1) She’s got two guys over in the Gulag that Care for her and will do ANYTHING for her. That’s something She NEVER had before.
2) She’s got new female friends other Crystal. Dez, Luann, maybe even Tara. And they all owe her a favor for help getting their money back. And Bernice and Tiffany are practically pals. Could you have said that 15 years ago?
3) Al and Irma were impressed with Tiffany after that 2017 dinner. And Throw in Old Smiley, a guy that Tiff’s got a history with.
4) She’s Close Friends with Simone of Soufflé Lingerie of Paris
Now SOMEWHERE in that Mix of New Friends, Acquaintances, and Potential Future Boyfriends, Business Partners, and Staunch Allies, SOMEBODY surely has a WORKABLE idea on how to deal with Ann.
When this “Last Supper,” is over with, it’s PAST time to Convene a “War Council,” involving ALL of the Above.
PS: Oh, and add Ox to #1 and Put Shannon, Brad and Toni in at #5. Time to put on War Paint!
Follow the money MD, right now Ann has her mitts all over it. She has the father, now to get the daughter, and to control the amount of money she has. Filet mignon? What a grifting gold digger.
Grifting golddigger! Ann has control. Follow the money. Hard to see how TIffany will come out on this, other than going out on her own. Maybe she will become a partner in using daddy with Ann, but I really think Ann wants the money, and control over the daughter. She loves that more than anything, other than money. Maybe MD is right and the other friends will come to her rescue, but I have yet to see how.
Something is off here. Ann is acting like a reasonable stepmom pacifying a hysterical stepdaughter. We know that is not what Ann is about, so she is up to something. “Not off, just down?” Hmmmm. We know Ann is all about money – is she going to order a new card and use it for herself?
Well, Tiff, she’s (at least) twice your age, (much) better looking, quite a bit smarter, and a complete sociopath. Time to shut up and go eat some more chocolates before she has you killed or something.
I’d love to see Tiffany get a job as a fashion consultant and make-up artist in a large department store. When she gets the weight off, she could model as well. She’s a natural at all these things, and could explore careers in many areas.
It would be interesting to see Tiffany team up with TJ when she explores a fashion career. I don’t know why I thought of this, but he could come up with many angles that Tiffany hasn’t thought of.
I dont like Tiffany, but if I dont see blood (Ann’s) in the next two days, I will unfollow this strip. I have enough unfairness in real life to find more in this fantasy world.
Tiff should not be taken down again. Depression, weight gain, rejected by useless Gunther, pursued by slimy Leslie, exposed Ann’s con game but ended up having daddy cut her allowance. Now, daddy’s latest thrill ride also wants to cut her funding. It has been a looooong losing streak. Tiffany badly needs an ally, capable of defeating Ann on her own terms…… down and dirty.
If all else fails, Tiff could convince the waiter that she has just returned from the pleasure palaces of the Far East and will teach him things beyond his most exotic dreams. All he has to do is poison Ann.
Ann seems to be indicating to Tiff that Ann is (or is going to be) Tiffany’s mommy. Very interesting to see where this goes. Tiffany is getting too old to be daddy’s little girl anymore – so if Tiff finds a way to vanquish Ann – what then?
Time for Tiff to grow a spine and walk away. Ann is forcing herself into Tiff by hitting her where it hurts. And Tiff has more right to Tom’s mullah than Ann ever will, and should. Hmmmm…….
so the cut is just to keep her there. if tiff wants to play hard ball she can call the police with the waitstaff as witnesses. but evens’ never pays hard ball even with a creep that deserves it.
the problem here is, Tiff is not thinking this through. Ann has a past, a very dark, larceny past. Tiff needs to get with Les and seek out the people that Ann has swindled and make their case. There will most likely be someone from Ann past that she doesn’t want to see again, someone who is able to get her goat.
Where is the Karma for Anne Awful? Karma in the cartoons, should not take as long as it does in real life. Sure TJ gets away with a lot, but he does have a few redeeming qualities.
What an accumulation of simpering characters. It is definitely time to exit this irritating mess. Good luck to all who comment here.(and no, the door didn’t hit me. :) )
Everyone is saying “Tiff, just walk away.” The time for Tiff to walk away was during the FIRST lunch, when her dad was there, preferably BEFORE he left. But no, she stayed. Some readers thought that Tom had told Ann that he wouldn’t marry her unless she made friends with Tiff. I think they were probably right.
What I don’t get is: Tiff KNOWS Ann is a crook and a liar, yet she believes everything Ann says. Ann: “Your dad has health problems.” Tiff (wide eyed): " Really? Oh my!"
So Tiff, in her infinite stupidity, caves in, poses for the selfie with Ann, and in effect, hands ole’ Annie the Keys to the Kingdom. Now Ann has the upper hand, and whenever she says “jump” Tiff has to jump. At least that’s what it looks like, otherwise why would Tiff agree to have lunch with her? She could always politely decline, using her schoolwork as an excuse. (Term papers to write, tests to study for, etc.) Even her dad could’t (or shouldn’t) fault her for wanting to do well in school.
But yes, Tiff should walk away and strike out on her own. Better late than never. But first, she should try to finagle a way to get her dad alone, away from Ann, and have a looooooooong talk with him. Even if that talk ends with her saying: “Bye Dad. Have a nice life.”
Here’s what I think is going to happen: Tiff is going to confide in Gunther and Les. Les will then let his uncle know what is going on, who will help Tiff out.
This is really getting lame and boring, but for some reason (lack of creativity?) you keep dragging it out, thinking your readers want to endlessly revisit this. Fix it for once and all and move on.
Luann is one of the very better comics. I appreciate how each character is a unique drawing, as opposed to cookie cutter type characters in Peanuts or BC. This does tend to raise expectations about each character being an individual we can make assumptions about, and have expectations of, in their way of dealing with people.
One frequent criticism is that Greg’s characters don’t stay true to themselves. Characters seem to act out of character at times. I was genuinely annoyed at a couple of arcs, because the characters seemed to be acting out of convenience to the story line, more than as expressions of personalty creating a story arc.
It takes a superior writer/artist to even engage me at that level. Luann has a great cast of supporting characters. This strip, to me, is the easiest to become annoyed at , and the easiest to be enjoyed.
Tiffany needs to leave and talk to Gunther and Les. Gunther to help her get her own life and Les for the cold business of revenge. If she can only do one, let it be Gunther. A good life is the best revenge.
Let’s see… Ann convinced Dad that Tiffany has to know the price of life and to pay for her own way to learn how to be a good responsible adult. Or in short, more money for Ann.
If Tom wanted to take away Tiff off of his credit card he could simply cancel the card and open another with a new number and not give Tiffany access. Looks like he hasn’t done that. Tiff should also take the pieces in order to have the account number so she can explore replacing the card. Moreover, why has she bothered to come to this lunch date with Ann anyway? Tiffany keeps walking into Ann’s traps.
I agree with cholomanaba. This has been one of my favorite strips, but this storyline seems to condone criminality. So many people could intervene to help Tiffany, but they don’t. I put most of the blame on Ann E’s brother who should have gone to law enforcement after the lingerie incident. Tiffany can still walk out, immediately call her dad and find out if this was his idea or Ann’s. Leave the boxed food; Ann is ordering a meal, the waiter will either put it on her bill or toss it if she doesn’t want it. And then Tiff will need to get a job, something that pays better than her gig at the daycare with Luann. It would be tough, but independence from her dad will give her real power that Ann can’t take away. And Ann is worried about her influence on her dad or she wouldn’t be pulling this baloney.
Tiffany should have seen this coming. She has no independence. And now financially she is in a position that Gunther was emotionally when mom suddenly decided to stop mothering him. Left both of them weak.
A typical filet mignon in a restaurant would be just about the right size to stuff in Annie Awful’s big yap just before you do some cutting of your own, Tiffster.
