I know I’m gonna get flack for this, but tattoos turn me off. As Captain B.J. Hunnicutt once said, “Why would anyone want to hang a picture on their body they wouldn’t be caught dead hanging on their wall?”
If Toni doesn’t know what men can show she obviously has never read the “blue bear” threads on Joe.My.God! (https://www.joemygod.com/) It’s not safe for work.
Also Toni seems to overlook why there are so many types of clothes for woman, it’s to expose parts of their flesh to men. It’s very sexist.
Brad again illustrates how much he has matured and evolved over the decades (well years in the Luannverse). Back in the ’90s he would have said something that definitely would have ended a date or relationship, then again he spent a lot of the ’90s simply watching his neighbor Diane with binoculars when he was not getting into trouble with TJ…… Its pretty cool how the world has turned for Brad as he has a wonderful wife and life. Props to him! Its time for a Toni D/Brad arc but I suspect we have a bit more of the Bets/Gunther leave the nest on a road trip arc.
Actually, according to Eve Tokens at thecreativecurator.com, there are lots of shirts that men wear. There are a lot of casual ones, like the Aloha or Hawaiian shirt, the polo shirt, the T-shirt, the tank, the Guayabera, the denim shirt, baseball shirt and similar things. The more business-oriented shirts, like buttoned down or oxford are another choice. Then there are really fancy things, like tuxedo shirts. The major difference is that, except for things like the tank and ‘muscle’ shirts, men’s shirts are mainly about covering up and NOT showing…
Not sure if they still do, but I was taught in high school social studies that Department stores usually located the women’s fashion sections closer to the doors and parkade entrances.
Is that a tattoo on Toni’s right arm in panel #2?? I thought she had more class than that!! Unless it’s some unwritten code of the Firefighters’ Union.
Old saying: Men are built for power, not style. That’s why we have the same three basic outfits. We’re the Jeep of humanity. We haul loads and we move things.
bout 40 years ago I used to cut my tshirts off at the midriff. Nowadays I dont cut em either the regular t’s or the tanks. No more 6 pack abs now its a whole case
This is beautiful, a real Sunday gift. Brad and Toni are sweet and fun and I love seeing Toni in seven different types of tops and Brad admiring her more and more. I hope this couple will be always able to overcome their issues and stick together.
What I used to note was how, fashionably, women could wear any men’s clothes, as long as the fit did fit, up to a dress suit. But a man wearing virtually any women’s clothing just looks, IMHO, weird.
And here is a point that I like to make about women who are saying: “I’m up here,” when a man is looking at what is obviously intentionally emphasized. Women, grab a brain! Why do you complain if men look at your body, when you obviously chose what you are wearing to attract attention to it? In some cases, I feel it is abusive for a woman to flaunt, particularly in a business setting. (I had to call on a heating contractor whose secretary was always nearly falling out of her top.)
Here’s a challenge for you: walk around your neighbourhood, count the number of women who completely cover their cleavage (if you can find any) and then count the number of men who don’t wear their shirts buttoned all the way up to the first one down from the collar. Generally speaking, men DON"T dress to look sexy!
That’s the beauty of women. Can wear just about any clothing article and look good. Greg’s got Toni in a western-style outfit today. Other than on the beach or in the gym, men really shouldn’t be displaying those other areas. Shorts and shirt sleeves. In going on, even a casual outing, Brad should dress up a little more than what is today. Fellas just don’t dress up much, anymore.
( for those historically challenged, today is the actual date that the Continental Congress “Declared” our independence from England … just took another couple days for all the details to be ironed out).
Years ago my wife and I were on vacation in Hawaii and we were in a small women’s clothing boutique. There was a young woman salesperson wearing a dress that was open in the back all the way down to her but. She had a very large, very lifelike tattoo with beautiful colors. I told her how I hate tattoos, but I loved hers. Then she told me the backstory about it. She had surgery on her back for a spinal problem that left a long, wide scar and the tat was her way to cover it up. That made me love it even more and to this day, it remains the only tattoo that does not make me look away.I wish I had a camera that day.
There sure are a lot of people here passing judgment on tattoos today. I don’t have any myself, but I’m not gonna tell someone else what they can and can’t put on their own body.
God is a woman and I’m glad she’s allowed women on earth to dress in all the colorful colors and designs they want. Men are drones, handsome ones sometimes, in comparison. Contrary to some comments I see nothing sexist in today’s panels and say thank you that I get to enjoy it.
As far as tattoos go, to each his (or her)own. Just think ahead before deciding to get one. My daughter had a tattoo that said ’Mike’s Missus’ tattooed high on her thigh after they married. 10 years later they were divorced, and she went through several expensive sessions getting it lazered off. Quite painful and sore, but eventually invisible again. Even though she’s remarried, she swore no more tattoos.
I believe that the tattoo was Toni’s way of memorialising the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center.
I never see anything I can wear that doesn’t look like a funeral tent. Baggy shirts and pants etc. Women buy ten times more clothes than men, that’s why their area is so much larger.
I think it’s really cool that Toni’s fire fighter tattoo is shown on her arm in the imagined series. It’s an important thing to her , and not an offensive not trashy representation.
