It’s after midnight, so, Hippo Birdie to me! At 70, I felt old. Now at 72, I’m thinking 75 is old (with apologies to anyone out there who is). Old age is a movable feast ;-]
Trevor always reminds me of our late Cocker spaniel…never met a person or animal that was not a friend. Yes Trevor, you are a very good boy! How nice to see a whole Sunday strip of the Trevor and Beatrix story. And Beatrix is the bestest huge pawed kitten ever!
The vet’s office sent this photo of Lupin resting this morning, I just shared it to Instagram and FB. I spoke to the vet last night and got an update. They still have some tests that won’t be read until Monday just because not everyone is there for the weekend. But so far his kidneys are functioning well and he does not have heart worm, which is great news. They’re not seeing any cancer indicators yet, either, which is a relief. They are pretty sure this is heart disease, though, sadly. We should know more this week. They have started him on a heart med and an anti-clotting med to try and prevent strokes. He is responding really well to everything, so far. The fluid coming out of his lungs seems to have made a huge difference. He very likely will be able to come home today, (fingers crossed!!) if he keeps doing as well as he has been. I will keep everyone posted.
Hey Trevor, wish we lived closer to you so you could stop by for tea this afternoon. I am making dog biscuits for the first time in a cute set of bone shaped molds. I could use another taster. Just hope my dog likes them assuming they turn out well and not just a mess of crumbs if they stick.
Please give nose boops, and hugs. One of my pets have died, and my other pet was searching for her. I hate when an animal, or a person dies near thanksgiving. We all miss her.
Best of luck, Ms Dunn, and best wishes for little Lupin, though from what you say it doesn’t look too encouraging. Cats can have myocardial hypertrophy (who knew), carried off our Lulu, who was in many ways the Den Mother of our coven of four Snowshoes. After she was gone, the other three (her sister Lily and a couple of cousins) didn’t seem to know what they were supposed to do. Literally.
Sunday afternoon update: Lupin is home!! Safe and sound and resting. He is sticking to staying inside his carrier at the moment, but seems happy and relaxed to be back. He’s on some new meds and will have his next dose tonight, but for now he is just resting comfortably. Thank you for all your prayers and good thoughts. Test results are still coming in, I should have more info on what is happening this week, but right now he seems a lot happier without all that fluid in his lungs. Love you to pieces Lupin, SO happy you are home!
And special thanks to Dr. Bean and the staff at Blue Pearl in Kirkland, WA! Dr. Bean performed Lupin’s procedure and walked me through what was happening on that first night. I’m so grateful to the great care she and everyone at Blue Pearl gave Lupin these past 48+ hours! He was very lucky to have them.
Little Tisiphone (with the shaved hip in the picture) suffers from heart disease. She never could run around because of her skeletal issues, but she takes her pill every day (as daddy braves her fangs) and the boys remain terrified of getting within Paw’s reach.
