Coffee has something like 200 chemicals in it,most of which have not been evaluated. I can drink tea at bed time and sleep like a baby. Tea has more caffeine than coffee. If I drink coffee I don’t sleep for 3 days so it’s not the caffeine that does me in
“…and the apocalypse begins.” Nope, it’s very well under way. I was just reading an article in the NYT about how the latest is computerized analyzing and profiling of people based solely on their voice. All sorts of things: age, gender, race, emotional state, personality style and on and on. It’s one more way that Big Brother is watching and considering you. How much of it do you think is correct? That’s above and beyond all of the Big Brother spying & analysis that’s being done to each and every person based on info collected from your smartphone, your “smart-everything else” including that smart-speaker, ALL of your computer usage (unless one is VERY well defended) including “social media” especially, where and how you drive your car, and on and on and on. Big Brother has GOTCHA, and to some very significant extent he’s gotcha wrong and there’s nothing you can do about it. Be afraid, be VERY afraid.
Which of course reminds Capt’n Eddie about the last apocalypse he’d had the good fortune to defuse, if you’d care to hear about it…(significant pause)…
Hate to be a Mom spoiler alert cause I is one myself, “However, in moderate amounts, consuming caffeine may actually reduce your risk of heart disease. One study compared a wide variety of caffeine consumption levels. " as per Google and only Merkel takes on that conglomerate, i.e., Google.
My fit bit ties into Google health and tattles to my PCP my blood pressure, 02, temp, pulse, and sleep pattern along with my steps (I get 11-12k per in day at work) I told him “I don’t need to come in, you have my data.”
My son has an automated house. If our grandchildren ever come to visit, we will have to tell them that they will have to walk across the room and move the little lever on the wall to the up position to turn on the lights.
Bill Nye does a great comedy sketch about diet and ‘smart’ devices. Car: “I’m sorry, but I can’t take you to the ice cream shop. The refrigerator says you’ve exceeded your sugar ration and the scale said you’ve gained weight again.”
My now antique Mr. Coffee 4-cup coffee maker [$15.95] takes about 3 min to make a cup of coffee twice a day. Takes up very little space on the counter. There are two more in boxes rescued from my sons’ recycle.
I’ll never get one of the new age coffee makers. The way I was reared, if a thing is useful and does what I need done, why replace it with an over-priced doo-dad just because it is shiny or heavily hyped?
As for Alexa, never want one, won’t have one or any of its kin.
Thanks, Wiley! You’ve got us back in the diner in Down-East Maine w/ Capt. Eddie & his cat. PLEEEEEASE take us on an adventure. Here in California, Newson is saying that Larry Elder is putting on a “black-face” charade!
Isn’t that how every AI apocalypse begins? Interactive AI answering your questions, begins telling you what to do. Remote locking/unlocking doors, AI begins to limit your access. Then, before you know it, you’re on the Galactica trying to outrun the cylons.

I am not surprised Alexa is concerned. An entire jug of drip coffee would be toxic.

When Alexa changes diapers on babies – then tell me about mum’s being replaced by tech. Till then, no dice.

In reality, Alexa would be encouraging you to drink more coffee and eat more pastries-as long as those came from Amazon.;D

In the US, coffee makers are designated as 10-cup or 12-cup carafes; but they don’t represent our 8 oz cups. How are the EU versions labeled?
