I scared a Workman today!!! There is a bunch of work being done on my place. He had to go through to get to the backyard. On top of a stack of boxes… I have a toy cat! He thought it real!!! I had to explain that the toy cat comforts one of my old cats. She likes to snuggle up to it as if it was another cat in the Pride. If my cat can pretend… so can Beatrix!!
In my house, everything’s a cat toy – including me. I am also a path to traverse from place to place, and a bed no matter where I am. When they are really playing hard, I am safety base. Up in my lap when one of them is losing. I am also the toy tosser for games of fetch and my ankles almost get rubbed raw when I am opening the can of cat food and divvying it up into two saucers. When I go out and come back I must be minutely inspected and re-marked with serious cheek rubbing of my hands and ankles. Especially when I visit my brother who has a few house dogs and two house cats.
I made the mistake of allowing a macaw to sit on my wrist at my neighbor’s house (they have two of them – rescues). My wrist was licked clean to the point of irritation by rough cat tongues.
OT: This story arc has become a bit bitter- sweet for me, still kinda tearing up. See my post from late yesterday. Could still find him but not hopeful.
my ally is finally getting her turn at the vet on thursday, but here, you wait outside as they take your baby in, do what they need and bring her back out. I will have no chance to see if hospital gown and popsicle sticks are implemented.
My beloved Andy, z’’l*, used to go right into the jar of dog treats on the examining table and help himself.
Lacey, also of blessed memory, used to make herself at home in the client’s chair, which I don’t blame her for ’cuz it was certainly warmer that the examining table. So the vet sat where I would sit and I would stand where the vet would stand.
None of my gatos exhibited any interest in cotton balls.
*I don’t know if we’re allowed to say z’’l for a nonhuman, but I just did. So there.
As with my grand- nephew and niece, one unintentional act of destruction followed by another. She found my partial denture last time. I found it against the wall, under the bed. :-o
OT: My dog Ginny has been having a bit of a problem since this morning. Occasionally, she would just wheeze. We think it’s because she has something stuck in her throat, but Ginny hasn’t cleared it yet. My mom is taking her to the vet, I hope it’s not bad.
VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Day —Any day is a good day to recognize our military veterans.
Confucius Day —There is probably more misinformation about Master Kong and his teachings than there is historical, or even semihistorical information. “Confucianism” is generally poorly understood in non-Asian countries, and not always well understood in them. Translations of his, and his purported, works into English vary in quality and accuracy. The most popular in the West (by Lionel Giles), at the moment, is seriously flawed. I recommend the one by Chichung Huang. His introduction alone is worth the price of the book. Confucian philosophy has much to offer any civilized person, and is worth reading and thinking about.
National Coffee Day —The Divine Bean, without which we would not truly live. Imagine what Confucius could have accomplished had he known coffee. We have coffee. We have chocolate. Life is good!
National Mocha Day —Coffee plus chocolate! Nothing more need be said, except perhaps …
National Biscotti Day —To go with the coffee and mocha, of course.
National Goose Day —Honk if you love goose … or if you perhaps are one … When all is said and done, pigeons and sea gulls don’t have a patch on geese when it comes to “obnoxious” behavior. Some are grateful pigs don’t fly—but geese do, and that’s close enough. Celebrate the day by inviting a goose to dinner … with dumplings …
Totally unreasonable to ask a kitten not to play! My wife rescued a 4 week old kitten that was found in the middle of a busy street in our neighborhood. With the help of her sister, the kitten has been getting kitten formula, had a trip to the vet and is being kept warm and safe. Looks like a Siamese mix. Very cute little guy. Turned me into a cat toy immediately.
Smokey used to pee everywhere when she went to the vet. The vet had to clean out her cage before we could put her back in it. Although, I’m wondering if her peeing at the vet’s office wasn’t a bit of revenge for her being fixed.
It was Colonel Popsicle! … In the Exam Room! … With a Cotton Ball ! -—- Don’t ask how a cotton ball can be used as a weapon (Not exactly a blunt instrument, ya’ know!) :)
I was told that there was coyotes in the area here where we live in FL about the time that Oliver disappeared. We don’t know if that’s what happened or not. Prefer to think that he got adopted, but if it’s the other scenero, hope he got indigestion!

She’s a kitten! She was born to play with everything. :D Asking her to stop playing with everything is like asking a duck not to swim in water.

Examine me, I’ve been waiting an eter-ni-ty
Can’t you see my mischief is just starting?
Bookstore’s calling, so quit your stalling
Examine me
Though that cold table seems so unforgiving
Yo, I’m Bea, I hope that you are willing
To pick the pace up, and do my checkup
Examine me
I’ll let you lift me off the ground
Check my eyes, and my l’il parts all around
And next Elvis will tell you where he wants you to go
Examine me
