I learned that very same lesson, Luann . . . as a kid, not as an adult.

What a mean-spirited strip. If this is the best Greg can come up to celebrate Mother’s Day I’d rather he not bother. Why a strip where Shannon confided to Toni that “Even though you’re not my mommy, your the best mother I ever wanted.”

Le Petit Chateau used to be a high end restaurant in Studio City (L.A.). It’s been gone a while. I wonder if G & K were thinking of this place.

Greg you could have come up with something more nicer to celebrate Mother’s Day Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother’s in the Luannuniverse.

And now Luann will have to run, change and spend a nice day with her mother. Which she didn’t expect, but it will surely end up being fun and unforgettable. I wonder what Bernice did for her mother. Always IF Bernice did something for a mother she seems to have tons of problems with, so much that she’d rather stay at her friend’s house than spend mothers day with her.Good mothers day to everyone!

I suppose it’s par for the course in depicting yet again how self-absorbed and awful they all are. But this made Funky Winkerbean look chipper.

This year is different, Luann!

It’s interesting that back at the start of this strip, Luann was the likable kid and Brad was an obnoxious schlub. Now they’ve switched places completely. He became a stand-up guy and Luann is boring, unmotivated, insecure, selfish, self-obsessed, unthinking, dim, immature, obtuse, directionless and annoying. He’s not the only character who’s more rootable than the supposed heroine either. If they could make her growth a bit more consistent, I’d be fine with Tiffany taking over the strip permanently; she’s way more interesting.

Watchout, Luann, you’re not irreplaceable. Remember what happened to Fritzi Ritz!

I hope your credit card balance is low enough to actually afford “la Petit Chateau,” Luann. Your chickens have finally come home to root.

Luann…pick a restaurant that’s reasonably priced and which everyone can enjoy so you’re more likely to follow through.

Recalling my comments for today’s ‘Peanuts’ episode for contrast, not all people deserve the mothers they’re blessed with. I hoped for better than this here. Let’s not take our mothers for granted while we have them.

So… Luann is cultivating the skill of giving people gifts she hopes they won’t actually use. Isn’t THAT special?!?

Since Luann didn’t know they were going she would not have made reservations. What are the chances they can just walk in to a restaurant like that for Sunday brunch, on Mothers day? She has nothing to worry about . . .

You have to tell her you’re cashing in the coupon Nancy.

It’s because the comic is called Luann and even though she’s in college now, she is still very self centered and childish.

Luann is such a jerk. She has no respect for either of her parents, to her they’re just the people who pay her room and board and for her education.

On Mother’s Day – I get to contemplate two of the most obnoxious young women being portrayed in comics. Bernice, who for no good reason other than “she’s not fun” has basically ghosted her own mother and dotes on Nancy DeGroot, to Luann who is selfish, rude and obnoxious to her mother, a woman who puts up with her inconsideration on a daily basis. It’s so wonderful to see her eating like a pig while gloating over not really having to do anything for her mother today. Nice job Greg and Karen Evans.

Yeah, you’re a real piece of work, Luann.

I hope they take Bernice, too. Even so, there is no worse day to eat out than Mother’s Day. All the restaurants want to do is keep the tables turning over so they can handle everyone.

So it is written, so let it be done…..

Fact: Mother’s Day is far and away the busiest day for restaurants, far out-pacing any other holiday or special event. And Father’s Day? They could close and few would notice. :o(

Don’t eat out on Mother’s day. It is the busiest dining day of the year.

Did I mention that Nancy looks delicious? She’s clean and crisp and well drawn. Then there’s Luann who looks like the clean up girl in a weight lifting gym.

Ma-a-an, the Overthinking Club never has a day off, does it.

Boy, Luann is getting attacked again by those who call her all kinds of names, when the point is not her daffiness as selfishness, it’s more daffiness as humorous irony. But “projectors” can’t or won’t see that or if they do rather attack and ignore it. Not me.

This Mother’s Day, I gifted my wife live flowering plants and gift cards for where she shops besides the obligatory greeting card. One year, I purchased a $100 spa certificate which she never used. I know, it’s the thought that counts but she really needed to use it to take a vacation from her overworked self. She was operating two 7-Eleven franchises at the time.

Nancy looks so happy and thinks Luann actually wanted to share a special Mother’s Day meal, only for Luann to be lazy and had no intention to treat her mom to anything special. Wow, Luann is the worst. This is why I hope Piro’s not going to fall for her. He deserves someone who isn’t a selfish brat. Quill dodged a bullet.

Mother’s Day, and after many, many years, I’m glad that she missed what happened to her world.

Somehow I knew as soon as I saw Luann and Bernice talking that this strip would be another one making Luann look terrible. And if Nancy didn’t tell Luann she wanted to use the coupon and go to the restaurant, she can’t really expect Luann to be ready.

I would have done a strip with Bernice giving Nancy a card saying she was like a second mother to her, perhaps bringing Nancy near tears. But then I don’t draw the strip. :-/
