I seem to recall that The Woman told The Girl \last year to misbehave “just a little bit” so that Santa wouldn’t bring her so many toys.♥ https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/2019/12/29
This is a real, actual quote said at dinner during the December when the Girl was two and a half, lol!! I hesitated to put it in, because I think certainly some newspaper readers who don’t see comments here will think, “wait, is the Girl talking now?” In real life, the Girl spoke very early (and the Boy spoke later, he was almost three. At one point, 18 month old her was translating for him—now both are little sweet chatterboxes) It’s not something I want to make a habit of in the comic, as it’s easier to keep her a general two year old than her specifically… But I had to for this one, lol, it was just too good. We still say it every year and I want to embroider it someday. In the end I hoped that perhaps some readers will think the cats can understand her better than the people, haha, or just have known chatty toddlers. Sometimes a lot of overthinking goes into writing, can you tell? Lol!
Love panel 3: “Agent of Chaos” and dispensing the Colgate gel all in one panel. LOL.
Young kids can do the darndest things at times. When my daughter was a bit older than The Girl and in a pre-school class, a policeman came to the class and explained to the children how to dial 911 if there is an accident in the house, they see a fire, a stranger trying to get in the house, etc…… Anyhow, a couple of days later, when I picked her up, us parents were given a note, explaining that one of the more ambitious girls in the class decided to test this “911” and call. We were told that while the authorities were not too upset ( I think they were simply happy there was no emergency), they did want us to explain to our youngsters that 911 was not a toy and that while no one was fined because of this first instance, misuse of the emergency line can result in a hefty fine and even a trip downtown if you are a repeat offender. That was 17 years ago and the young lady who did it became valedictorian of my daughter’s high school class and from what I understand is planning to go to law school in 2022 after she graduates from Gainesville (figures a Gator would do that, a good girl like my FSU daughter would never do anything like that ;) ).
‘Agent of Chaos’!!! I love it! They’re all agents of chaos! Even poor Puck who I love, but he’s even capable of a 2am run through the house! I’ve always been a little ambivalent towards Elvis, but he can be a pretty nice cat when he wants to be. Lupin, though. King Chaos. He thrives on it.
Well, maybe sweet Pucky’d feel better if he made a chart comparing his “naughty” incidents last year with this year. Then project the number of expected gifts this year.
Semi-off Topic. At my niece’s house, it appears that the elf on a shelf organized a lively game of ‘Go Fish’ with the stuffed animals of the household. I have no idea if this link will work, but here it is: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10207884966718481&set=pcb.10207884968118516
I am a grumpy old fart who doesn’t like kids, but Georgia could probably spin off a strip of just her kids and I’d still follow it every day! (Fan of Swan Eaters too, OF COURSE.)
Daughter Two is a fan of this strip. She too was born an agent of chaos, still a whirlwind at 35. We have a photograph of Two in the exact Same position and age as drawn here, except she was upending a full box of cornstarch and playing patty cake. In fact I kept a camera out and photographed her often ; this kept my hands full until I could laugh at each situation.
Wildlife Conservation Day: Obviously, The Girl is doing her part …
National Cookie Day: Even bad computers get cookies, but sometimes toss them. Don’t toss your cookies on the computer, or the magic smoke will come out and it won’t be able to do anything, let alone toss its cookies.
International Cheetah Day: Let’s hope the day is slower than that. Time is precious. We don’t want to be cheetahed out of any of it. The situation could get dicey …
National Dice Day: If you make your saving throw, you won’t be cheetahed out of time or cookies. Oh Craps, it’s double boxcars. Gotta run, if I can find my socks.
National Sock Day: If someone tries to cheetah you, sock them. If they got away with it, make it a well worn, unwashed sock. And stay on your toes, so you don’t get socked again.
I grew up long before all this “Elf on a Shelf” and Santa as Alexa kid stressers, but my younger siblings and I never worried about Santa thinking we were bad. Our eldest brother was heck on Earth so we looked like little saints in comparison.
Hey, she needs a shirt or a hat or a pin or something that says “NAUGHTY AND GETTING WORSE” as in naughty and nice. I’ve got my mom’s pin with that on it around here someplace, I should dig it out and wear it.
I seem to recall hearing that Santa brings toys to good little girls, but he stays at the homes of ‘naughty’ (older) girls. I have always found the rewards of a bit of naughty to outweigh the value of a few toys.

The Girl needs to be introduced to self-confessed bad girl role model Joni Mitchell as soon as possible:
♫”She don’t like my kick pleat skirt
She don’t like my eyelids painted green
She don’t like me staying up late
In my high-heeled shoes
Living for that rock’n’roll dancing scene”♫ (“Let The Wind Carry Me”)

She’d rather be a bad girl than a good
Yes she would, if she could, she surely would
She’d rather be so naughty, nay, misunderstood
Yes she would, if she only could, she surely would
Anyway, come Christmas day
No gifts, will she still feel that way
That child needs no toys to play around
She gives the BPH its happiest sounds
Its gladdest sounds
She’d rather be impish than sweet
Yes she would, if she could, she surely would
She’d rather squish toothpaste beneath her feet
Yes she would, if she only could, she surely would

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Beatrixia: Elvis-Anum, do you have the list of gifts for the Royal Staff for the Feast of Giving?
Elvis-Anum: I’ve got it right here. Just checking it twice.
Beatrixia: I never know what to get the Royal Procurers. Whenever they want something, they just go and take it.
Elvis-Anum: Well, you can’t go wrong with cheese. Maybe a fine wine to go with it.
Beatrixia: I’ll see if Thomios has any ideas, too.
At the Royal Kitchen
Beatrixia: Hello, Thomios. Watcha doin’?
Thomios: I was just experimenting with a bread recipe, but for some reason it didn’t rise. It just sort of went crack.
Beatrixia: It tastes great. I think these crackers will be great with cheese!
Enter Lupinium
Beatrixia: Hi, Lupinium. Are you gonna crime this year?
Lupinium: No, I think I’ll behave. Although it is fun to be bad.
Thomios: Maybe you can find a good way to be bad.
Lupinium: Really? How would I do that?
Thomios: Oh, I think you find a way.
