I doubt we’ll get a Grand story… but who knows??

Ugh. Maybe it’s just me but I’m getting tired of relationship stories with bernice

Mrs. Horner Sees a grand story of Bernice and her Piro.

Odd, I don’t remember him showing that much interest in Bernice way back when.

Poor looks like he gained weight…

Piro still wears a scarf. That hasn’t changed, but something happened in his life since he kissed Bernice and disappeared.

Looks like Piro realized he liked Bernice and wants to see her again. Luann, shut your trap and take him to Bernice. She’s probably at your house.

I can’t help but notice that Luann asked all the same questions of Piro in today’s strip that we did in yesterday’s comments.

Dang! I thought of Piro, but as the “hot and heavy romance” author, not a class taker.

It’s not that grand

I thought answering questions with questions was a way to get around that rule.

Bernice is turning into a hot number? Why not.

This is so great! I 100% agree with Mrs Horner. Piro seems to have thought a lot about Bernice, I wonder what happened to him. Maybe he even tried to looks for her, but she was no longer a RA, no longer lived at the college and he didn’t know how to find her. Now Luann has become a link between them and she will be directly involved in Bernice’s messy love life… Can’t wait! I hope it will be a dramatic and hilarious story.

“Mind if I come home with you and crash on your couch for this semester?”

Bernice does attract the off the wall guys, doesn’t she?

Did I miss the storyline where B went to rehab? Got divorced? Had a mafia put hit on her head?

Oh, some dude kissed her and HE dropped out of college? Well, this is definitely a scenario where one should be concerned about HER.

Bernice is not gonna believe this.

It looks like all Bernice has to do is say Yes to Piro. Maybe she has some new perspectives on romance…..maybe he’ll agree to wear a merman costume?

Looks like I was right when I said that Bernice had ghosted Piro. He’s certainly not acting like a guy who had received any closure on the subject.

A grand story, maybe, but Gordy Lightfoot has already written the song: “And when the talk runs high/Does the look in her eye/Seem far away?”

Okay. I was confused. Nil is the artist Bernice was infatuated with, came close to third base, once, or, twice. Then settled for being his “muse.” Obviously Piro was before Nil. How heavy was his relationship with Bernice?

Mrs. Horner is either sensing a grand story or she’s having a heart attack…

I still think Piro is an undercover cop or federal agent of some type. Here is an another example of one of the many unresolved situations that constantly occur in this comic.

So Piro is concerned about Bernice and whether she brings up anything about him, or more importantly, “US”. What does it take for some of us (commentators) to realize this real arc, or part of the arc? Hitting them on the noggin with a bat (a nerf bat, no violence0? He’s in LOVE with Bernice!!! I’ve always been of the opinion as my commentor buddy said yesterday, that believing Piro is some kind of homeless bum totally misunderstands this character. Bernice needs someone like him, TO OPEN HER UP FINALLY TO BE THE WOMAN SHE CAN BE. JEEZ. Oh, by the way what a romantic story. Lu, with Ms. Horner, you about to learn one of the biggest lessons of your life, while, maybe, being able to write romantic literature

Piro could certainly locate Bernice if he wanted to. He has a lot of information about her. I don’t recall that he seemed very interested in her before. Why the interest now?

Yesterday I had mentioned my theory that maybe Piro had deliberately kissed Bernice badly so she would leave him alone (as he always had to conveniently be somewhere else whenever she showed up, as if he was secretly trying to avoid her.)

Well, today kinda blows that idea right out of the water. I guess Piro really does have the bad taste required to be into Bernice.

An interesting start to the next few weeks of Luann. Will/can Bernice choose between Piro and Nil?

I think Mrs. Horner’s take-away statement in the last panel should be expected in the future. GnK has promised a GRAND story to come. We shall see.

Once Bernice learns of Piro’s appearance, we can expect a parallel set of questions to Piro’s from her. That would explain whether there is some lingering interest on her part.

And remember this. Bernice has had a lot of practice in the kissing department via Nil then the “failed” attempt.

Strangely enough, after the kiss fiasco Piro disappears from the strip. Bernice decides to stop overthinking her emotional life AND Nil expresses an interest in Bernice at an art class outing. Nil requests, and Luann sets up, a double date of bowling. And the whole Bernice/Nil arc takes off from there!

Well now that Bernice is reading Bosom Busters, she will know what to do in a romance.

Some positive takeaways here for me: 1. I’ve always liked Piro but he was mostly a mystery i.e. had little to say and we didn’t know much about him. Now suddenly he’s talking and maybe we will learn more (he liked silent movies). 2. The fact that he asks about Bernice and shows concern tells me what I suspected previously, that underneath is a very ‘human’ person. 3. I’m less concerned about what relationships might form and more interested in Piro the person; is he interested in writing? these two need to do the assignment and save the talking for later.

Aww, they already mucked it up, with Piro mooning over Bernice. Gag.

Why a guy for Bernice? Luann is a sweet girl, time for a guy for her.

A 4 week arc at least.

Bernice and Piro kissed, and she felt nothing. As to why Piro was away, I’m wondering if it was for medical treatment. At one point Bernice discovered that he had a doctor’s appointment, and she started wondering what kind of doctor. We never did find out.

I’m impressed that Evans remembers who knows who in this strip. He must have a giant diagram

Piro seems a bit thirsty.

there’s a two question rule? realllly? [stops]

All questions, no answers…yet. He and Bernice had a lot in common, 7-9 years ago, our time, when Gunther was also interested in Bernice and Tiffany was tempting Piro. I wonder if Bernice has thought about him. This could get interesting. “A grand story” indeed, but with no ending? Comedy or tragedy? Certainly a melodrama with Bernice! §;-)

And then there’s Tara’s part in the Mooney Uni fiasco. ;-o

Check out “Luann in Espanol” series. Bernice is putting together a silent movie night and hoping that Piro will be the only one to show up. This followed an arc where he spent the night on her couch and left his scarf. I don’t know when those arcs were done in English, but Bernice certainly had the hots for Piro then.

I just realized that both were asking questions that didn’t get answered. Who’s going to write this story, Luann or Piro? Or maybe a joint effort?

If I recall correctly, didn’t Bernice decide after kissing Piro that she didn’t feel the sparks that she thought she would? Bernice seems drawn to the quiet, quirky types, but just for a minute.

Without having read all 148 comments, does no one in this strip have a phone except Tiff and Bets? Couldn’t he have called her if he’s so enamored of her?

Meantime, Bernice has moved on, and no longer mentions him, or even Nil.

Two questions just aren’t enough for a 700 page novel.

Definitely flouted the two question rule. Grand story? Well that remains to be seen.

And thus Piro is still hung up on Bernice. I’m confused as to WHY anyone would be hung up on Bernice given her personality, but i’m just glad Gregg and Karen remembered someone as it gives me more hope Knute and Krystal will make their grand return soon. And let’s face it i’m always on the side of “don’t throw a character out if you can use them well”

This arc really picked up!!! Yeah!

PIRO: Damaged Goods?Who IS this guy? Mysterious, elusive, laconic and somewhat sullen, Piro seems to have no roots, no identity, no home or family. Is he a drifter? A moocher? A war vet? Is he homeless? Is he sick? He’s a student at Moony, drifting from one couch to another then disappearing. Bernice is attracted and intrigued by him but his unpredictability makes a relationship impossible.

Don’t know much about Piro to wish him in a relationship with Luann. But I don’t want another Bernice and her boy drama, either. Has it been 7 years our time since we last saw Piro? That’s a long time gone by.

SUNDAY: TJ wonders if it’s all worth it. :-/

Questions, questions. So many questions—if anyone cares. Gotta go with Mrs. Horner. Get down to business, less idle chit-chat about “old times”….

For Piro/Bernice/Tiffany/Gunther background….I think GnK dropped him for Nil. Oct. 25, 2016 Tiff was attracted to Piro, but as Gunther’s pal, she tried to dissuade him from Bernice so Gunther had a chance. Then there was the missing TV arc, Jan 12, 2017, Feb 3, Mar 27 led to the “Kiss” on Apr 26, May 2. Jack and Nil show up Aug 23, 2017 and Piro went into hiding or to the doctor’s. ;-D

The lady is right, there is a great story in there, I hope they let us hear it!
