Okay, I told you yesterday I had proof that Jasper and I would meet again.
Cat whiskers are good luck, and I have a collection of them. You can tell Jasper’s because they are striped black and white.
Yesterday after I returned him to the clinic for them to send him to Gateway for cremation and memorial gifts (they take his paw prints), I was cleaning up at home and was about to wash the dish he last drank from hours before he died, when I noticed something in it. I turned it in the light and there it was. I couldn’t believe it.
From the time I brought a tiny dirty filthy biting (OW!) kitten into the house, I had an intuition — “You won’t have him for long” — and just determined that I would care for him and keep him healthy, since who knows how long “long” is?. Now I had another intuition. It’s like Freddie and Tillie — there is something to it.
“That’s his calling card. You are not to forget him. You will see him again.”
Once more I want to thank everyone in the Orb for not just the financial donations but every purr and headbutt and kind lovely beautiful thought for Jasper and me.
Keep them coming. I am driving out past Palm Beach in the morning to look at a place for rent that is actually within my means (barely). I am so hoping this place and its owner are for real.
The Man and Puck together might be able to go into the basement safely. We know that a girl, by herself, and wearing just a tank top and knickers, would be doomed.
OT… Repeat Public Service Announcement for the early group….posted this yesterday
Was just leafing thru the AARP Bulletin, familiar to all us seniors. In an article on saving money there is a reference to locating assistance with pet expenses. Go to HumaneSociety.org. Tap the magnifying glass icon for Search. Type in ‘affording your pet’ and you will find links to many services. The first result is “Are you having trouble affording your pet?” It takes you to a list of National Organizations and a little further down is a search by state grid.
So I had to come here right away to pass the word that there is more possible help out there than I had known. This is in the US, friends in other countries should check out their area’s version of the Humane Society for a possible similar list.
Now the suspense mounts. Will throwing the main breaker restore the power or is the outage wider than just the BPH? That’s an old house tho….is it still a fuse box? Are there extra fuses on hand? Was the Man a Boy Scout so he is prepared? And most important, when will they realize there is a soaking wet Cat outside in need of rescue?
I like the way Pucky is putting his paw into the light. I remember doing that when I was little, trying to grab the light. Its the little touches that endear this strip.
i love how much softer Elvis’ voice is in the last panel compared to the 2nd panel, and his 1 tiny spot of eyebrow over his left eye makes him look even more scared, oops that should be concerned, not scared. i repeat, not scared. those are irresponsible rumors
I love how Puck, the sweeter and more gentle of the brothers, is also the bravest … um, after Elvis, of course! Elvis is very, VERY brave! And not that Elvis and Puck aren’t super sweet either!! :-O … oh, dear …
Something I learned quite some time ago: Everyone, at all times has the potential for heroic and cowardly behavior—and the occurrence of either is not entirely a matter of conscious will. There is always something that can overwhelm the bravest, or make the most cowardly utterly unconcerned for their own safety.
Courage is not an absence of fear. Absence of fear is folly. Courage is an adaptation to fear. One can live in fear, or one can simply live. That is the most fundamental choice anyone has.
Hmmmmmmmmm. I wonder. For Quite Some Time, Georgia has been saying that she wants to do a “flashback” story about how Lupin came to join the household and become the anchor of the news team. I wonder if the (potential) arrival of Goldie will be a springboard for that flashback? That would be…So Cool!
By the way, I love how the Baby is happily asleep curled up against her Elvis. Elvis will never let anything hurt her, and she knows it!
