A little joke today. I like the reaction of Tracy in the last panel much better that Gould drew him nearly rolling on the floor laughing in the 1960s. I wondered if this character was a friend of Mike’s, but it just looks like a comic relief insert.
I could swear Dick is at a Dizzy knock off theme park and is in the Looney Toons house. Is that a sheepish look on Dick in P. 3., when it really could be a bad guy in the bunny suit bugging out and doing it in a way to make it sound funny ?
I wake up, come here, see THIS and I gots three words for ya… WTF?!?… okay, technically that was seventeen words… wait, these NEW words just made it increase to thirty-three… wait, it just increased yet again to… etc. etc. etc…
Tracy, I think these folks are using their made-up names today. Not sure whether you want to keep an eye on the creepy bunny, but this could be a set-up for a convention of disguised criminals… or not. Keep sleuthing.
“Uh…Me? I’m outta hare”! Unique name for a character in costume. If one was to look into his family tree, odds are that Bugs Bunny, Peter Rabbitt and the Velveteen Rabbitt can be found there. The Energizer Bunny is a distant cousin.
Even though Tracy and Sam are supposedly investigating, the crime and investigation are the least important thing in the story so far. But, we’ve gotten an overdose of cosplay and memorabilia collecting. It continues to show the reader what the real priorities of the writer of a crime strip are and what takes a back seat.
Mike should start a new strip and call it Cosplay Corner. Then, he could populate it with furry animals and stupid jokes to his heart’s content. There is a time and place for everything. I don’t know where all of this memorabilia and cosplay belongs but Dick Tracy ain’t it.
How long does it take to get to the main criminal? (This question is popping up in nearly every story now)?
Getting around to Art Dekko,Dick will run back to the friendly company of the rabbit.
In 1980,I got the impression that the MCU took SPECIAL pleasurein bringing Dekko in,his enormous ego made him quite the detestable character.(Sam,I thought, especially hated him).
Now they’re on the “Here we go again” Merry-Go-Round,and theMCU’S frustration will be understandable.
…frankly, I kinda like the setup (even if “53 miles west of venus” by the B-52’s has suddenly wormed into my brain…..): “Harry” has on jester’s bells, Tracy in (rawther iconic!) profile, all served up on pure white space!
My avatar might currently be a cat girl but I really should update it to the bunny I currently use on other sites… regarding todays’ strip, I LOVE HIS BUN PUN! :D
Bizarre Tracy comedic bit! And “Tracy,” though in iconic profile, does not look so stoic in panel 3 as Shelley’s usual current renderings: he’s actually cracking a smile! But his fedora is still two sizes too small….
I’m going to guess that has been some problem with the uploading of today’s strips at GoComics that might account for the unusual empty background. This version of the strip may even be a replacement for the more finished-looking intended one.
Even so, what the deuce is this one-off gag trio of panels doing in what is supposed to be a crime story?!
