“The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft a-gley”. Or, perhaps, “No plan of battle survives contact with the enemy” – either will do … Not that there was a ‘plan’ as such in the first place.
It is indeed faster, for the plumet on the first half. A bit of a slog dragging yourself along with a broken leg and a cracked rib or two for the second half.
You never hear anything about Lassie these days. I wish they would bring her back, but then again, they would probably make her a cat or a panda, soooo, maybe not.
A page from ‘The Adventures of Cat Lassie’, on YouTube. Except Cat Lassie would have gone home, eaten, and fallen asleep without letting anyone know Eddie was in trouble.
Reminds me of a female friend who liked to lampoon the “dumb blond” stereotype. She would tell about the time she started to walk around a lake but got too tired halfway around and decided to walk back.
I spent eight months walking two hours a day in the redwoods with two magnificent cats. They would become concerned when I got too out of breath and had to take a break. They would patiently wait with me, sometimes panting themselves, before continuing on. Cats vary at least as much as human beings.

He didn’t violate the law of gravity, but I think there’s a violation of physics or physiology somewhere.

There are risks to taking shortcuts.

Lesson for today: hiking sticks are not good for pole vaulting.

Taking ‘short cuts’ often leads to unusual outcomes.

My mother knew all of the shortcuts. After awhile, I learned to ignore them as her “shortcuts” usually added about 20 minutes to the travel time.

is the cat named Lassie?

This is a first ………….. a Captain Eddie story that actually happened!

Judging from the first frame, it would appear it would not be far from his feet to the ground if he was indeed dangling there.

Cap’n Eddie’s emergency “carrier cat.”

Nice animation poses (and a subtle reference to those old Beetle Bailey cartoons with Sarge hanging from a tree root?)

Interesting timing since a short cut is keeping the government from shutting down

I’m laughing, because if one looks at the 2nd panel, it appears to be a one-foot drop (or less) to the floor of the crevice.

My stepdad was famous for his “shortcuts”. The generally took 3-4 times as long to take. BUT, they were always interesting
