“Tiny roar!” I’m sorry Puck, Felis silvestris cattus cannot actually roar. I know it feels like you are, but you just don’t have the right vocal equipment for it.

(Nobody tell him that it just comes across as incredibly cute!)

There’s no reasoning with cats intent on a tuna sandwich.

Apex predators? None of them has even taken on a goldfish, never mind a tuna.

In this household it is smoked ham thinly sliced. Not ham salad or any other form, only smoked ham thinly sliced.

The “TINY ROAR” in the last panel absolutely makes this one. It was good until then, but that made it perfect. :-)

Lettuce laced with tuna may put them off of his sandwiches for a while, until they forget.

Artistically, I can understand the 3 potato chips on the plate. IRL, not at all. I can’t even imagine a scenario in which I would serve only, or eat all but, 3 chips.

Did he give them the tuna water when he opened the can? This very well may be his own fault.

Nice try, hyooman. But you feeds cats artificially manufactured food and then eats the tuna fish all by yourself? HA!

The Man is so cute trying to reason with cats.

Remember Man, everything that is yours is actually theirs.

The only way to avoid a CATtankerous CATastrophe is to give em the fish, hyooman. When will you learns?

Look, I’m a cat person myself.

But I’m sorry cats—any sandwich I make for myself is still STAYING for myself. ;)

The hard part is finding a wild apex.

OMC Tiny roar – so cute!

We always feed the cats first and then eat while they are distracted. Sometimes it works.

This image, all the cats watching the man, reminds me of when I boil fresh shrimp and then sit and peel them. I will have four cats all watching me intently. Every once in a while, Giblet will reach up and pat my leg to remind me that he/they are still there.

My recipe for boiling shrimp:

Water to cover the amount of shrimp you have – around 8 cups.

25-30 large fresh uncooked shrimp, shells still on but deveined.

1 or two cans of beer (I like a pale ale for its flavor).

3 large garlic cloves, minced.

A teaspoon of kosher salt.

1 medium onion diced.

1 Fresh Lemon.

Old Bay Seasoning (depending on the heat you like).

Put all the ingredients in the pot and bring to a boil. Add shrimp slowly and stir. When the shrimp turn from translucent to opaque, the shrimp are done.

Cool the shrimp, shell, and enjoy!

The logic of ‘you’ve all been fed’ never works at my house. Nor does the guilt trip of ‘you never offered me your cat food’. Although they are happy to bring us mice to share,

Is that a pickle on the plate? give the cats the pickle and see what happens.

My Inky (named for his color, of course) doesn’t have much of a voice for some reason, though he can manage some pretty loud squeaks when he gets agitated about something. From now on, when I see his mouth open wide for a “silent meow”, I will imagine instead that it’s a tiny roar!

That is until they meet a true apex predator. He’s a wimp for letting them bully him over his tuna sandwich.

Man has been around many cats much too long to attempt reasoning or negotiation with them.

15 Years ago when we had a dog & 3 cats, they could smell when I was making tuna fish salad, & would hover around ‘whimper hope’ drooling until I gave each of them a small crumb of tuna. Now with just one 12 year old cat, Shellie, who only likes Science Diet TD, I’m the only one who drools in anticipation of tuna salad from my mother’s 1940s recipe.

Uh-oh, guys! Careful…that pickle spear might be loaded! It could go off at any moment!

Off topic, but I must celebrate the success of my sister’s five month wait for a bone marrow donor. This must have had something to do with the pandemic. From the bottom of my heart I thank the people brave enough to come forth in the middle of this mess. God bless you all.

Penny found a pork rind and that was his favorite toy and chewy toy. When we were to be gone a week, the vet said he would look after Pen. I arrived with Pen in the carrier, returned to the car car to get the accessories. It was like traveling with a small child – bed, blanket, food, and ta-da a fresh bag of pork rinds. It was a good thing that the vet was a good friend. He said for months they found the ‘toys’ under everything – frig, couch, bed, etc.
