We all become Luann right here at some point in our life.

“If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.”

The job-search story continues, I was sure it had burnt itself out last week,

Bernice is right on. There are times when she proves she is Luann’s BFF and confidant.

She can always be a Nanny to her brothers kid’s.

Ah, so I did speak too soon when I mentioned Mrts Fogarty not giving Luann an aptitude test….what is surprising here is Bernice taking it. I would expect Bernice to decline and say she doesn’t need to because she knows she’s on the right career path. But then she might be taking the test to prove she’s on the right career path, prove to everyone how much she knows herself.

Bernice will discover she’s a good fit for any of the pursed-lip professions—literary critic, butler, wine taster, scold.

I hope this will end with Bernice being very surprised, even dismayed at her results. Luann’s will most likely be inconclusive.

An aptitude test? What an interesting challenge for the commenters. I will stick to my original choice for Luann: a school bus driver. Bernice, I need more time.

I’m beginning to have hopes for this arc. Maybe there will be a new start for Luann. Perhaps even for Bernice. I’m guessing Luann will go into stage set design!

I took an aptitude test once. It just told me I was good at everything. Trust me, that’s not at all helpful.

I bet Bernice’s results will be 180 degrees opposite of what she will be expecting: a psychologist, counselor or psychiatrist. She will probably be advised to go into a field which requires little interaction with other people where repetition, long hours and attention to detail (ala a jobsworth with no empathy) would be essential. Something like an auditor for the IRS or forensic accounting where she only has to crunch numbers and not step on toes or put her foot in her mouth. Luann? Probably elementary education like she has always thought……

Heck, in my business, aptitude tests are an occurrence several times a day. So far, I have had the aptitude to succeed, just in time to retire out in May… :)

This, I have to admit, is funny.

It’s Bern who hasn’t been paying attention. Hope these results will be a huge shock to her, because man, does she need a rude wake-up call.

It’s sad to see Luann always so insicure about herself. Let’s hope the results of this test will help her change and become more self confident♡. Bernice looks so happy to take a test. She seems to have fun… in her case, let’s hope the results will be really different from what she thought and totally confuse her.

The test will show Luann as a great aptitude for psychology, whereas Bernice has none.

As quick as she was, Bern has a real aptitude for sharpening pencils. Too bad that job has been eliminated at the pencil factory.

I’m glad we’re sticking to this; I was worried we were gonna cut back to some other characters, leaving this unresolved. Looking forward to the outcome.

Aptitude tests primarily exist to determine whether or not you’ll succeed in life.

Bernice is in for a confusing and disappointing test result. The question is, will she take it to heart or dismiss it?

I knew I wanted to be a scientist from the age of 10. Fortunately I have the aptitude and the breaks mostly came. I still enjoy going to work every day.

That’s what I thought when I took the psychological test in college at the beginning of my Freshman year. You could tell what questions people were on by the intensity of their giggles.

Come on now, is it really at all weird for Luann to be taking a test that she hasn’t prepared for? Her high school record would seem to indicate that it’s actually pretty normal.

OK, That’s it. Does Luann have a major learning disability or something? I mean common, this is just lame. No one is that diluted.

I was taking a 4 letter personality test in school. On the back page, you count the dots to see if it is valid. I failed a personality test and the teachers didn’t know what to do. I should have studied.

When I was in college I initially wanted to be a pharmacist and organic chemistry culled me out. I took an aptitude test and it said I would make a great programmer, car mechanic or mortician. I became a programmer and was happy for a long time until my job was outsourced twice. 30 years later when switching careers I took a similar aptitude test. And the results were the same – it said I belonged in IT. But I’m too old for it now and IT won’t hire people over 50 yrs old. So now I’m an admin assistant at a community college for the dean of math and science and it’s interesting work. It seems your aptitude for a particular type of work doesn’t really change with age.

Enough of Bernice let’s move on

The test will show Bernice has no aptitude for the mental health field. Still, she defiantly says “I’m gonna do it anyway!”. Luann replies “You want fries with that?”.

I love taking these kinds of tests. One of the most recent one I took was the Four Tendancies Quiz, and now I am reading the book. It has very eye opening and amazing to see how my family fits into these different tendancies. I am hopeful I will be a better mother/spouse now that I know what their tendencies are when it comes to outer and inner expectations.

In another age, Bernice would have been a telephone operator listening in on other people’s conversations. Luann just wants to meet a cute guy and reproduce three or four more little cartoon characters.

Maybe Bernice will have an aptitude for kids? Nah

I remember taking a test for career placement that basically asked me ‘So, what DO you want to do?’ over and over. My ASVAB, on the other hand, said ‘You are a medic or a police officer.’ I am neither of those.

I’m really looking forward to the results of Bernice’s test.

Mrs. Fogarty ought to have insisted Bernice sit across the room.

Bernice will get the big surprise: she should be an engineer, not a psychologist.

I hope Bernice’s results say her aptitude’s are not in the counseling field.

Breaking News Luann will get implants and become a high paid stripper.

It would be interesting if Bernice’s test showed that she has NO aptitude for being a counselor.

I knew there was a test for job aptitude, just can’t remember the name of it.

Bernice is a great friend. She gives honest feed back, support when required and she really cares.

Luann’s punchline is a profound comment on her entire character arc—she never paid attention to who she is, what she’s good at, what she wants for the long run, anything. Is this the confrontation with herself that we’ve long awaited?

Bern would make a much better accountant/finance specialist than a psychiatrist.

The aptitude test will show that Bernice is best qualified to be a professional snob.

Luann’s looking at that test like it’s some kind of alien artifact. Just how challenging can it be?

That’s going to be one of those tests where they ask you the same question over and over but in a different way each time.

It would be ironic if Luann’s ability to listen points her towards being a school counselor while Bernice’s love of research and esoteric knowledge points toward becoming a librarian.

I’m confused. Isn’t that teacher from high school? Aren’t they in college now?

I think that the Evanses completely forgot that Luann originally was choosing schools based on her desire to get theatrical training. Although her parents had limited financial options regarding school choice it was specifically pointed out to her by a friend that the Community College had a very good theatre dept. Unfortunately we never saw her take even one drama class.

Luann, can you be honest about yourself?

The sign on the wall in the first panel is really bothering me. It should either have a question mark at the end of it, or it should say: “ Finding Work…THAT Works!”

Oh, come on Luann!!!

Commenting so late for me, sheesh! I think it’s great they’re taking an aptitude test, and both young women’s comments are very on point; Luann not certain how to approach this non-study for test, and Bern (HER BFF EVEN IF A BIT SARCASTIC, SO WHAT!!) and Bern calming her down by pointing out what an aptitude test if for and what it tests. To me the most interesting outcome will be Bernice’s though, not Luann. I think it’s teaching and creative arts generally for her (although I’m probably wrong) and who knows for Bern, although there is counseling hope shown today. I don’t think Bern will find she has the aptitude, or that she has better aptitude for something else.

We all feel that way, Luann.

So much for Luann’s so-called “life”; she should get one….
