And tomorrow is the Grand Finale! Look at Beatrix sitting on Trevor’s head, with All Those Toebeans! [runs to get ear protection from all the squees which will be forthcoming!] =)
There aren’t many Christmas light bugs left around here. My brother and I used to catch a few of them and put them in a jar with some grass, and we would always let them go when we had to come in for the night; that was over fifty years ago.
Grandkids, if they come along, are a decade or more in the future. I doubt they will be able to have the summer night experience of Christmas light bugs, and that makes me very sad.
I do love the Christmas light bugs, although thanks to the late sunlight (I am on the western end of a time zone) I am mostly seeing them during the day. Not to get all emotional, but my favorite part is the “To Be Continued Tomorrow” in the bottom of panel four. That panel now features two characters who have crossed the rainbow bridge, four total in the strip, but their stories will be continued tomorrow and for as long as this strip lasts. It’s a beautiful thing.
My family lived in Illinois for 6 years when I was a kid. A kid from the Bay Area had trouble adjusting to actual seasons. We moved back to CA when I was 16 and I’ve never left. The only things I miss about summer in Illinois are fireflies and thunderstorms.
Georgia posted this on facebook and that answers the question: “I hope everyone has been enjoying the replay of this classic BCN story! This week was chosen when our family visited RI last month, as a “vacation week.” I appreciate everyone who has been understanding of the replay and the time it gave me to have a vacation and see family!”
I’m so very sorry for your loss. You gave Pru a loving, warm, dry, and safe home. Her belly was full. That’s everything a cat can hope for. Please take comfort in knowing you gave her the best life and that all of us here support you and know you did your best.

Love the detail of the tea-tag hanging out of Trevor’s cup. Continuity!

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Tommy: Are you sure we’ll have enough kibble for the banquet?
Thomios: Not to worry. We always have enough of whatever we need.
Sound of giggling in the background
Thomios: In fact I think we just got more.
Enter Lupinium
Lupinium: I thought I heard two Tommy voices here.
Tommy: You heard?
Lupinium: Yes. You seem surprised.*
Tommy: I keep forgetting I’m not in Rhode Island anymore.
Sometime Later Elvis-Anum Comes By
Elvis-Anum: Am I seeing double? (Poofs).
Thomios: No, this is my descendant from the future, Tommy. (He can get grumpy, but he’s really a great cat).
Tommy: I guess the apple never falls far from the tree.
Elvis-Anum: What was that?
Tommy: Uh, I said would you like an apple tart and a cup of tea?
Elvis: Thanks. Don’t mind if I do.
*Lupinium is not deaf.

Dionne Warwick and Friends: That’s What Friends are For
And I could just sit out here all night
Underneath the bright moonlight
‘Cause I’ve got a chance to stay
Out here with my best friends
And if one of us should go away
I still know I’ll always feel the way I feel today,
And we should all remember:
…….
Keep smiling, keep shining, knowing you can always count on “we,”
That’s for sure, that’s what friends are for
In good times, in bad times,
We will be together forevermore,
That’s what friends are for!
…….
From the windows we can see
Christmas lights so wild and free
For all this love I thank you,
Knowing that we’ll never part,
And I mean with all my heart
And always please remember,
…….
Keep smiling, keep shining, knowing you can always count on “we,”
That’s for sure, that’s what friends are for
In good times, in bad times,
We will be together forevermore,
That’s what friends are for!

Well there either looking for love or looking for a meal. One species of Firefly uses its light to lure prey to them. Other fireflies.
