This, for some odd reason, reminded me of a zoo show my wife and I watched where a first-time cheetah mom gave birth and when she turned to check on it the baby moved. It scared the poor mom so bad she jumped about 3 feet! She had no idea what to expect but she recovered quickly and instinct kicked in. We laughed and laughed.
Iggy: The artisans are looking for found objects for their Shadow Box Project. It’s for the Happy Healthy Hospital Pyramid fundraiser. I’d like to find objects for a nautical theme.
Fresh Water Cat: I think we can find a few items for you.
Salt Water Cat: We have a few weights for the nets we can spare, and some fish hooks.
Iggy: I think I’ll add a few knots as well.
Sometime Later
Iggy: We have the makings of a really nice shadow box, and some Tasty Tilapia as well. Are you guys coming for dinner?
Fresh: Wouldn’t miss it. I love to see how Thomios prepares fish.
Salty: It’s even fun to clean up for a packet of leftovers.
Iggy: I wonder if the Builders would like to create a shadow box.
Right Before Dinner
Wally (Awhil-Fixit the Seventh): We would love to create a shadow box for the fundraiser. I have a carving of my family’s Cat With a Hammer trademark.
Iron Glove: I have some miniature tools to add! And a miniature shelf!
Iggy: That’s right. Elvis used that in his talk on the dangers of shelves.
Welcome to the Big Pink House where today we have that race that you’ve all been waiting for. It’s Ora Zella against her Shadow. And they’re off. It’s Ora Zella and her Shadow. They’re neck and neck coming out of the gate. But now the Shadow is pulling out in front. Yes the Shadow is leading but Ora Zella is charging hard and coming from behind. They both round the corner with the Shadow holding onto a short lead. The Shadow is still ahead and now Down the Hallway they Come! The crowd yowls as Ora Zella makes her move and it’s anycat’s race here at the BPH.
I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me, And what can be the use of him is more than I can see. He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head; And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.
The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow—Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow; For he sometimes shoots up taller like an India-rubber ball, And he sometimes gets so little that there’s none of him at all.
He hasn’t got a notion of how children ought to play, And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way. He stays so close beside me, he’s a coward you can see; I’d think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!
One morning, very early, before the sun was up, I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup; But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head, Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.
I remember the first time I showed Vlad himself in the mirror. He was growling! He wanted to know who that cat was in his mama’s arms. I reached out and touched the mirror. He pieced it together that there was no other cat. And he was okay with it after that.

That last panel looks crazy. They are so evenly matched, it’s hard to say who will come out on top.

Looks like Ora can’t control her stand. How ironic.

My shadow can’t be very bright
It comes by day and goes by night
Tho it sticks with me through thick and thin
It never turns it’s timecard in
