No. It’s art if they call it art. “News” is a whole other category. It’s news if an outside observer calls it news.

It’s narrative that the Main Stream Media calls news. In fairness, Fox does its own version.

The facts are the facts. The slant on the other hand, depends on who’s telling them (and / or omitting, cherry-picking, and censoring them)

They used to work in sideshows and call themselves psychics; now they work on TV and call themselves journalists.

More precisely, those stories that we have already made you believe by constant repetition.

Give me real news without a slant anytime. I dare you.

So what you’re saying is, there is no such thing as actual news, and whatever you see is only what you want to see? If that’s the case, I’ve got to start taking better drugs, because I am NOT seeing what I want to!

There are no longer ANY integrous “news” organizations. Opinion and hyperbole intended to illicit an emotional response. Gone the way of critical thinking, another lost art. Cut the cord years ago. Haven’t regretted it.

AKA Confirmation Bias

It hasn’t been “news” for a long time. Regardless of who is in the White House, the news heavily skews (rhyme unintended) in a particular social and political direction.

No news is good news.

Over 90% of the MSM is controlled by the same people, they tell you what they want you to hear. Looking around I can see that it does work…

News outlets have always had a point of view. Cronkite was opposed to Vietnam. Edward Murrow exposed Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Fox goes further, and is just pure propaganda, it’s not even honest opinion. They don’t form an opinion based on the facts. They know what opinion they’re going to spread BEFORE they see the facts, and it doesn’t matter what the facts are. It’s just totally dishonest. They intentionally divide the American People because stoking anger makes money. It’s disgusting.

But when they were taken to court, they claimed it was simply “entertainment”!

TV & Facebook do not provide news. Newspaper A section provides news. Opinion section provides thoughtful discussion. Support your local paper.

I stopped watching and readin all news a few years back. Wonderful.

Spot on, Mr. Pastis. If only someone would report the news, regardless of whose ox is being gored, and skip the opinions. And quit focusing on events that only make the other side look bad. Report them and move on. Walter Cronkite – where have you gone?

Sadly, I don’t find that the MSM confirms all of my beliefs. It’s hardly perfect, but compared to the “conservative” media it’s not too bad at presenting a chronicle of events and letting you form your own opinion.

Yes, we should all turn off our TVs, cancel our newspapers and only use the internet to read the comments on GoComics, because we all know that nobody on here is biased. /s

What I hate about Broadcast News is that they give you the weather report for every part of The United States except in your own backyard.

Just type “Fox News Seattle photo” for a nice example of Fox’s approach.

Don’t think Fox and fairness can be used within 6 words of each other. Pretty sure it’s illegal in all 50 states.

Unfortunately, that’s the way things are going.

If you want to see the facts without any intermediary, C-SPAN is the place to turn. I watched Lindsey Graham another and other Republican crypto fascist senators posturing for the cameras, telling outright lies, and generally harassing a Supreme court nominee whom they had already confirmed to a lower court. The spuriouness of was utterly stupefying, and I saw it live. I have since watched the number of C-SPAN events. I don’t know how the media reported them, but I know what I saw. By the way – I also recall a far less accomplished jurist raging and weeping- but being confirmed. In any case, I recommend C-SPAN without reservation!

The moniker “boob tube” has never been more appropriate.

Our morning news doesn’t do this slanted news. But that’s only because they don’t do news at all. They just keep repeating weather and traffic.

Sounds like CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC…..

Try reading reading your news. The Washington Post and New York Times both have over 100 years of history and very high journalistic standards. Even if you believe they have a slant, they report all the news and if they print it you know it is true. If they do a make a mistake (quite rare) they print a retraction.

Just pick your preference in “news.” There’s almost a surely a network out there that will spoon-feed you what you want….

Interesting that of the 20-30 entries of the “featured comment” that I read, they perfectly exemplified panel 2 of the comic.
