothing to be afraid of in the first place. So forget your fears, and try something new, outlandish, potentially embarrassing. Maybe you’ll get all wet – - but then again, maybe you’ll come up with something really great!Tomorrow, those little embarrassments will be forgotten, but the great stuff will be remembered.

Some may ask, “What is wrong with this guy?”A better question may be “What isn’t wrong with this guy?”

You don’t have to know what you are talking about…you just have to sound convincing.

When my biology prof in college used a squirtgun on some young female students (and male, too), he thought it very funny. When at its next meeting most of the class was similarly armed and returned fire, it was no longer funny. But it wasn’t repeated, either. That was a long time ago; today, I’d expect a lawsuit….

A fully clothed young woman drenched by a water balloon popped over her head…Isn’t there a name for this kind of fetish?

I think it’s time Luann should transfer out of that community college, or unless there’s a reason why her teacher treats her like dirt.

Think this is going goofy. The whole story line is really not like it used to be. Used to be anxious to read the comics now I for get a day or two to check in if anything is happening.

Not really, Howtheduck… I would be fairly adequate at such a class… I have a decent knowledge of most common software, use a wide array of electronic devices, use electronic databases, sporadically use social media, and am reasonably adept at many aspects of electronics. I am not an expert by any means, but have and do regularly utilize electronica in my teaching, research, and daily life… that said… there are times where non-electronic methods can be sufficient or even superior. I think note taking in class via traditional pencil and paper offers a fair number of advantages in a lecture of that sort.

“Didn’t Ponchos Pilot asked the Jewish rabble to decide to kill or spare? Joshuah had no choice in the matter despite what he said.”.Pontius..He decided to put it to a vote.He did not have to do that.He could have executed those bringing charges, claiming THEY were not loyal to Caesar since they rejected his judicial system. He COULD have delayed judgment until people had time to cool off and witnesses be gathered..It all depends on what you believe. All witnesses were biased. They claimed he was able to heal sick, feed multitudes, give sight to blind, give life to dead, change wash water into fine wine, walk on water, know thoughts, talk to God and be answered and that he raised himself from the dead. They were willing to face death rather than recant their claims..If you don’t trust any of them, you may as well believe it was all made up.That’s your right.

“Most agreed with what was being done in Germany. Very few resisted and disagreed.”.They claimed they didn’t know. The ones killed had limited power to resist.I doubt many DID k ow what it really meant until it was too late. They couldn’t believe it even though it was relatively common on a smaller scale.Catholics, Lutherans, Czars.Being Jewish wasn’t safe way back then.Sure is good everybody is hate-free nowadays and no religious or political leaders ever call for genocide anymore.
