Interesting that she’s going through Frank instead of waiting to talk to both Frank and Nancy. Frank is driven by money and doesn’t think things through so he’d naturally be easier to convince.
The magic word for Frank is “Rent”. He will say yes without a thought to his daughters feelings. He works hard to keep their relationship cold. Now he can destroy it without even giving it a thought.
These are babies here..not yet a year out of High School for G-d sake…let em live a bit..experience a bit..a little drama in their lives is good for the soul..
Maybe we’ll find out that TJ will be paying Pru’s rent. I think they would be a good couple – although I always wanted to see TJ and Ann Eiffel wind up together – they both deserve each other.
That’s GREAT, Pru!Frank gets FREE Labor and Pru gets Pretty Boy!Its a DEAL!Just Make SURE those Long, Romantic, “Midnight Clean-ups” at the Bistro with Just YOU and Q-Ball are PART of the DEAL,
Hah! Pru’s likely personal wealth comes into play, and the level of tension in the DeGroot household rises as Frank collapses into accepting Pru’s “offer-he-can’t-refuse.” Luann will love this development. So will Quill….
How much time has passed since Pru moved in exactly? Between finishing renovations to The Fuse, hiring staff, and writing and casting a play, it seems like this should have all taken months. Granted maybe Pru’s been waiting until her job was done to make a move on Quill what with stealing the boyfriend of your employers’/landlords’ daughter seeming like a really quick way to wind up penniless/homeless, but shouldn’t it at least be more obvious by now whether or not she’s a threat?
Well since Luann’s never gonna leave mommie and daddy, Quill and Pru oughta rent an apartment and be roomies.
Of course, and maybe it’s just me, but after I started college, I spent a total of three weeks with mommie and daddy before I decided, “this ain’t workin’” and I got my own place.
“Doesn’t she need an invitation to stay before she can stay?”^It wasn’t an imposition or presumption, Prudence was just offering, though she seems intent on trying to persuade him. And she was also trying to "sweeten the pot’, or at least sell Frank on the idea of the “win-win” her offer would potentially provide, and, she’s just trying to make some ‘in-roads". – And, of course, getting Frank on board doesn’t make anything a “done deal” , but it couldn’t hurt either, if maybe at least one of the household were “on board” with the idea…..
honestly, I’m going to lean away from the Pru-Quill angle… because seriously, she knows their daughter is dating Quill…
Not that people in the Real World haven’t been that stupid before… (otherwise there would be no jerry springer) however, Greg tends to be better about this.
Not to put too fine a point to it but there are not many middle aged women who would approve of a young woman, half their age moving into the home they share with their also middle aged husband. Mrs. Degroot would, in real life, not approve.
Well well, what a twist! Pru must be a heiress or something to be able to pay rent & work for free. Enjoy the rest of the extended weekend. I expect Monday we will go off on a different subject!
“I need to talk to my family before making a decision of this magnitude, because I’m not the only person who lives here.” But you know he’ll probably just accept………
Rather presumptuous of her to bring in her extended stay luggage before being invited, no? I almost prefer Tiffany to this character, at least Tiff is transparent whereas Pru seems to be adept at hiding her true agenda.
Why would Quill be going back to NYC? He’s still a student at Moony U. and lives at Gunther’s house most of the time. The only time he ever went to New York was for the internship for a couple of weeks last summer.
<sarcasm> Don't you just love the way replies now sometimes precede the comment being replied to? </sarcasm>E.g., in the first 15, Brdshtt’s image accompanying reply (global comment 9174177) precedes the Brdshtt comment (global comment 9174097), to which mr_sherman replied (global comment 9174139). Instead of appearing last, the comment with the largest global comment number, appears first.Personally, I like the old, chronological order, way, better.
Mighty presumptuous of Pru! Unloading her car to stay indefinitely without even asking permission!*But isn’t that really her M.O.— assuming entitlement?*Also, they have a New Years Eve show. Were they going to do it without Pru’s direction or performance?
I am mostly agreeing with Implausible and Caldonia. I think Karen does trap herself a little. We all realize this is not Moby Dick and, yes, not real. It seems slightly neurotic to be threatened by folks who have different opinions (just my opinion!).How boring if we all agree about the quality of the strip lately.
Today’s panels seem to explain yesterday’s Luann Gang Holiday card, with Pru right in the center between Frank and Nancy (on the horizontal) who seem to be arguing, and Quill and Luann (back and front, respectively). Frank and Nancy will want to discuss this arrangement, and where will Pru get $ to pay rent to the DeGroots…. so many unknowns and next week will likely move to a different arc.
It was bad enough that Pru traveled all the way from NYC to Pitt just so that she could put on her show for free. Now she wants to pay Frank for the privilege of making his theater better. As I said before (in connection with how Frank can fund a multi-million dollar business venture with $70K collateral), Frank clearly owns a magic unicorn. Better keep it well-fed in 2016, Frank.
You have to wonder why the Evans are concentrating so hard on The Fuse (SPOILER ALERT: Sunday’s no different). It has little to do with the main (i.e. young) characters growing up, and has involved one contrived unbelievable plot twist after another. Those who choose to, can keep believing that someday all of this strange arbitrary stuff will make some sense, but that’s getting harder as time goes on.
I didn’t mean that attending the show was free. I meant that Prudence charged Frank nothing for using her copyrighted script, and she produced the show without Frank paying her a salary. In other words, the show was free for Frank. Pure profit, no business expense. Unicorn!!!
At least once a week someone someone has to tell us that this is a cartoon and not real. Cartoons are considered semi-abstract art, your imagination fills in the picture and your mind relates to the story. Star Wars isn’t real, either, but try preaching that to the folks lined up to see it.
Pru is so pushy. She is also at least 25 years old, probably older. Why would she be interested in Quill anyhow? She wants to create this theater to her own design, but who asked her?
Someone wants to work for you at no salary, and they’ll pay you rent for the privilege of doing so? Yeah, stuff like that happens to all of us pretty much every day, right?
@kymberleigh. I took TJ’s major effort to derail AE as a symptom of attraction. The thing is, though, TJ has to win. That may be the problem that prevents TJ from ever having a relationship. We haven’t seen one yet…
