The worst thing that could happen to Calvin may be getting Miss Wormwood’s job. As Bill Watterson explains, “I have a lot of sympathy for Miss Wormwood. There are signs in the strip that she smokes heavily, takes medication and is counting the years to her retirement.”

Although Calvin is currently a large part of Miss Wormwood’s unhappiness, she does have some sympathy for Calvin and sometimes tries to help him rather than just tell him off.

It’s not Calvin’s lack of effort that is the problem. It’s that his efforts are misdirected.

I don’t have good memories of most of my grade school teachers. One ridiculed me when I said that it looked like all the continents could fit together into one piece. Another told me that dinosaurs never lived in North America. Others would dig their nails into your arms while yelling at you. Etc. etc.

These comments today make me upset and disappointed in my fellow commentors, this had nothing to do with politics and all your ranting but you had to turn it into one big agrument amongst yourselves. Please lets keep politics and back stabbing others out of the comics, go to the politcal comics to do that.

Reminds me of some of the people who enroll in an adult education program in which I teach. I can lead them to water but I can’t make them drink. You go, Miss Wormwood!
