I’m definitely old enough to get the Carol Channing reference but I’m surprised Georgia knew who she was!

She loves Lupin. Sweet! Torties can be chaos engines and love sponges at once. Honor was, and Bear is as well.

I met Carol Channing once. She’s a very hard person to forget, even if you’ve never met her and a whirlwind if you have. Amazing woman.

“Thanks Lupin, you’re like if Keith Moon was Godzilla!”

That reminds me of an exchange on the animated cartoon series Craig of the Creek:

Bernard: A report on what the Fall means to you? Is that all? Your face is like AB Calculus.

Craig: No, your face is like AB Calculus!

Bernard: You don’t even know what AB Calculus is!

Craig: You don’t even know what your face is!

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

    Lupinium: Ishaq! How’ve ya been?

Ishaq, the Cat in the Unusual Headgear: Just fine. I’ve been traveling around doing this and that.

Lupinium: Getting into mischief along the way?

Ishaq: Maybe a little bit. But I always put things right again.

Lupinium: I remember. Would you like to help out with the Getting Better Kittens? We’re having a fundraiser, and I know you could be a tremendous help.

Ishaq: Anything. Do you need any help with games?

Lupinium: Yes. We need potatoes for lawn potato, and grain for the grain hole games.

    Ishaq: How about board games?

Lupinium: We have a few Senat boards, but we could do with some more games.

Ishaq: I know the Royal Procurers have their connections, but they can only be in four places at once.

Lupinium: If you’re up to a trip to Afar, a visit with the Head Librarian would not come amiss. Librarians are famous for being able to find things.

Ishaq: That wouldn’t be Beaver Lee Cleary, would it.

    Lupinium: The very same!

Geez, the zoning commission needs to step in, rezone the Big Pink House on the Hill as industrial, tear down this house thereby getting "the woman, the boy, the girl and all of the cats into a potentially safer environment, preferably in and all concrete structure. This has been one disaster after another lately. First the couch gets shredded, making for great tinder, and now broken glass all over the kitchen floor. This is just a catastrophe in the waiting.

It’s is always fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it is just fun.

Having read through the comments and learned that Keith Moon was a drummer, what an awesome connection – Lupin being deaf, he would perceive music mostly as vibrations. So a drummer is a fantastic choice for him: he’d get just as much of the experience through vibrations!

OT: I know it’s late but Georgia just posted on face book: “My 2023 Reubens submission has been received! Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who suggested BCN strips to submit! I sometimes struggle with the overwhelm of “too many choices.” Being able to read your suggestions and single out your top favorites helps me to decide! The majority of these strips were the ones I saw come up again and again in your comments. This year I decided to include two examples of continuing strips/stories. I wanted to include Lady Jane’s diary SO much. If they had allowed 10 submissions it would have been in there. As many of you know, I’ve had A HECK OF A YEAR, and so up until last night I wasn’t sure I was going to have the emotional bandwidth to submit. I was sitting on the fence about it (ok, on the bathroom floor while the kids brushed their teeth) when the Girl noticed my long face and asked what was up. I explained that I really wanted to submit my comics to “the big comics award show”, and most of the comics were already chosen. I just felt pretty exhausted and wrung out. “I don’t know if I can this year. I might take it off my plate.” She immediately put her hand in my shoulder and said, “Mom!! You’ve got a dream! Hand it in!” Well, who can say no to that? (Thank you, Gwen.)”
