Looks like Natasha is the “feme fata’le” of the mystery! Lounging in her teacup bath and her indolent manner…..but is she big enough to topple Short n’ Stout?!
Natasha is a hardened gangster, with hardened gangster dialogue. She isn’t going to say “It’s a fair cop, guv. You got me bang to rights. It was me wot dun it.” (Especially since she isn’t English.) But she might give a hint or two about where to find the one-armed man.
I’m not sure we can discount the July bug. The broken vase was reported on 3 August, but could it have been broken earlier? Perhaps on 31 July, when they were all trying to sleep.
I got a text from my daughter last night with great news – all three of the semi-feral kittens she rescued last week have gone to forever homes! (Mamma got fixed & chipped and also found her forever home via a local no-kill shelter.)
As she put it: “…I’m excited and a little sad. Gonna miss the little monsters.”
OT: the Woman is going to live. She’ll be miserable for a few weeks, but she’ll live. The doctor determined her to have nothing more serious than a severe sprain. I get to do range-of-motion exercises starting in a week and a half or so to keep the tendons from tightening up too much.
Since Natasha used to be a lab rat, I can understand, based on these benefits, why she’d be lounging in a tea bath – Research supports the benefits of Tea because of its many antioxidant and antimicrobial qualities. Teas can be used for various therapeutic effects such as anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, immune-enhancing, and more. Since the skin is the largest organ in the body, a “tea bath” allows the body to absorb the tea and its beneficial nutrients much quicker than you could obtain by drinking tea.
Hey, the July Bug broke what month it’s supposed to pop up in before (hence “July” Bug instead of the usual “June” Bug), so it could always do it again.
But I agree, the July Bug seems unlikely, at least with the evidence currently available.
Ingersoll Day —celebrating the life and works of Robert G. Ingersoll, who is one of the most noted freethinkers in US history. He was a strong supporter of abolition and women’s rights.
Play in the Sand Day —this is one way to find that you have true grit … I need not tell you where.
I used to love building elaborate sand castles. With the right sand and the right moisture content, some truly amazing structures can be created. Then the tide comes in, and they are … well, it just goes to show that Robin is correct.
Presidential Joke Day … on second thought, let’s not go there.
National Raspberry Bombe Day —a frozen dessert molded into a hemisphere, (hence “bombe,” from the French) or sometimes other shapes. So raspberry ice cream, covered in raspberries and raspberry liquor. What a great way to get bombed.
“Bombe” is also the code word for the machine the cryptographers of Blechley Park used to decode messages encrypted by the German Enigma Machine. What a great way to give your enemies a raspberry.
National Raspberry Tart Day —I never knew they came in flavors …
On the subject of mice: I have four cats. There is evidence that a mouse has been in the storage drawer of my stove. What’s wrong with this picture?? I wouldn’t expect Tucker to catch a mouse since he is visually impaired. Or Ozzy and Inky, since they have been indoors all their lives and are such cowards they would probably be terrified of a mouse. But Cindy spent a lot of time outdoors before she came to me and although she’s deaf, there’s nothing wrong with her nose. I think mice are cute and I love them, but not when they leave poo in my house. And I hate to kill anything so looks like I’ll be getting a humane trap and doing a catch and release.
Welcome back to me. I’ve finally caught up with the innerwebs after 5+ days without phone and cable. (almost 7 days without power, but we have a generator, for which I am very grateful. I can live with no lights, but without power we have no water, and it’s possible I may have some OCD handwashing issues.)
I love how Georgia drew Goldie’s hat with her torn ear sticking out so we would know it was her. Like there would be any question as she is the only detective in the house!!! :-)
Sweetheart has a tumor in her lower bowel. We don’t know how bad, but it’s bad enough to be bleeding periodically.
My vet says that she can’t be absolutely sure, but she’s sure it’s malignant, just from experience.
Sweetheart is on a new high fiber food (that she loves!) and a couple of meds. One for pain and inflammation, one for the loose stool and is helpful with any infection she might get.
I was reminded that she is about 16 ( !!! already ??? ) and anything beyond this point is hospice. Comfort and quality of life.

Oh dear! Tea is often used to dye white cloth to brown. If Natasha stays in the tea too long, she’s going to come out looking like Violet.

Prophet Wicket: Welcome, Baba-Stet. To what do we owe this honor?
Baba-Stet: I have news, Friend Wicket. Talgu is fine. He just took time off to be with his family.
Prophet Wicket: That is welcome news indeed. And how have you been, my fine Baba?
Baba-Stet: Very well. I was just saying the other day it was time to pay the Owl Temple a visit.
Puckmosis: Oh, do you two know each other?
Prophet Wicket: We had our Owl and the Pussycat moment back in the day.
Baba-Stet: But I wanted kittens and he wanted to join the Temple Owls.
Puckmosis: Have you heard anything about the archives mess?
Baba-Stet: Well, we still don’t know Ta-Natash’s whereabouts.
