As soon as you give up dealing with current reality then holes are (potentially) “there” anywhere a hole can be dug.

At least he’s digging the hole for himself. With some luck, he won’t be able to get out of it.

But the hole WAS there. Petey just had to remove the dirt that was filling it.

Riddle: How much dirt is in a cylindrical hole that is four feet deep and 1 12 feet across?

Most modern problems are like this.

Reminds me of a ‘hole’ building group about 100 miles up i95 from here. Spend months talking about holes they are going to fill, then trying to find holes to hide in at fill time.

I am kind of disappointed with Petey’s response. I would have gone with Michelangelo’s:

“The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”

This is why I won’t get a dog. A hole-digging dog in a rental can cause problems with the landlord.

I discovered why one dog I had used to dig holes. When I lived in Arizona, I had a St. Bernard who used to create trenches in the yard. She’d then lie down in the hole she’d created to keep cool.

I agree with Petey, (this isn’t a political statement) according to Michelangelo, the sculptor not the turtle, David and Moses were in the marble waiting to be released.

Does any of this apply to useless walls and politics?

Perhaps Petey is working on his own Hole Theory?

The first book given by my aunt when I was little was, “A Hole is to Dig” by Ruth Krauss, Pictures by Maurice Sendak.

A hole is always there, you just need to dig them out to find them.
