That first small rug looks more like a flying carpet than the final one. I think the “muffin” rug is part of the bathroom set with the toilet seat cover.
Captain Tom: Once again, I’d like to thank all of you on behalf of my officers and crew for all you’ve to make the Good Ship Red Planet Spider seaworthy again.
Puckmosis: As Grand Vizier I would like to extend the open invitation to come and visit with us any time.
Captain Tom: Count on it, and thank you again.
Ziggy Starcrossed: It was great to see you again, Cuz. Are you sure you wouldn’t like to join us?
Iggy Shipwright: Maybe someday. Right now I’m content to help with the fisher cats and the Artisans.
Ziggy: And so long, Ora. It was great meeting you.
Ora Zedd: Likewise. I’ll be there’s a lot of mischief to get into on board a ship.
Ziggy: Sure is. But you gotta be careful as well.
Arachna: It was great creating the sails. Makes me want to get the Red Planet Spider band together for a jam session.
Maat-Tilda: Why not? I’ll bet we could find enough instruments. Or we can make them.
Arachna: Somehow I think there will be enough instruments.
And this is how I ended up breaking my leg in November, and spending Christmas in a cast on crutches. Carpet surfing; fun for cats, not so fun for old adults.
Our bathroom rug is currently a cut shag, cotton yarn, with a very non slip base. Unfortunately the cats love to scratch on it so that we get a pile of loose 1” long yarns every day that need to be swept up. And the rug is looking balder daily too. So I have a new type on order, one of those foam cushioned, velour top styles. The most important thing is a non-slip grip, so we are crossing fingers this one will be that. Remains to be seen just how claw resistant it may or may not be. Sigh.
Is what cats make when they knead a regional thing? We’ve always said they’re making biscuits. I’ve heard of bread, and now muffins are a new one. All delicious and comforting no matter which!
Update on my rescue: As you know we rescued a cat that was trapped on an apartment bldg. roof for 2 months. She is now a spoiled, laidback housecat. Who sits at the window lording it over any other outside cat. She has made friends with my 2 senior cats and now spends most of her time sleeping with them on my bed. Life is good!!!
I don’t have carpets in the apartment. It’s ceramic tile and hardwood flooring, but I’d sooner have chilly feet than slip and fall and break something.
“This one can fly,” gave me the biggest laugh I have had all week! The cat perspective has always been part of the genius of this comic, but Ora Zella as a kitten in a new place just takes it to a new level.
I was texting with two of women and one young man who adopted my foster kittens and all described what Ora Zella does. They sent me pics and one sent a short video of the kitten wrestling with his new big brother. Our two adult males think the hall rugs are their personal surfboards.
In our home, Roy is our “Surfer in residence” also “Climber of bed curtains” and when he gets up there “Crosser of Desert” for walking the pole to the other corner.
Great kitten. We had a cat, weird even by cat standards, who liked getting in a laundry bag and being slid across the floor. Our son in law discovered it. He would show her the bag and she’d hop in.,
Miscreant loved hardwood floors. Only he was the rug. He loved to be flung across the floor like OZ’s rugs. He would come back for more and more. I got ired of the game before he did.
My dearly departed Jasper used plastic grocery bags to go surfing across the living room rug. He would make a running leap on top of a bag and ride it all the way to other side of the room. One day he went flying through the house with the bag waving like Superman’s cape. Luckily, no harm was done, and from then on, I made sure to cut off the handles before placing a bag on the floor for him.
O.T. To all Californians. Stay safe with another major storm moving in. I was just looking at pictures of downed trees in Sacramento plus several hundred thousand without power. Stay inside if you can.
Our guys never needed rugs or plastic bags. “I’m going to race through the kitchen, down the hall, then make a hard leeeeeeefffffttSLAM!” Shakes head briefly, then takes off to do it again.

Rugs can be deathtraps. You ever walk on top of a rug and it slides out underneath you because you went just a little too fast.
