Unfortunately this could have been said of the GOP since the 1980s. Admittedly, it has ramped up many fold since 2016… but it was pretty d@mn bad then as well.
$1.5 trillion in tax cuts for corporations and billionaires. At $10 per meal, that would buy 150 billion meals, enough to eliminate hunger in America. Ask any Republican if they would support repealing the tax cuts to feed the hungry. I think you know the answer these “good Christians” would give you. Monsters.
Either party can be viewed the monster. Most conservatives and many moderates see the progressives as the monster with the identity politics dividing the country. When liberal icons such as JK Rowling and Martina Navratilova are attacked for having ONE view differing from the tribe …
Putin blackmailed Traitor Trump with the kompromat he has on him. Traitor Trump’s handlers blackmailed a few members of the Godawful Obsolete Party (like threatening to out Lindsey Graham). The majority of the Republicans who back Traitor Trump in public are afraid of being primaried and/or hoping to inherit his cult. (And notice I said “in public”.)
the GOP has ALWAYS preferred to make you afraid, uncertain and doubtful about your facts and yourself. Because people in that state tend to act conservative and the GOP has long been able to cloak themselves (quite falsely in some cases) as conservative.
As noted before, during the 1950s the craziest Republicans (led by Joe McCarthy) were warning us about the Red Menace, and now they are the Red Menace.
Once upon a time yes, or I seem to remember it being so in the 50s. Now I’m afraid I have to agree with the cartoon that they have become the monster. Not all of them, there are still a very few who are worthy of the name (and no, I don’t always agree with them or any other of the parties), but most of them, yes.
Geezer, I bet you believe that your tax money goes to blue states when the truth is that tax dollars tend to go from blue states to red ones. Taxes are necessary to have civilization. In the U.S., regressives have always propagandized that taxes are being used on “the other, those people you fear & dislike.

The GOP used to work to strengthen the union not divide and destroy it.

Fun watching them self-destruct, though, and devolve into chaos.

I’d be more scared of the people running the country because we know it’s not the President.

The GOP never protected against monsters under the bed, they invented them to scare people.
