She’s still wearing Piro’s scarf, Gunther, you don’t have a chance. Though, I am happy that he is resilient enough to try again.She’s going to tell him about New York with Luann. Is he daring enough to tag along? If so, will Tiffany go? I would rather not. Luann and Bernice can do some fun growing up on the road. Gunther and Tiffany can do some emotional maturing right there.

What exactly are Tiffany’s feelings toward Gunther? Does she have feelings? Does she recognize them yet?

I wouldn’t celebrate just yet, folks. Do you really think Greg/Karen would be that obvious?

I’m thinking that one (or both) of the alternate interests in their lives (Tiff or Piro) will show up this week to cause controversy (or maybe they’ll catch Tiff & Piro together…. ;-PPP ) or something like that.

Women are good at sending mixed signals. and this is another case of that. Gunther wants a “safe” romance, and Bernice wants to talk about NYC, and possibly Piro. He also re-grew the beard, and we all know Tiffany loves it.

IMHO Piro didnt gift Bernice that scarf, he left it accidentally, and probably can’t afford a new one… so she should give it back. Won’t even occur to her to do that tho.

8Interesting. I wonder what Bernie is up to? My thoughts of what may potentially happen are:1. She is going to “scheme” with Gunther to figure out how she can attract Piro’s attentions.2. She is going to “scheme” with Gunther to get Tiffany “away” from “her” Piro.3. She is going to try to figure out a way for Piro to go to NYC with them.Of the three above, I suspect #1 is the most likely. I think #3 is quite unlikely. However, in all three, I suspect that a major effect may be that Gunther gets upset because he is not getting attention from Bernice. If I had my druthers, it would be very fun to explore Bernie and Piro as a dating couple. It would also be fun to explore Gunther and Tiffany as a dating couple. For me, personally, I think it would NOT be fun to see Bernie and Gunther be a couple, nor would it be fun to see Tiffany and Piro be a couple. This scenario, though still sounds almost like a set-up for comics remake of “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice,” the classic 1969 film. :)

I think Gunther expects some action! Could it be because of his attire? I hope he never goes back to the plaid.

$5 says they either bump into Tiff or Piro on the way to her room….

Gunth will chase Bernie because he thinks Tiff is “too good” for him, Tiff will chase Gunth, because she is maturing and starting to value his more “down to earth” traits… and Bernie will chase Piro, because she’s just now getting interested in the pursuit but she’s not experienced enough to realize when she’s being pursued. This Triangle will go on and on until one of them turns around and realizes (and appreciates) who’s chasing them or until one of them runs into someone else that either grabs their focus or returns their affections.

Cliche of young desire… at least it was in my college days.

At least Bernice is paying today. I don’t think she is interested in Gunther, she just wants something from him. Something non-romantic. He will be disappointed again.

I still stand firm on my comments yesterday. Here we have an 18 year old freshman, who tells others in the dorm what to do, making Gunther very happy, but as usual, he will end up crushed by the end of the week.

Quill seems to have forgotten how their last conversation went. Either he’s a total airhead or Team Evans hopes we won’t remember.

Bern didn’t say it was just the two of them. Perhaps Tiff has also been invited to Bern’s to help brew up something favorable for Bern. If so, would she invite Piro as well? Pros: chance for humor, Cons: might blow up the story arc.

Here is a question: by the time of this get together will Gunther have learned enough from witnessing what miscommunication and inattentiveness can cause from the example of Luann dumping Quill that he will push himself beyond his self-avowed lack of backbone and actually tell (the probably still clueless) Bernice of his interest?

Bernice? Whatever you do, DON’T mention Piro! (And Gunther? Don’t get too excited…)

I think that Bernice’s comment in the strip above is relevant for today’s strip. She did not seem aware at all that Gunther has any interest in her, and I expect that is still the case. Thus, I agree with other posters that it is more likely this is a fresh attempt by Bernice to show Gunther that Tiffany has interest in him. I would not be surprised if Bernice maneuvers to have Tiffany and Gunther in the same place so she can play matchmaker. I further suspect if will blow up in her face. I just hope it does so without Gunther saying something hurtful to Tiffany that he will later regret.

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been doing just that, and that pattern it seems likely to continue. The writing is getting really tedious, with story lines that take forever to get anywhere or, more often, that wind up going nowhere at all.

I don’t see any mention of another possible Bernice goal—she wants Gunther to make the clothes for her NYC trip. What are good friends for, but to be used.

Enjoying silence is not a sign of having issues. It’s a sign of being a quiet person—nothing wrong with that. As for the laptop, been there. A laptop matters more than a roof over one’s head. When you lose everything except your laptop, you’ve still got the means to find work, lodgings, and everything else you need.

I doubt Piro’s truly homeless too. Truly homeless people hang on to their scarves— especially in the winter.

At his age Gunther should pursue the fantasy: Tiffany. It is too soon to “just settle” for an old, comfortable friend. I don’t believe there is any fire or chemistry . Just take a walk on the wild side.

I haven’t had time to read all the comments but here’s my take. Bern is excited about going to NYC over spring break but is concerned about leaving Piro with Tiffany. One solution might be to invite Gunther and Tiffany to join them. Tiffany could easily afford the tickets. Having both of them along would keep Tiffany focused on Gunther and certainly anyone she might meet in New York, thus taking her mind off of Piro. Another possibility is that in going to New York Bernice could let Piro stay in her room while she’s away thus giving him a place to ‘crash’ for that time period and keeping him focused on her (as opposed to Tiffany).

I’m kinda thinking a scarf belonging to anyone whose bed consists of a very portable sleeping bag will be kind of on the grody side… so I cringe a little any time I see Bernice wearing Piro’s scarf tied up close around her neck. And I agree – the fact that she’s wearing Piro’s scarf does imply that Gunther’s about to be used.

I think everyone (including Gunther) is overthinking it – she’s going to ask him to cover for her as RA while she’s gone, because he’s dependable.

Because she couldn’t possibly have a black scarf of her own. They’re so rare and all.

It is possible that Bern is just going to ask Gunther if he knows what Tiffany is doing over spring break. That will help her (Bern) put some of the pieces together about what might be going on between Tiffany and Piro.

Okay folks here is the new line up…. Tif finds out Quill is available, frees up Piro. Piro gets picked up by Bernice, and Gunther picks up Tif when Quill leaves. Luann will then get whatever new male character shows up next.

Bernice says they will go brew something in her room. If it is in her room then Gunther will not be paying for the beverage. I guess Dez could be paying for it, but not Gunther.

hmmm….. what if Piro shows up while they are there? oops…. darn!!….maybe Bern shouldn’t take Gunther back to her place.

Hey, when the strip appeared w Bernice offering to listen to Piro appeared i thought that “When?” meant “When can i talk with you?”, but on re-reading it today inserted in the comments section, it hit me that it coukd ALSO mean, “When will you begin listening instead of talking?”

In the Peru adventure, who was the dumper and who was the dumpee, isn’t the point. Gunther should Follow the Yellow Brick Hormones and wake the sleeping dogs of passion. Not with cold blooded Bernice.

Actually, that was a comment that I made (and others), because a lot of people dealing with PTSD find that loud noises, or lots of noise, make that condition much worse.

Several of us have been speculating that Piro is a vet with PTSD. He reminds me of some of the homeless Vietnam vets I encountered years ago, as a volunteer on a crisis switchboard…
