I can see where this ‘toon is headed, and I don’t want to go there myself. It’s been fun talking with some of you. Maybe I’ll check back in a few months, in case the artists decide not to be supportive of the ‘hate Luann club’… Nice talking to you, SallyMargaret and Luann12…

Okay! Today We get our first glimmer of Good news for this week. Luann has seen her “best friend” Bernice with her “guy pal” Jack, and Lu didn’t get all “jealous.” GOOD for Lu!

The bad news is, Luann made herself look like a twit in front of her friends with this silly “fetch” business. H3LL, even Jack thinks so. Maybe, just MAYBE, the week will end with Luann merely looking a little silly for our amusement, nothing more.

And don’t you worry, about what Jack said, Luann. At least You know how to change a tire! ;)

So, Bernice put the book away, apparently she’s no longer bored. Jack is sitting on the bench with Bernice and his hand is not in his lap. Puddles is not between Bernice and Jack. And Luann is clueless, barely giving Jack the time of day.

It seems like this will be a bad week for Luann and a great week for Puddles.

Puddles is approximately 35 years old. Of course he doesn’t want to fetch. And yes, Jock, Puddles is a dog. You’re getting smarter by the day.

Is this where the future doctor of psychiatry and the future doctor veterinary science become an item?

I did not see another toss of the ball by Luann coming.

So – looks like the writers decided to give us a little comic relief from the high drama of the Ann weeks. Good call!

Yeah jack is making a good observation: luann wants to play fetch with puddles and puddles wants no part of it. But Luann is too stubborn to realize that.

I like Luann’s form in panel 2, where she turns her back to Jack and arches her back just a little as she throws. She is thinking about the game of “catch” and not about the game of “fetch.” If only Puddles would cooperate.

Bernice doesn’t have her book open. Jack is evidently more interesting than Luann.

I see we have another “haw haw, Luann is so dumb” arc. I really wish Greg wasn’t always trying to make his protagonist the butt of the joke.

Not that Jack doesn’t appreciate Luann, but facts is facts.

Berjack is definitely gonna happen. Which is fine because Luann sees Jack as a friend.

Someone once said that doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results was the hallmark of insanity. So either Luann is insane or this is Groundhog’s Day and time just keeps on repeating. Here it is, the middle of the week; every here knows that Jack and Bernice are going to start dating but the writer appears to be planning to stretch out the reveal for another two or three – weeks? Months?

I think irony is the soul of this arc. So many of us, me very included, have opined, predicted, ridiculed, speculated, encouraged, discouraged, decried the whole idea of a Jack Luann romantic liaison, but she just doesn’t see the obvious, and he seems oblivious, maybe. Now along comes Bernice and Jack as interested parties, and I for one think they are drawn as knowingly interested parties. He is a flirt, but Bernice is not his “type” Bernice would not be interested in a hunk, she is so repressed, and plain. Luann of course is cute, “fetching” with a dog, but guess where the innuendo and hints seem to be going, and Luann seems to be “clueless” to it. the hormones here seem to be flowing between the two people sitting on the bench. And I think the innuendo is they know it.

I wonder what’s up with Puddles. During an earlier dog park outing (2018/07/24), he was totally into playing “fetch,” while Max was quite lethargic (at least until the unseen 4th panel on 2018/07/28). Maybe the Pudster needs to catch up on his sleep after getting up early for breakfast with Bernice.

Meanwhile, where is Max, or whoever Jack brought with him? And when Luann fetches the ball this time, will that be all she fetches, or will she also fetch, say, Ryder?

Ah! Bernice has a snarking buddy! Both understand Luann and are amused with their friend. They know Luann can be obtuse at times. They know if Puddles could, he would snark too. wonder what Puddles would say?

Luann barely acknowledged Jack. Maybe it is time for Bernice to try her hand at love. Let Bernice have her time. Maybe a new character will be introduced for Luann since all the regular suspects seem to be paired up.

Bernice is smart and Jack is aiming to be a veterinarian. Can’t be that bad.

Unfortunately, that grimace doesn’t make Luann look…fetching.

It’s so sad when your dog doesn’t want to play … so frustrating. I’m starting to like the way Bernice looks at Jack. If anything between the two will start, Luann would be so surprised, and so would be Nill. But I still prefer the idea of ​​Jack and Luann as a couple.

Luann is always complaining about the lack of a guy in her life. There’s Jack, handsome, nice, pleasant and available. So she blows him off. Maybe Bernice will get the clue.

Give Puddles a break. He’s got to be a least 40 yeas old by now.

The posture of these two points to an interrupted conversation. Perhaps a pleasant one. For Bernice to put down a book in favor of social intercourse seems not insignificant. Luann’s interruption is at once, classic clueless behavior behavior and a signal that Jack solidly in friend zone.

When Tiffany pointed out Jack’s attractiveness at Kidz 1st, she immediately triggered jealousy and a competitive spirit in Luann. Jack with Luann and Bernice already has a dynamic from Pitt C.C. dating days. We have a number of strips for this to play out but I doubt if jealousy will factor into future strips with these three.

All this “Bernice living with Luann” ink may wind up as only a summer doldrums arc awaiting the dynamics reserved for fall and winter strips.

I’ve been wanting to see Jack and Luann to become an Item since he had posed nude for the class. Hope if it does, it’s not the end of Luann.

Luann, Jack, Tara, et ales are attending a 2-year community college; Pitts C.C. by name. If memory serves, they have already completed two school-years of courses. How will the Evens’s handle this in the fall when return-to-school strips are typical!?!?

Throw it again and tell Jack to fetch.

Again, Jack’s pants are too tight! And where is the social distancing, and the masks!! This is setting a bad example not only in public responsibility in regards to the masks, but also the titillating nature of the romantic tension building between beefcake and Dr Dork. This has to stop! Get back to Gunther and his exploits!

Wow. G&K really don’t like their main character, do they? It’s not enough they keep Luann at the maturity level of a 13 year old, now they have to make her a brainless twit? Even Shannon would be smart enough to stop throwing the ball if Puddles didn’t fetch. But noooooo……they’ve got to really dumb Luann down in order to make Bernice appear even smarter than she really is.

Tomorrow: Jack explains dog psychology to Bern. Bern find a it fascinating and compares it to human psychology. Luann is used as example.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Puddles DID want to play with Bernice and/or Jack.

Why would Luann be jealous of two friends sitting on a park bench together? Was Jack supposed to sit across the park in the men’s section? Does Bernice need a chaperone when out in public next to a man, so the village leaders don’t slap an “A” on her chest? Is Jack reaching over to grab Bernice’s, uh, cat?

Luann looks adorable and is acting adorable. Bernice has noticed that Jack has noticed. It’s all sweet and fun.

Just wondering why Luann got all dressed up – in heels, no less – to play fetch with Puddles.
