I hope the lab techs did open a tabletop games store, and that it’s still here in the area, hopefully doing well! (Bring on the DICE! Mmmmm…sparkly math rocks…)
Yay, what a great ending! Since we have one more day for the weekly arc, I wonder what the gang is going to do for an encore! Also, I can not wait until Sunday to see that other gang from RCO make an appearance in the attic of The Big Pink House!
O.T. – Wayne cancer update. Wayne’s S.O. called to say the test results finally came back and the cancer has not spread anywhere else! His surgery to remove the cancer is scheduled for Nov 9th and then he’ll have to have a 2nd surgery to reconstruct. They thank everyone who prayed and sent good wishes.
This concludes the rvieting tale of Natasha the White and Bilbo Alice Baggins in the Hoppits. The Company of Mice escabed from Mt Doom and Grimtech with the Urakai Zombunnies.
With time and love, and borrowed carrots from Quinn Farms, the Zombunnies returned to their normal hoppity selves. The company would survive and thrive.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Thomios, have you made preparations for our Bunny visitors?
Thomios: I have, Your Majesty. We will start with a carrot soup, then a variety of salad greens, and Lupinium is bringing dried grass, a favorite of rabbits in the wild.
Enter Lupinium
The Queen: What do you have there, Lupinium?
Lupinium: Hay, hay, hay!
The Queen: Very good. Now, Thomios, what do you have planned for the dessert?
Thomios: I have a variety of carrot desserts, including my famous Kibble Karrot Kake. Loved by cats and bunnies alike!
Enter Puckmosis
Puckmosis: Your Majesty, I am happy to report that Trevor-Hotep has had an amazing harvest of 24 Karat Carrots. Looks like we’re golden.
The Queen: Looks like all is set. I wonder if we’ll ever learn how the Royal Procurers became friendly with the Rabbits.
Look at Alice with her arm around Natasha, while they dance together on-screen. Such a sweet little mousey couple. You really can’t beat a meet-cute story featuring zombies.♥♥
I would like to thank my dear friends Ryan (different Ryan, not the Man lol) and Destry for kindly allowing me to model the lab tech characters after them. Not everyone would chance being the (sort of! More just “in over their heads”) bad guys in a lighthearted comic. They were such good sports. Writing these characters as them helped give them a little more depth and humor too, I think. I like to hope these characters did go on to open that store! (Also, Ryan and Destry are each some of the best Dungeon & Dragons DMs I know, so that felt like a good next chapter for their characters lol.)
And—The origin of the Destry Home Hearth’s name revealed! It was so much fun reading everyone’s guesses, I didn’t want to spoil it this summer. It’s named after one of my lifelong best friends, who was a good sport then too when I asked. I felt like Destry would be a great name for an Alexa-type robot. In real life Destry is someone I turn to for advice or guidance as well, so it had a sweet element. When I asked if he’d be willing to be one of the scientists with Ryan, he said “How am I going to be a robot AND a scientist?” And I said, “maybe you’re the scientist who invented the Destry Home Hearth!” Lol! …Maybe that’s how he and Ryan got the funds for the table top game store.
A little peek behind the scenes of the writing process, I hope you enjoy hearing about it! And thank you again to Ryan and Destry! You are good friends to let me draw you fending off adorable bunny zombies for weeks!
Ah ha, so Natasha is in on the government cover up. Of course she’s going to say the werezombie rabbits returned to normal, that’s just what those involved in the cover up would say. Can’t let the truth get out.
Beatrix will be happy to learn that “amirite” has been added to the Merriam-Webster diction. Perhaps that can be the basis for her next investigative report. “Why is it that by the time new words are added to the dictionary, we’ve already moved on to newer words?”
I’m rereading The Cat, The Quilt and The Corpse the first book in the “Cats in Trouble” mystery series. The book was first published at least a decade ago, long before everything was broken and nobody knew who did it. So I was surprised to see a Big Pink House on the cover that looks almost like THE Big Pink House of BCN fame! The first murder in the series takes place in that Big Pink House and the whole plot revolves around cats.

John Lennon might say It’s Just Like Starting Over
Lab Techs: This job’s not worth it
Science just isn’t worth it
Just want to groan
Don’t want to renew my contract
Let’s take a chance and open a store
Of our own!
…….
Bunnies: We no longer feel the rage
Just glad to get out of that cage, so quickly
But when we see the carrots
It’s like we haven’t eaten, in a long time,
It’ll be just like starting over
Starting over
…….
Robber Mice: Everyday we’re gonna take
What we want, for goodness’ sake, it’s easy
So guard your wheels of cheese,
To take them will be a breeze, my friends
Now we’re all starting over
Starting over!
…….
All: Why don’t we all just do our thing
Sell our favorite games or grow a garden
We’ll be together, all of our friends
It’s the dawning of a brand-new day!
It’s ending well, now!
…….
All: Feels like we were all in a cage,
Our lives are at a brand-new stage, so wonderful
We have our friends and family
And so many brand-new chances
A new beginning!
It’ll be just like starting over
Starting over
…….
Our time together, is so precious together,
We’re all friends, we’re all friends
And having friends is special, let’s take a chance and do our thing
Right now!
Starting over (over and over and over)
(And over and over and over)….

Crime, ladies
Go on and become partners
Can’t you see?
Robber sprees are just starting
Heists are calling, and night is falling
Crime, ladies
Soaps on TV could never be so thrilling
Things are free, I hope that you are willing
Pick the goods up, and keep your hoods up
Crime, ladies
Sticky fingers lift what you found
Starry skies, and loot is all around you
Let a skate take you where you want to go
Oh, oh
It’s time, ladies
