Ummmm….hmmmm….so far this arc has not been the “hilarity ensues” which are favorite words of many in here. Not even today’s strip. Gunther happens to stand directly behind the mannequin and aligned to look like he assumes the shape of the mannequin wearing lingerie? Not very creative. My idea of funny is ….not this. I guess I feel like it is time for Ann Eiffel to come out of Mansion de Farrell and do an “evilness ensues.”

These days it’s okay to have your significant other cross-dress you for fun or ????

Bets is having a lot of fun and Gunther no longer looks terribly embarrassed as before. Everything It’s going better than I thought. I’m happy for them.

This gag falls flat with Gunther and Bets. Greg has worn out the bumbling mama’s boy, androgynous schtick with Gunther. It would have been humorous if it was say, Toni and Brad, or Crystal and Knute. Bets comes off as “girlfriend.” But Greg just hasn’t established Gunther as a “boy” friend. Getting a shave and a near snog with Luann just ain’t enough!

I wish Greg would let his readers know if Gunther has picked out his “personal pronouns” yet! 8^(

Ok, I like Bets. I didn’t at first, thought she was a bit clingy and domineering. However, I like her sense of humour, they have a lot in common and she is really bringing “Gun” out of his shell. And Gun is a cool nickname! Not as nerdy as Gunther. Go Bets! :)

G likes this; that is Bets paying total attention to him and finding him funny and cute and cleaver. Attention is the most important part of a relationship.

I like it, the illusion of a strip in the strip. This is the most humor we’ve seen in a long time. Hooray for Bets for making things fun again.

Hmm. Generally…. a silly, throw-away comic today.

By chance… has anyone seen Schrodinger’s Dog the last couple of days? I am not sure if I have just missed his posts… or if he is actually absent?

Actually it’s brilliant. When you’re selling on Ebay you want to make your listing STAND OUT. Looking at a list of fancy underwear … nice, but boring. But, “…hey, is that a GUY wearing it?…”. They’ll have to look at the very least.

Now, Bets! Don’t resort to coercion with that! Just keep steering toward mutual benefits territory! ;)

I can’t imagine why Gunther is standing in back of the manikin. There’s no logical reason. It wouldn’t help sell the product on eBay…

The “joke” today is a pretty common one…. showing a guy in the less-than-typically-desired state of wearing female undergarments. It has been the basis of many, many a different sit-com situations over at least the last 50 years.

A bit different for today is that it is a result of Gun standing in front of a seamstress mannequin…. but we have to admit…. it is a rather “slimming” look for Gun…. and he already was fairly scrawny. :) This leaves the joke intact, but is not actually a result of anything Gunther did in regards to the underwear…. which is a good thing as far as Gunther’s character goes.

That his girl, Bets, is taking the opportunity to take a snapshot of Gun with this mannequin strategically positioned is IMO a true indication that Bets has joking, fun, casual, and caring relationship with Gunther. I like how this is showing the two of them enjoying and having fun in doing even rather mundane things.

For me, even though some saw the stance of Gun in front of the mannequin as being purposefully denigrating to Gunther’s character… I really do not view it this way. Yesterday’s actions by Gunther to be squeamish to an extreme about handling lingerie ( on a mannequin ) did a lot more to denigrate Gunther’s character (IMO) than today’s panels.

I am very much looking forward to this storyline ending.

I hope this couple can remember the humor in this and laugh about it down the road, as in a long-term relationship. “Honey, do you remember when…”

It started out good but the past two days have been all downhill.

UH, Oh. Gun is about to go Viral.

All these comments concerned about Gunther. He appears to be posing for Bets. He’s standing, arms to his side, aligned with the mannequin. He isn’t trying to set up for the next photo and he gave Bets enough time to get her phone out to take a pic without trying to move. He wouldn’t be posing with a smile as he doesn’t want to give the impression that he would enjoy dressing in women’s undies.

And somewhere in Gunther’s brain, something goes “Hmm…”

Gunther could get lots of calls from the ladies looking at the eBay ads that they are posting.

Gunther oscillates between showing confidence and just losing it all. After Tiffany left, he got right to the point verifying that Bets was his girlfriend (there was no hemming and hawing, he was not subtle at all); once confirmed he commented that she looked really nice and that they were alone, implying they could get intimate. I think Gunther surprised himself and then became anxious. Now, he seems a little more relaxed and confident again. I think dressing and undressing the mannequin (at Bet’s direction) gave him some familiarity with what could lie ahead w/ a live person.

That’s just bizarre. The concept is cute enough, but the execution? Ick.

Poor, feckless Gunny. Much put upon: yup, seen in “his” bra and panties….
