I had one of those last fall. I was clearing the leaves off the rose bushes with the leaf blower. When I was done I thought to myself "You know, this would be a really quick way to get the dog hair out from under the couch, fridge, etc. A few minutes later there is now dog hair on EVERY surface of my house and several pictures that were on the wall werenât.
In the early â70s my wife and I joked about a stuffed baked potato fast food place. We were shocked when someone implemented the concept. We think it didnât catch on because they didnât put enough of the stuffing components in the potatoes.

I hate it when that happens⊠again and againâŠ

Is it even a good idea?

My hangar is full of those.

Iâve had ideas that shouldâve exploded in the hangar. . . .
Bilan 12 months ago
That usually happens when you sober up. How did it happen to Calvin?
sirbadger 12 months ago
If the idea was âDo a backflip off the roofâ, it is good that that idea exploded in the hanger.

Probably something that would make everyone unhappy!!

That idea had potential now it is just kinetic.

The difference, Hobbes, is that nearly ALL of Calvinâs do that âŠ

Looks like Calvin may finally be growing up.

happens with every idea I had while smokinâ weed. In the cold light of day itâs always âWhat was I thinking?â

Must have been another plane (plain) thought.

I can only imagine watterson heard someone say that their idea never took off and decided to make more plane jokes to add to that.
bittenbyknittin 12 months ago
Mine run out of gas after a few minutes.
gantech 12 months ago
Yeah, but what a cool explosion!
Blu Bunny 12 months ago
Odd, usually Hobbes points out the flaws to Calvins ideas.

This is one of my favorite analogies.
Back in my early days in the Air Force, I was friends with a Marine Corps officer. Both our wives were pregnant at the same time.
I referred to my wife as âhaving one in the hangar.â He referred to his as âhaving a live round in the chamber.â
I guess these are the military equivalent of the civilian expression, âa bun in the oven.â

Are you sure it exploded? It could have just taken off like a rocket! lol

By the way, the only people who can hear or see Hobbes in any way are the ones who caught him with a tuna sandwich trap. ;)

My mind, like my garage, is full of things thought of and not done and things done that shouldnât have been. Maybe one day . . .

Unfortunately, we all have had some crazy idea or other every once in a while; and some of us never learn to avoid them.
brick10 12 months ago
Exploded in the hangar? Oh, that would indicate the need for a major change.
TommyEfreeti 12 months ago
Imagine Calvinâs mind like a base camp, with lots of little Calvins running aroundâŠitâs amazing anything gets built in there!

Now this is a classic! Iâll never forget this one.
John Jorgensen 12 months ago
I doubt Hobbes has had ideas that exploded in the hanger, so to speak.
kathleenhicks62 12 months ago
I had no idea.

I suspect that a lot of Calvinâs âgreatâ ideas explode in the hangar.
mistercatworks 12 months ago
I guess thatâs the difference between an idea and a full-blown scheme.

Itâs worse to not even try, if itâs a reasonable idea which we all know this wasnât.
Snuffles [Previously Helikitty] 12 months ago
Just add more rockets, Calvin. Thatâll get it up high in the air.
