About 40 years ago (I’m the fifth kid and was in my mid 20s), my dad fell off a ladder and had to go to the hospital for X-rays. He put “29” down for his age. Apparently, they looked at him a couple of times but didn’t say anything.
Pastis is just a child. I have a couple of kids older than him. It doesn’t seem possible, but that’s the way it is. My children have gotten older than me. Hahaha!
My Grandmother did that. She started having “anniversaries” of her 39th Bday. When she reached the 39th anniversary of her 39th Bday she said “it was time to admit it, she was old!”
Around age 45 I started cutting my age in half and celebrating two-day birthdays. So this year I’ll celebrate 31 years on Saturday and another 31 years on Sunday.
I started counting backwards from 50. I’m almost down to 24. Actually, though, when you’re 75 and still mentally and physically functional, it’s something to be proud of.
Birthday is the most common math misconception. When you celebrate its recurring the count is always one off, because everybody omits the first birthday. The day you actually are born.
Stephan Thomas Pastis ( / ˈstɛfən ˈpæstɪs /; 2 born January 16, 1968) is an American cartoonist and former lawyer who is the creator of the comic strip Pearls Before Swine. He also writes children’s chapter books, commencing with the release of Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made.
So he and I were born in the same year. Somehow I haven’t figured out how to care about my age while he seems to be desperately holding on to his twenties. Yes, I’m sure it’s a joke but there are people like this out there. I’m not sure why they think lying or denying their age changed anything.

At least he’s not calling himself “54 years young”; I hate when people do that.

Ronald Reagan told the press corps that he was celebrating the 36th anniversary of his 39th birthday. It was a funny joke then and still is now.

One more year and you’ll start getting some senior discounts.
David_the_CAD about 2 years ago
I used to be like that. I would say 29 is about the right age, old enough to know better, young enough not to care.
Now I have grown to accept my age (57), even if is shocks me sometimes that I have made it this far.
bagholder5150 about 2 years ago
Car 54 where are you ?

Stopped at a motel and the young woman at the counter gave me the senior discount WITHOUT ASKING. 12 years ago.

Birthdays are good for you — the more you have the longer you live.
franki_g about 2 years ago
Birthdays celebrate the fact you were born, not the years since.
It’s not Age-day.
And I came up with this BEFORE I started getting deluged with Medicare supplement junk mail.
