Yes, Alex, he can be more embarrassing⊠he is your dad⊠that is his job. Until you get to the age where you realise he was mostly right on most things, and by then it will be too late to tell him.
Way back when, when I was a real-time C guy, we used to consider UNIX to be a DIY OS. It was written in C and we would modify commands or add our own, as we desired. Every once in a while, something would get out into the wild and our tools guys would go nuts.
(1) Odd that the camp refers to Apple (the company) and Windows (the product) as of like kind. I wouldâve expected either Apple-Microsoft or Mac-Windows.
(2) The few kids who are also history buffs will be in the CP/M cabin.
Windows OS is still the most widely used operating system in the world. I know Doonesbury is making fun of the âput downâ characters. Many of us program for multiple operating systems â whatever is required to get the job done.
Why bother having the camp in the countryside at all? Wouldnât they have better connectivity in an urban setting? Itâs not like theyâll be studying the local wildlife or other nature activities.
I work for a huge software company (mainframe mostly) and it is amazing to hear about the number of development tools unavailable on Mac OS X. And some of them that have been ported from Windows donât run as well. I am very glad I chose a Windows machine when I got to choose which kind to buy.
Just because some of us oldies donât need or want new technology doesnât mean that we canât do everything we want utilizing Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Picture Manager and our old XP program.

I have programs (not apps) that will only run under Windows. They have no other version for other OSâs. I use these a lot.

Apple would have been Pro Dos. For those who have only seen the Mac interface, yes even Apple had a CLI once.
