It’s too difficult for B.O. to just call ahead on a cell phone. He doesn’t have one, obviously, hence the use of the pay phone earlier. I guess that even the neighbours will see him coming now.
Speaking of burglaries, it appears somebody has broken into the Dick Tracy strip & stolen what was once a great mystery action strip & replaced it with a gag a day strip aimed at nine year olds.
Which has nothing to do with the current story line… But the current story line is so full of ridiculous nonsense that I find this refreshing. BO & Junior are solidly in character. Okay, BO is nonsensical, but that has been his role / character for more than 50 years, and he plays it well. (One should expect a character born in late 1800s to be a little confused about pop culture from a mere 60 years ago.)
This confirms it . Ettinger can draw cars and very well . His Adam West Batmobile is perfect except the missing insignia as noted by Batster . Now what this interlude has to do with Dick Tracy I don’t know and I guess nobody else does either but it is cool and fun .
Flattop Jr use too have a car with gimmicks like this one. Including a folding tent and other things. Maybe BO should have wont hat one to keep this interlude as part of the main story? Fun strip.
Let’s hope the police cars in the periphery of the ‘rockets’ panel are there to put an end to the ensuing fiery conflagration with extreme vexation before the ‘NUKES’ button is tested.
B.O. forgot to say “Atomic Battery to Power! Turbines to Speed!” Though, given his name and trademark feature, an open cabin car is probably the best for B.O’s passengers.
Crimestoppers: We used to get calls from an old lady who would lock herself out of her house. We would find a way in, then the next time, find that she secured the way we had gotten in previously. The last time, we had the fire department come with a ladder, and go in through the second floor window! I told her “If you lock that window, then the next time you lock yourself out, you’ll be sleeping in the garage!”
1-B.O.: I call her the Hatmobile. Ain’t that hilarious? See – it’s really the Bat… ARCHIE JR: Yeah. I got it the other 10 times you said it.
2-B.O: It does all kinds of cool sh*t. Fer instance…
3-…When me and Gertie are gettin’ busy at the Drive-In Theater and I finally “get there”, I press this here button…
4-…to show her I’m done and she can stop so far as I care.
5-ARCHIE JR.:* Well then, points skyward , lemme show you the Passenger Ejector Seat Button. No use having her around to yak through the movie after you’ve finished!
B.O: AND THE POPCORN WILL BE ALL MINE! I LOVE THE HAT… AJ: SHUT UP!
Let’s see… BO must be very wealthy, If he had really won the Batmobile, he’d be on the hook for taxes based on the prize’s value. It last sold for over 4 Million, so if it’s NY, lets round off to 8%… So $50k or so for taxes, It’s a historical vehicle, so that requires special antique insurance. Which severely restricts, how and when the car can be driven, i.e. in good weather, parades, or to get fuel or to a mechanic. And limits on yearly mileage. In actuality, the insurer may require such a special vehicle to be trailered nearly everywhere by a bonded carrier. For it to be a daily driver it would have to be a replica, kit, or the insurance would be eye wateringly expensive with all kinds of special riders for the custom equipment. Never mind, what the bodywork and paint will cost you in the case of an accident or vandalism.
Appears to be the Batmobile from the old TV series, which was based on mid-sixties Chrysler concept car with a gas-turbine engine. Saw one at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.

The idea of BO Plenty driving a “speed car” on the highway summons up all sorts of disasters.
Has the dashboard been modified so it drives like a NORMAL car. BO has never been about “rocket science”?
