Less gossip, thank you

I’m with Harry. He has taken his own path, not the one he was born to. He stands up for his love. He is his OWN person. He’d make a fine American if he ever makes that choice.

Arlo left out that he’s a cute guy with a nice body who’s unfortunately straight and married. Outside that, I don’t need to know anything about him. Celebrity gossip doesn’t interest me any more than dysfunctional family drama does.

Strictly speaking, he’s not the son of a king but the son of a queen and her prince consort. But the larger point stands.

As my husband and I often comment – despite being 4th in line – he is one car accident or plane crash from being next in line for King. (If God-forbid his brother and family were killed en masse in an accident.)

Arlo nailed it.

The British Press and The Firm demanded Harry offer himself up to the media.

He decided to do so to his highest bidder, so it benefits him. Not them.

Harry never said he wanted a quiet, private life. He has the Invictus Games and other public projects. By birth, he became a public and historic figure.

He wanted to have the ability to tell his own story, not have the British tabloids tell it and sell it based on what they and his family decide is the best distraction from the rest of the family scandals. Or media thinks will sell their papers and their own books and TV shows about him.

He wanted to stop the press that sends drones and telephoto lenses to look into his house. Or taps his phones and goes through his garbage, as they’ve done in the past.

No one agrees to all this just because they were born.

No other royal family tries to groom their members to accept this fate, especially not as a sacrifice to hide the bad press and outright crimes of the other family members.

You can see in the press how they’re already setting this up for the next generation. George is polite and dutiful. Charlotte is the cheeky but helpful sister. Louis is the naughty little rogue. They’re people, not props.

Harry’s airing his story, how his family impacted him, and yes, his dirty laundry, to get ahead of the narrative, so he has told these things, and the others can’t hold them over him.

He got paid to do so, so he’s more free of his relatives’ influence and can afford the security his family needs.

Hopefully, after this wave of press, people will move on from trying to dig into his personal life and focus more on his public work.

All these superficial stories in the British Press are a way to keep the narrative shallow, to silence talk of the taxes the monarchy doesn’t pay, money from other governments, and their wealth built from colonizing and stealing from other’s countries who want their diamonds, artifacts or independence returned

A great example of why we gave that whole monarchy and aristocracy thing the royal heaveho in 1776.

Harry and his spouse – who claimed to have left the monarchy to avoid media – have been blabbing to Oprah, writing books and generally craving media attention ever since.So that’s the answer: he’s a self-indulgent, silver-spoon multi-millionaire who can’t STFU.

I had admired him for leading his own path and stepping away from that “institution”. That said, I am not happy that he is airing all the Royal’s dirty laundry. Just step away, go on with your life and family and be happy. Remember the best revenge is living well. I hope he stops sharing all these private things. That said, I DO intend to read the book. LOL.

yeah, I’ve got a constantly unemployed sibling who is supported by a large inheritance and tells everyone how to live their life despite having no real skills or experience.

Contrarian statement following.

My family has supposedly been traced back to around 1066 in England, and (I think) my DNA is primarily Anglo. Overall, I love most all things English.

I don’t give a fig for the “royal” family, though, and I avoid nearly all of the news and gossip about them.

I’m with Arlo. I simply do not understand the American (specifically) public’s fasciation with the royal family. While I wish no ill to Harry or his wife, I do wish they’d sit down and shut up. I think pretty much every family has it’s own peculiar dysfunctional pathos (I know mine does) but most of us don’t put it on public display, rightfully figuring our turmoil is nobody else’s business. But, I’m guessing he and she are getting paid for interviews so it’s an income stream.

and even that is too much. wish he would just go away.

To be a “fine American”, he would have to carry a concealed weapon, maybe an AK47..“just in case”. British police never carried weapons other than a billy club.

They have their particular set of problems and I have mine.

I’m so sick of Harry and Me—gan, it’s funny Harry was living his life fine till he met her. Then she tells him how unhappy he is. It’s all about her her her. They want the perks but only to their likings. One day he will wake up, I only hope it’s not to late. Yes Charles screwed around but so did Diana multiple times. Megan thinks she is Diana reincarnated and Harry craving the love from his mother is falling for it hook line and sinker. Megan had her plan all along. She never said she was black till it was to her advantage. Wake up Harry, get YOUR life back. Just my take.

I guess I’m an old dog because I’m with old dog above. We have a rule here: when Harry comes on the TV goes off. This is a very privileged white male whining. When real men and women see something wrong, they fix it. But that takes courage and resolve.

That’s one of the few things I can honestly say I don’t think anything about.

Sadly, he has family issues , as do we all. But unlike us with our family issues, he airs his out in public to make money. Tawdry at best……

Good reply Arlo because that’s exactly what it boils down to. When you’re born into royalty, you get royalty perks whether you want them or not.

The king was only a prince when Harry was born. He got a big promotion…

Patty Reagan wrote an op-ed over the weekend reminding Harry that silence on his part is always an option.

The firstborn son of a king will one day be elevated. The second born gets the shaft.

I’m totally uninterested in royalty. And I don’t understand why other folks do care…

Nonetheless, while most Americans reject the concept of royalty, we seem to enjoy the many, many scandals associated with royalty.

Meghan may only be a drama duchess, but through an unlikely path of succession, she could yet become a drama queen!

England is smaller than Alabama.

And many persons in this country can’t get enough of the “royals.”

There are a lot of self-absorbed celebrities with no redeeming talents. And Harry is only the latest.

As the second born Harry is quite fortunate today. Seven hundred years ago the second born, if perceived as a threat to the heir would have been stuck in the Tower or worse, simply killed off. Banishment to the colonies isn’t so bad.

I am with Arlo. We overthrew the British monarchical government. Why we continue to be fascinated with them is beyond me.

He may well make a fine American. Given his military service he made a fine Brit.BUT. What else do you need to know about him, and Meghan?Not much.
